Should Main Street Marketing Members Buy Social Media Marketing?

Long time lurker, first time poster...

I've had TG for about 2 years now and I bought Mike's MSMM back in July '10, which was amazing.

Seriously, they really "upped the ante" with MSMM.

And being that I was already paying $247 a month for my original TG account, investing in MSMM was a no brainer, seeing as that I would get MSMM + a year of TG included---and it basically came out cheaper than if I didn't get MSMM and still paid $247 a month.

Now, it seems like Mike's done a product launch in as little as one week, as I didn't even realize until tonight that they were coming out with SMMM (a few weeks ago, TG was experiencing some tech. difficulties and was just recently fixed a week or so ago).

So now, I'm scrambling, trying to figure out if I should shell out another $1200 or so bucks...

Here are the stats for current MSMM members considering buying SMMM:

Since Feb 2009, we were already paying $247 a month for TG

That's $2964 a year for TG (that's their current price per month without buying MSMM or SMMM)

We paid $2,365.27 for MSMM (which included 1 year of an upgraded version of our original acct + 3 free months of OfflineBiz + all the MSMM goodies) --- so really, we had nothing to lose because it came out less than what we were already paying for TG per year.

Right now, since our 3 months was up, we are paying $99.95 a month for OfflineBiz.

If we buy SMMM now for $1297, that will extend our TG subscription for 8 more months, meaning it will expire March 2012

(if we don't buy SMMM, then after July 2011, we would then be back to paying $247 a month for TG -- $247 x 8 months= $1976 - so if we bought SMMM today, we'd be saving $679 for those 8 months)

plus we get the SMMM extras (there are really only a few add-ons on top of what we already have with MSMM, but I think it would be worth it anyway because we would be saving money in the long term, seeing as I have no intentions on canceling TG)

PLUS we would get a Free iPad (I just bought my mom one, and the one they'd be giving out for free is around $600 after taxes and stuff) and a Kodak Zi8 and 6 free months of OfflineBiz.

Ugh...I just realized this "quick" post turned into a really long rant...so here's my 2 cents in summation:

For MSMM members, don't get SMMM solely for the added features (it's basically MSMM plus a handful of new, cool, add-ons), get it because it'll extend your TG subscription, save you money in the long run, and upgrade your TG account and your MSMM account as well as give you 6 free months of OfflineBiz. Oh yeah, not to mention you'll also get a freakin' iPad and a new camera.

    Hi,

I think this may be in the wrong section and will probably get moved to the product review section if it disappears from here.

Please don't take this the wrong way because I don't buy any of the high ticket stuff anymore but, with the amount you're paying for all this stuff are you making it back in much larger amounts in revenue for you?

Its just I don't use any expensive products and seem to do very well.

oh definitely, for my main biz, starting clients pay $3200 min and then a continuing $700-$1500 a month depending on the niche and for my side businesses (affiliates & cross promos) it's alllll gravy because I consider that as my passive income.

of course, I keep myself up to date with current developments of Google, FB, YouTube and other high ranking sites to figure out the next thing I should be doing to enhance my services.

I agree with you that a veteran internet marketer could probably do without the expensive products, but I don't know how much free time that internet marketer would have to actually have a life if you're stuck working 100+ hours a week to stay on top...I don't know, I can't even imagine doing it all without TG, I really like the option of systematizing the process so that it can be delegated to many VAs while I go and travel.

If you're doing it, hey, much power to you, brotha!

p.s. It's nearly 5am my time, and I'm still awake. I just registered for Warrior Forum around 30 minutes ago, so my apologies if I've posted this thread incorrectly...you're an entrepreneur, you know how it is! I'm basically running on coffee

also, I was mistaken about the iPad and Kodak Zi8, Mike's not the one giving those out, it's actually a different dude doing Mike's SMMM challenge

        Oh thats good.

No problem spending that if you're recouping it in that amount.

I certainly don't work a 100 hours a week on my business, much of it runs itself. I do work hard but it's only because I'd like to retire young (ish)

Are you up at 5 from yesterday or did you start early? It'd take more than coffee to keep me up til 5am.

No need to apologise, just saying in case you wondered where it'd gone.

          I started 10am yesterday.
I do Eban Pagan's 50, 50, 30 thing, where you have 50min of focused time, then a 10min break, then another 50min of focused time, then another 10 minute break, and then a 30 minute meal, again and again all day long...really works, at least for me.

I used to down 5 cups of coffee back when I had a J.O.B. but now, I really only need 2 cups max. Oh, plus, I squeeze in a nap every now and then in those 30 minute breaks...oh, the joys of working from home!

I tend to do 20 minutes on 5 off throughout the day, simply because after 20 minutes my brain starts to wane.

Like you said what works for one may not for another. Your one means a lot of meals if you work 10am - 5am straight!

... and 6 free months of OfflineBiz.
Just a couple corrections on OfflineBiz.

You get it free for life with SMMM (or with MSMM) and it's only 19.95 per month for paid members. The link to join free for life is just inside the log in area of SMMM or MSMM

Everyone gets an ipad and Zi8?

edited to add - I could be wrong but that doesn't seem right at the upgrade price
