Hi
Im a newbie here and to internet marketing. But im a little confused. When I see Andy jenkins, and these other guys make these videos on kajabi and the video boss i was wondering if kajabi is what they use to make these videos or is it final cut pro or powerpoint or what. I cant afford to go out and buy kajabi--it seems like its the way they made the video presentation but it also looks like it does other things as well. So how can i do the same thing with something else or? Thanks for the help.
I have a PC not a Mac so my choices are limited I guess.

I would say the best thing for you to do would be to cool your rockets and learn everything an app like Kajabi does, and what it doesn't do, FIRST.

What you're seeing in those Video Boss and Kajabi style launches is an accumulation and a LOT of different technologies. Really, the ONLY thing Kajabi had to do with either of those launches was hosting the pages and controlling the information distribution. Everything else you see; (and don't see -- which is why you need to disect and learn, first); is accomplished by something else.

By learning what each individual component is... it will be much easier for you to identify alternatives. It will also be easier for you to identify what's being done and how its being done, when you see something else.

+1 to the above post. Kajabi is the content management and product launch system that is used to manage their product launches.

For their videos they are using Screenflow, Final Cut Pro, and probably a few other specialty editing programs (at least in Andy's case).

Since you have a PC, you will have to substitute Camtasia for screenflow and Adobe Premier or Sony Vegas for Final Cut Pro.

Camtasia (7) is certainly an investment that will pay for itself
      over time.

      I also use and recommend Serif's MoviePlus X3 or X4 - really
      quite inexpensive and very powerful.

In fact I liked the process so much I renamed a bit of it to Kashabi so people could actually see the difference - and yes I re-created the logo pixel perfect from scratch.

There are a few WordPress themes that will of the same functionality as the 'time release' effect of Kajabi at a fraction of the cost.

I believe one of them is a theme called 'authority pro'. It may even be for sale in the WSO section on this forum.

What is your goal if you are looking at Kajabi? Is it to release a product?

Cruise around here and check some stuff out.

Camtasia does give you 30 days for FREE as a trial. If you are going to wind up with it eventually (if you do), you might as well start using it now and getting used to it.

Kajabi is a great product but it's too damn expensive. I think it's a rip-off! There are other products you can use to simulate what Kajabi does and it's way cheaper! Check out these 4 products below...

    1. You'll need a squeeze page for capturing leads. You can use SqueezeTheme

    2. Then you'll need a theme to show a video on top and comments below to show social proof. You can use Product Launch WP Theme

    3. Next is a membership site for your content. The best one for the job is Wishlist Member for WordPress

    4. The last tool you can use is WP Drip. It drips content and it does it with ease! It only works with Wishlist but it is definitely worth having because it keep the retention rate! Which is what Kajabi main selling point is about, retention of users. Keeping users as customers. WP Drip definitely keep retention because it drips content base on dates of a post

    Ok so what's the total

    SqueezeTheme - $97
Product Launch WP Theme - $77
    Wishlist Member Plugin - $97
    Wp Drip - $47

Total - $318 (one time payment)

why do you recommend wp drip in addition to wishlist? That seems redundant - am I missing something here?

Camtasia will now work with powerpoint to record your PP presentations. Could make it easier to record a presentation.

Not sure what you mean by not really found a way to make money with camtasia.

You can make all kinds of instructional videos, and the sales videos for the instructional videos.

    Say that three times fast...

I've used camtasia in the past for sales videos and it works, but camtasia+powerpoint wont give you the same effect as that in the Kajabi video. To do that you need either AfterEffects, Director or Apple Motion.

You can cludge something together with powerpoint and camtasia, but its not the same.

That being said, Camtasia is an invaluable tool that I couldn't work without. I highly recommend it.
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[2908187].message }}

cludge - neat word, I like it.

I agree that it won't look as good as the vids on Kajabi. I would not be surprised if those videos cost in the neighborhood of 5-6k to produce. At least they look like they did.

Camtasia is a great tool, and I feel I couldn't work without it. It really does get the job done.

But unless you have a corporate client that demans something like that, if you are just presenting a small product to the public, do you really want that cinema type production in the video?

I mean is, if you have a product that you are hoping to have affiliates pick up and promote, do you want something looking like the big guru launches?

With the feeling that is going around forums like this and others about how those of us that promote those products are pretty upset, or tired of them or think they are a lot of hype, more sizzle than steak.

If that is the feeling, do you want to 'mock' that style of product presentation?
If you do, more power to you, just realize it is expensive just to get set up, not accounting for your time.

I feel if you are going to want that, unless you have a bankroll to back you, you should ramp up to that kind of launch.

Video is excellent promotion to people you don't know. It is harder work to get, but if you have a list that you have a relationship with, you don't have to be so slick. Your time might be better spent building a customer list of people that trust you.

What to build a list in?

Well for starters many who read this thread want the effects of Photoshop but some of us are really confused by it. Are you trustworthy there? Build a list.

What is your 14 years of experience in with respect to "computers". What can you do that normal people hate to do or don't know how to do. Do a video of you doing it and build a list.

I think you need to get Aweber, set it up and do some video. Give the video away in exchange for some email addresses. Keep giving them solid information. Poll them, once you know them to find out what they want to know. Then create a product with your camtasia skills.

Aweber will cost you $20. Getting somebody to film, you next to nothing.

Put your giveaway in your sig files in your email as well as all of the fourms you frequent. Then go provide value to newbies in photoshop forums. Start a newbie for photoshop blog here. Build a little following, and create some WSOs around the questions you are getting.

Do some work for one of the WF gurus. Let them put on their stuff.. this was done by mwoolery.

Finally, James Foster, who I just got to know, last Friday says to change your ratio of doing/reading to 4 to 1 and you will start making money. Contact me and whatever I have in my library that is PLR, you are entitled to it. No opt in required.

I looked at Kajabi (at a client's request) when it was first launched. What I told my client was that I can duplicate just about everything Kajabi offers with these tools:

        1. Wordpress.
        2. Optimize Press theme
        3. wp eStore, wp Affiliate Platform and wp Member plugins
        4. An assortment of free plugins from Wordpress.org
        5. Aweber account
        6. A little time to design and build out the site.
        7. Some very low cost or free screen capture/video/audio programs

        Total one-time cost: $172
        Total recurring cost: $19/month

Plus, I own the files and control the hosting (Kajabi, at the time, didn't allow for downloads of the pages you created; that may have changed by now), and the domain belongs to me.

Just my $.02, but a bad deal unless you have a very large list, a system in place, and programmers/designers to help you build it out.

I like this combo instead of KAJABI.

[+] A Self Hosted Wordpress Blog
          [+] Optimizepress Theme
          [+] Video Created with Camtasia
[+] Hosted using Easy Video Player 2.0

I did a little test sales page here with that combo:

          Abs Blueprint

I need to hire someone to create a better header and ebook cover, but you get the idea.

          ...can't say enough about Optimizepress!

I need a WP theme that looks similar to the theme Kajabi uses. Anyone know of one? I know I can create one like that with OptimizePress but I have too many pages (135+) that were created before OP existed and I don't want to take all that time changing each one individually since OP doesn't have a global function yet.

That's a lot of different tools meaning you have to have all the skills to be able to configure and maintain them all.
The price of Kajabi is the price of not having to learn and manage all of those. IMHO.
Also they have upgraded all packages to give you more for you money. Check it out again.

I've been a user from the start. All my glitches have been resolved. Struggling to find anymore at the moment. They are starting to build in more and more functionality too and are starting to actively listen to new requests. I'm confidently looking forward to using Kajabi this year. And believe it is going to save me a ton of work and hassle
