It's the best "set-it-and-forget-it" host for the money out there. Great support superb uptime. I use them quite extensively as well as SEOHost.com which is owned by hostgator.

      I will just add...

I Like em too! Had em for a while, and switched to a less expensive solution, and it's not nearly as reliable.

Come to think of it, I wonder if my account is still up! They would be a good affiliate to promote!

But yes - What all these other posters have said. They are good!

Just don't put your stuff at GoDaddy... had a heck of a time for the past week moving my domains from them. Use NameCheap.com for your domain registrar.

      Good Luck!

I have 2 hosting accounts one on HostGator.com and the other one is on GoDaddy.com

Although I didn't find any problem at GoDaddy as I've seen so many people complaining here but if I ask to choose one from both then my vote is for HostGator.

One thing I like about HostGator is quick interface as compare to GoDaddy which is very slow.

I use them, but only for "shared hosting" - not for a VPS or anything else.

But if the stability of their shared hosting is anything to go by, I expect that quality will spill over to their VPS service, too.

They're very popular among "Warriors" here, and are renowned, on the whole, for having good customer service/support.

I have always used Hostgator and have never had one single problem with them. They always are reliable, have great prices, and have incredible support.

I have never waited more than an hour or two to get my questions answered, plus they have great live chat support too!

They are the best in my opinion.

HostGator has been great so far! I'm currently hosting 3 of my blogs with them..The uptime and customer support is the best...Once I get more traffic I'm definitely upgrading to their VPS plans.

Oh yeah if you guys are signing up for a web hosting plan on HostGator you can use my coupon code sbcreative. You only pay 1 cent for the 1st month then the regular monthly fees after that.

I used Hostgator for almost 4 years. The last year was horrific. I went to Namecheap (my favorite/present domain registrar) hosting and after 4 months switched to hostrocket.com

Wish I had discovered these guys 'at the outset' (8 years ago). I've changed domain registrars about 10 times; the worst ones 1and1.com, godaddy.com, hostway.com, domaincentral.com amoung a few others.

I've changed hosting about 12 times; the worst one being 1and1.com

It is said/estimated that 80% 'of us all' are incompetents:-( In registrars and hosting MY take is 95%.

    God Bless All!

I cast my vote for gator-boy too. The main reason is that I'm a bit technically challenged, and they are willing to spend hours on the phone explaining things to me 24/7, for $7 a month-amazing. What a contrast compared to most large companies where it takes a miracle to get to talk to a human at all, and often it turns out to be the wrong one, after waiting 30 minutes or more between wading through endless phone menus and listening to ugly hold music. By contrast, it only takes maybe 30-60 seconds on average to get a real human who knows something and does her/his best to help you, over at the gator. Refreshing doesn't begin to describe it.

Two thumbs up for hostgator here too. I have found their tech support people to be extremely helpful and knowledgeable, even when I often harass them with technical questions that are pretty much outside the scope of what they're required to know, lol.

They're not just helpful, but also incredibly knowledgeable about things way beyond the scope of regular hosting issues. Just about everyone I've talked to has gone out of their way to help me with issues that would not be strictly classified as purely hosting related.

id say yes to hostgator too. I have a shared hosting account through them not a VPS. but heres the thing. If they are prepared to spend so much time with support on the shared hosting customers and give such great service, i see no reason why they would not to a VPS customer.

Hostgator would be a good choice for your hosting, no doubt about that. They are having a 50% to 80% off on all their hosting plans for all term lengths only for today (26th of Nov) due to Black Friday! You can't miss this chance to get a hosting account with them.

To my knowledge, I've never experienced downtime with HG. Their customer service is great especially the Live Chat support. If I'm having any problems with uploads, you can bet that it will be around 2am here in Aus and goodness knows what time of the day that is in HG land. But thanks to their Live Chat support, my problems are solved even though the problems were sometimes, usually always, created by me. Occasionally I wonder if they will think that I'm intellectually challenged, but their support staff always treat me courteously and have never made me feel as if my problem is an imposition to them.
I'm happy to lead their cheer squad any day!

      Hi,

Do you want an additional reseller acc because you have to host many sites? I was thinking it would be nice to get my existing reseller acc at this price, but I think this special offer is only for new clients.

Hostgator is great - easy to use, easy to show to VA, good page generation time.

But their black friday promotion scares me. Hope it will not make them "another oversell hosting".

Excellent service. But unless you're on a two year plan, don't bother asking for discounts. And if you're already on a plan the black friday firesale won't apply to you. Stupid in my opinion. But the service is solid.

Hostgator is pathetic. They don't help, they just suspend your website without help. They just shut me off and said the only way they'll turn me back on is if I upgrade to the $174/mo dedicated server. My site gets 2500 visits per day.

My records indicate that I am only using 13% of the Memory Limit: 32M. My load averages are: 13.89 10.52 10.96.

yet I need to upgrade due to high CPU usage? It's a scam

Gearmonkey, I hope your site is earning more than the change it costs for their $9.95 hosting per month.

Anyhow, HostGator's support is great. Their uptime is good. Their extra's like Cloudflare are amazing!

Only thing I'm not really done about is the Black Friday Deal - that suddenly only was for new customers. On that 'fact' was nowhere to be found on their entire website and in their TOS, on which I agreed when purchasing.

Anyhow, I'm now in contact with their CEO. Mr Brent Oxley. I'm sure he can clarify a bit.

Except the package I have cost much, much more than the $9.95 thing you are boasting. If the package I currently have can't handle 2,500 visits per month, then I'd image the $9.95 package won't handle more than a 100 visits per day.

And their support is awful. You never talk to the same person twice and they constantly contradict each other. One support tech had me install 11 wordpress plugins to help my site's performance, the next tech told me that is too many plugins, then proceeded to tell me those are important plugins and I should consider keeping them.

Seriously, do they hire technicians from elementary school and train them with crayons?

Hostgator has been nothing but a hassle for me. I regret joining them.
