Digital Access Pass versus Wishlist Member? Why use one over the other?

I'm looking at a few membership site scripts and not sure what the difference is between Digital Access Pass and Wishlist Member. Why is one better than the other? Any advantages/disadvantages? I'm looking for real-world experience from people who have used both or either one, not a sales pitch. Can you explain?

  • I use wishlist.. why... support.. Also the add on wishlist insider is very useful , (it's a paid forum)
  • To me, out of all the plugins, scripts, and plans I've ever used, DAP is just better.

    Better functionality
    Better support
    Better features

    Just better
    • [ 4 ] Thanks
  • Any technical limitations or better features of either one? I noticed that with Wishlist member you can't use Authorize.net directly to process your orders and must go through an external shopping cart like 1shoppingcart. 1shoppingcart then charges you a $99 monthly free AND 25 cents for EACH recurring billing, EVERY month. So if you have 1,000 members that's an extra $250 out of your pocket, so a total of about $350/month extra you're paying. That's one big thing I noticed but I'm cautious that there may be other issues with either script. Any surprises like this in DAP? Any quirks you want to share?

    • I've used DAP on 4 occasions for non-IM stuff, and have never been "surprised" by anything. Every single review that I've ever read has been positive, and they are generally just pleasant to deal with.

With all that being said, our sites are pretty straight forward, and we're not doing all kinds of crazy stuff with them, but the functionality that it comes with I'm pretty sure would allow you to pretty much do whatever you want for the most part.

I've never used wishlist, but have heard good things about them as well, but don't have any first hand experience. They were next on our list if DAP didn't work out, fortunately though, they were exactly what we needed, easy to work with, and very cost efficient.

  • I have never recommended a product more than I do DAP. Ravi and his wife are exceptional with support and open to hearing ideas for expansion. The features of their software are second to none. Do a little research and I am sure that you will agree.

    • If you do a search in the "Internet marketing reviews" section of the forums you'll find several threads already about this. Here is a good one...

I'm also a DAP user. Their support is excellent and they're coming up with awesome new features all the time. And they have some pretty cool features coming down the pike.

I've never used Wishlist so I can't tell you why use one over the other. I've never had to since I'm happy with DAP.

    • Hi E. Brian,

I have about 40+ WSOs going through W+.
I started to use JVzoo a little bit.

Are you aware of any warrior using Nanacast with JVzoo to deliver their WSOs?

      thanks,

  • I am using DAP for my Internet marketing project (looked my sig) and you could view how DAP got a good grip at delivering content, protecting it and other aspect of a membership site.

My advice is, if you don't want to spend much time in setting up a membership site, you should go with DAP. DAP takes 30 minutes to set up, from downloading the package file until you finish setting up every thing for your membership site.

You could take a look at OptimizePress. it's a Wordpress theme to build a membership site that has full support for DAP.

What I didn't like about DAP is sometimes, sending broadcast email doesn't work because my consumers say they didn't receive email with username and password when they purchase. In addition, setting up SMTP host seems taking a long time as well.

You could look into MemberWing. It has a lots of nice features like the one which embeds a signature file with your files so you can track down who has shared your content illegally across the Internet.

    • I started using DAP two weeks ago after wasting my time and money with MagicMembers.

DAP is so easy to use and I got my first membership site up quite quickly.

Support is amazing. I created several membership sites with DAP and ran into a nice glitch. Veena fixed the problem immediately and I am a very happy customer.

They listen to their customers and (from reading the posts in the forum) add features that their loyal customers ask for.

Truly, just get DAP and you'll be happy.

  • Technical Limitations:
What I've found on technical limitations is that NEITHER Wishlist nor DAP are fully compatible (officially) with Wordpress Multisite.

Multisite is the future, and all plugins should have the ability to be multi-functional between Single-Site Wordpress & Multi-site.

This is a major drawback to both plugins I wish they would fix immediately. For example, another major Wordpress feature that is gaining traction is Buddy Press & the plugins. So, think of having the following scenario:
3 Membership sites on 1 Wordpress domain, using 1 wordpress install, showcasing the different members on each site (ie: buddypress), and a membership sign-up/pay/login process (ie: membership plugin). This all could be done with a membership plugin that caters to multisite. Otherwise, you would have to 3 total separate installs.

    • As Kevin mentioned, you may want to take a look at SiteManPro, I believe it will take care of all the above for you.

  • Okay, here's my story:

Built a new membership site using Wishlist Member. It was an absolute nightmare to work with, because there are serious problems right now with PayPal integration. My customers were being taken to the wrong page after payment and couldn't log in. This sucked, because I had just done a webinar and made 80 sales...now I had 80 people who couldn't log in to my site and were bombarding me with e-mails.

I e-mailed Wishlist customer support. No response. Looked on the support forum - like 10 people were having the same issue as me, and had been for a month. No real solution had been posted.

I had another webinar planned for the next day, which was a serious problem. I was anticipating 100 or more new sign-ups, and Wishlist Member wasn't working. Got an automated e-mail from tech support saying they would have an answer for me within a few days.

Nope. Not gonna cut it. I PM'd Ravi (the developer of DAP) and told him my situation. Within 15 minutes of my sending the PM, he was on the phone with me. He installed DAP for me personally, walked me through the installation and all the features, AND migrated all my existing members into DAP.

When you can send ONE PM and be talking on the phone to the guy who wrote the software within 15 minutes, that is customer support!

Since switching to DAP, it's been smooth sailing. Crisis avoided. DAP is the way to go. I'll be using it to secure all of my membership sites in the future.

  • Hi Rob, I'm a heavy DAP user for a little over a year and I run the ClickBump Member area and Products Dashboard with it.

The only complaint I've ever received from my users is when they use a different paypal email to purchase than the one they used initially. In this case, DAP was creating a second user account and they couldn't find their products under their original account. So I used to get lots of emails like, "Scott, I just ordered and my products are not showing up in the dashboard". And I had to go and remove the extra account and manually add the product to their existing account, which was a big hassle for me for a while.

That issue has since been resolved with DAP 4.0 (perhaps based in part on my pestering of Ravi and Veena), but the fact that they listened and implemented a solution is emblematic of how they do business.

Bottom line is that it works and It works well. They are constantly updating the software with feature requests and enhancements.

It does have some shortcomings in terms of allowing the admin to set up default user login/password requirements, but I'm working with Ravi and Veena to provide some feedback to help them enhance that feature in a future update.

So in closing, I can recommend DAP, with only a few reservations as mentioned, that they are either working on or I expect they will be in one of their frequent product updates.

If and when I hear back from Ravi on whether those enhancements will be in the upcoming 4.1 release, I can give it my unequivocal highest recommendation.

    • Hi,

For WP Membership plugins, important features I'm looking for are Flexible Membership Packaging, Payment Modules, Sequential Content Drip, Pay Per Post, Autoresponder Integration ( for other than aweber ), File Protection, S3 support, user-friendly and no major complaints in various forums.

After doing some research based on the above, I have shortlisted these awesome WP plugins : S2member, Magic Members and DAP.

From this thread, it seems most of the Warriors whom I have great respect for, are using DAP.

So, I'm bumping this thread up with a few questions regarding DAP.

      1. What are the minimum specifications needed by the hosting server to run DAP?

      2. I'm not a techie and love user-friendly installations. Can I install DAP without needing any help, just like I installed other plugins?

      3. Say I bought a single site license for a specific site using a particular domain. If I want to terminate that domain and server, do I get to transfer the license to another domain and server without any hassle?

      4. If I'm not satisfied with this plugin, is it easy to migrate the members data and product data out?

      5. If I'm satisfied with a single site license, can I get a discount for unlimited license?

      6. Has anyone integrate this system with WSO?

Hope to get some response from Ravi and others.

      I need a little nudge.
  • For a while, I used and recommended Wishlist Member. I no longer do. I'm in the process of migrating my entire business to Nanacast, hunting down all my threads and removing my endorsement for Wishlist. All my Wishlist Member sites experienced the same problems with "temp" users and people not being able to login. Plus, the plugin brought my site to a crawl every single time I enabled it. I'm talking about 8-10 second home page load times. Once deactivated, my home pages loaded within 0.8 - 2.0 seconds. That's a pretty big difference that Google (and customers) don't appreciate.

I tried DAP in the beginning. Support was very responsive but I ended up going with Nanacast in the end. I'll never look at another solution again.

    • Hello Jesus,

I like the way a fellow warrior deliver his WSOs using Optimize Press + Wishlist (instead of using W+ only)

Then I found out later by researching that Optimize Press + DAP is better because that would pretty much accommodate everything (W+, JVzoo, Clickbank, Digiresults, Ejunkie...)

Then somebody recommends Nanacast which seems to be the fastest "Time to Market"
However, I got worried when I get back from their support ticket "We don't know what JVzoo is"

And there is Infusionsoft and Kajabi...

What do you think is the best solution for me to securely deliver my video WSOs and possible have a Netflix style membership as an OTO options?

      Thank you,
      Dinh

  • Whilst I'd favour DAP over WishList any time (if it wasn't for me considering our own offering was now better than DAP, I'd recommend it unreservedly and I've never worked out WHY WishList is so popular, it seems to lack key features and it seems unless you want to pay extra, standard support is mainly peer support ), have you considered that there are many other good alternatives (and some shockingly bad ones).

Each has it's pros and cons, each has it's strengths and weaknesses and they all have very different price points. I always suggest people take the time to carefully look at their needs and find the best fit, rather than just jump at the ones others are using.

    • Hi Glenn,

I've seen and considered features of other membership plugins such as Your Members, Amember, Wishlist, eMember, Wp-Member, CMS Member, Members and SiteManPro.

I've used Memberwing and Membergate before.

And now I've shortlisted S2Member Pro, Magic Members and DAP.

The closest thing to DAP is Magic Members. S2Member Pro seems to be the best for robustness, compatibility with 3rd parties and price point.

Since you claim Your Member is better than DAP, I'll take a 3rd look at it.

  • @azmanar,

Got your PM asking me to comment on this thread.

I don't wish to put down a competitor just to make DAP look good and get a sale - especially not to Glenn, who's been very kind and generous in his comments about DAP throughout the WF in various threads.

I feel it would be more helpful to your research (and easier on my conscience :-) if you asked specific questions about how/whether DAP does "X" or "Y" or "Z" feature.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers!

    • Hi Ravi,

      Thanks for the response.

You're right and I understood. Glenn and Tim at Your Members are great guys.

Not asking you to put down Your Members at all. It has awesome features for users.

I have 6 simple questions up there, begging for answers. They are pretty generic pre-purchase questions that most people would ask.

      So here they are again:

      1. What are the best specifications needed by the hosting server to run DAP?

      5. If I'm satisfied with a single site license, can I get a discount for unlimited site license? ( special upgrade price ).

      6. Has anyone integrate this system with WSO?
  • Whoa...hold on a second.

    Your Members?

Last time I used that plugin, I couldn't get it to integrate with any autoresponder providers easily. They wanted me to hire PHP programmers to build the code that added subscribers to my list via the Your Member API!

Does Your Member have built-in, easy-to-integrate options for Aweber or GetResponse? If so, please include the full list. I see MailChimp, but MailChimp is "anti-affiliate" per their own terms of use which makes them a serious risk to any marketer offering affiliate products.

If these features aren't available yet, I highly recommend looking at alternate solutions.

    • Hi Jesus,

Yep, since we last chatted (around a year ago) we've long ago thrown away the old "Your Responder" (which was designed to be used by developers rather than end users, unless you were using the WP-Mailer) and replaced it with a entirely new MailManager (as I mentioned in an earlier post in this thread, we've been focusing on losing our "techie" edge and making everything much more user friendly and this is just one small move).

Whilst we're rightly proud of our MailChimp integration (MailChimp described it as one of the most complete integrations they've ever seen) we do appreciate that MailChimp aren't exactly "warrior friendly" so we added Awebber and CampaignMonitor support within a week of MailManager's launch too.

      I hope that helps,

      Glenn
  • Actually Jesus,

I remember reading recently in another thread that you've recently ditched WishList (yay !), so don't forget, when you purchased YM you got free updates for the lifetime of the product, so if you want to see how much YM has progressed from v1.6 (which I believe was the last one you used) to v10 then just drop me an email and I'll send you an up to date version.

    • Fantastic news, Glenn. I'm looking forward to the GetResponse integration if it's planned. GetResponse has an API that should make it relatively easy for you to setup. Once it's setup, I'll happily give the plugin another run for it's money. Your Member was the only plugin I've used that never presented *any* login issues. It was simply missing the GetResponse integration.

Yes, I've completely moved away from Wishlist. I have one last website I need to remove it from. They never resolved the issues with "temp" users and the plugin brought my sites to a crawl. It became quite frustrating to manage my membership sites.
      • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • I've added GetResponse to our todo board now. One of the dev team have had a look and said it looks like a fairly sensible API, which is promising.
  • Does anyone know of a membership plugin or script that will integrate with Wordpress and offer PayPal instant affiliate commissions? Or integrate with DigiResults or SimpleOneClick or another affiliate program that offers instant commissions? I want to eliminate the need for me to generate and send 1099 forms.

    Thanks,
    Allan

  • I use Wishlist and like it. I'm not having any problems with it dragging my site down. I *used* to have that problem, but not anymore.

I use Nanacast as my shopping cart and integrate it with Wishlist via an API call. It basically makes Wishlist work kinda like their MemberLock plug-in. I like the flexibility of Wordpress. I found trying to actually keep the content inside of Nanacast to be a bit annoying and their interface wonky. Great cart, though.

DAP is great. I do think Wishlist is easier to use, though.

    • Is there a WP membership solution that integrates with Kunaki?
  • Sorry wanted to post on this a while but not enough posts, now I got em lol. I know nothing about any membership software other than emember pro I used in the past which I would not rec. to my enemy and Profits Theme, Now don't get me wrong with what I have say.
Profits theme is good although I think they have few too many bugs. I like ole willy and the gang.
I did buy s3 media vault though from Ravi.
By the way Ravi this is the guy who can't get the video to play because of bad convert to mp4 lol.
Anyways I do know he gives me great support with that product. He is very friendly and understanding. I wish I had spent the other 70 bucks or so and bought dap but now I am already over budget and 12 hours into the PT script and don't want any more losses.

Thats my 2 cents worth if it's worth anything. Happy New Year. Wondering why no signature, checkout my profile and you will see.
  • I've used DAP, Wishlist, DLG, custom solutions...you name it.
Overall, I'd say DAP is the best solution in terms of ease of setup, as well as flexibility.
DLG is the most 'lightweight' so if you have coders at your disposal or are one yourself, you can make modifications easily.
Wishlist was kinda disappointing - it was neither as straightforward, nor as flexible as I thought it would be.

All in all - if you're in doubt go with DAP

    • Okay - so I'll be switching to DAP...

Does anyone know if you can use 1 set of pricing with the JVZoo system for Warrior members, but a totally different scenario for "outside" members? (I realize it creates multiple membership levels, just verifying that the IPN will work with alternate scenarios, i.e., not all coming from JVzoo).

  • No to throw a monkey in the wrench but I found DAP to be confusing. I liked how Wishlist didn't have a separate login for the membership side and just seemed better integrated with Wordpress. DAP is more powerful I believe but also more difficult to implement for me.
  • I'm building a large Credit Repair / Debt Consolidation / Debt Reduction website with a-lot of articles, programs for debt reduction and credit repair w/ videos, eBooks etc etc etc...I have to have drip content, WSO, Clickbank etc functionality...(oh yeah...and support...NOTHING is any good if support sucks...so when looking over a lot of different programs and checking out the forums, I am choosing DAP.
I reviewed all their videos, and while I am not a techi guy, it looked easy to me!

    • After much deliberation I have decided to purchase Digital Access Pass (DAP). There are many reasons for this and I would like to outline them for the benefit of others. Lets face it, its not easy choosing between the popular membership site scripts out there.

My initial search brought Wishlist and aMember, both of which had high Alexa rankings. This told me they are popular, so it must be for a reason, right?

Both products have good reputations and in my mind, there was a battle between the two!

This is when the problems started. Wishlist was built for WordPress and has a reputation for ease of use. aMember has a WordPress plugin but has a reputation for poor ease of use. (Note: this may have been addressed with their recent upgrade to v4). So, Wishlist was the king! But wait! Wishlist has poor forum integration - only forums such as SimplePress. aMember has great forum integration, supporting vBulletin and more. This is important, since members come for the content, but stay for the community. I had to have good forum integration!

Then a friend suggested Digital Access Pass to me. I've heard it mentioned before but never really looked at it in detail. I checked out the Alexa ranking and it was lower and therefore less popular than Wishlist and aMember. Then, I noticed how steep the rise in their Alexa ranking was. It was cutting into the sales of Wishlist and aMember hand over fist!

So why was Wishlist so popular? In my view its because they have a very slick website, very Web 2.0. Also it is easy to use. Why is aMember so popular? In a word, longevity. They have been around for years. However, monopolies get lazy and thats why they are upping their game with the recent increase in competition.

With the rapid rise in DAP's Alexa ranking, they are certainly the one to watch.

That is some of the general background, but why specificially did I go for DAP?

      - It is easy to use, just like Wishlist.

      - It was built as a WordPress plugin from the ground up, just like Wishlist.

      - It has forum integration with not just SimplePress (like Wishlist) but also vBulletin (like aMember), the de facto standard for forums.

      - The feature set of DAP has no holes in it. i.e. it does ALL of what I wanted, not 80% of it, like the other two mentioned products. This was critical.

      - It has a nice vBulletin support forum (which I like). Wishlist - as far as I am aware - only has a paid forum. Yes, it does include training videos etc. but I just wanted somewhere where I can read other peoples issues and post my own, without having to pay for the privilege.

      - The owner of DAP is very responsive to members suggestions, so the product grows in the direction people want - and rapidly as far as I can figure.

It took a long time to find out which route to go, because sometimes the sales pages for each product are rather vague and opaque. What I liked about the DAP site was that it gave plenty of specific information about what it could do. I liked that.

To my mind, DAP has the advantages of both Wishlist and aMember and none of the drawbacks. They have taken the best features of both products and eliminated the worst aspects. Since both those products have a fine pedigree, it suggests to me that Digital Acess Pass has the best combination of features and support currently available.

I hope you find this summary helpful.
      • [ 2 ] Thanks
  • 1. Sorry to hear you jumped the gun on amember. The new version is miles ahead of the old and is extremely flexible. None of these solutions are bad that I've read and people are happy with DAP.

    2. Azmanar's posts are excellent and dead on accurate. While I like what I'm reading about DAP, I ended up going with S2member for one main reason - S2M is not encoded. While I am impressed by the DAP support level, I've been burned badly by encoded scripts for registration at times when something doesn't work properly and I need support since there are some things I just can't see. Call it my own insecurity and it may not bother anyone else nor ever present a problem.

I think that S2M has the best price point of all, including its flexible licensing. I'm not sure what DAP does more than S2M that I'd really need but it would be interesting to see comparisons done independently of all of these scripts. I know that S2M does not provide many affiliate options out of the box and is made to buy separate plugins which, for many, can be an add-on. Depends upon what you need and price point. Excellent thread.

    • I just visited their website. I can't find any major announcements or improvements over version 3. I only see a lot of bug fixes and plugin fixes. Looks like V4 was a way to charge an "upgrade" fee to V3 users.

It still relies on plugins to integrate with WordPress, VBulletin and 3rd party systems. Last time I worked with Amember, those plugins were a pain to install and configure correctly. Also, Amember still hasn't integrated One Time Offers or Upsells. That should be enough for any sensible marketer to pass them by.

I've been the tech for Amember setups in the past. I'll never use them again. It's way too technical to setup for the average marketer.

  • Amber,

There is really only one single field that connects DAP & JVZoo. I just read your support ticket, and I see that we did try to help and ask you to do a test purchase, and your reply was "I'm not sure how to do a "test" purchase with JVZoo... ?" And then we told you to test the process by purchasing your own product as if a customer were buying it. And then we never heard back from you after that.

    >>When I contacted the support desk about this, the reply I got was to "pay myself" to test it. Unfortunately Paypal doesn't LET you pay yourself, so I'm not sure what she was thinking there.<<
If you weren't sure what "she" (who is Veena Prashanth, Co-Founder & Co-Developer of DAP who actually wrote the integration code for JVZoo among a lot of other things) was thinking, you could've simply asked, and we would've told you how :-). Too bad you "assumed" that we didn't know what we were talking about.

It's unfortunate that you don't know of anyone (friend/relative/subscriber/warrior) who has a Paypal account who could've helped you by making a test purchase themselves, and then you could've promptly refunded their payment. Also, Paypal allows you to create up to 2 accounts: one personal and one business/premier, which you're probably not aware of - you could've used one account to pay the other. Either way, if you had just asked us about how to do a test purchase, we would've helped you.

It is unfortunate that you launched the product without even testing once whether you have set up the DAP/JVZoo integration correctly.

Believe it or not, DAP works extremely well with JVZoo - many Warriors are using it just fine. Obviously, whether it was an issue with the IPN URL you entered into JVZoo, or maybe even something else, bottomline is that JVZoo wasn't setup correctly to notify DAP of the sale, which means DAP couldn't have known about the sale.

So instead of working with us where we would've gladly helped you resolve the problem, it's unfortunate that you would rather talk trash about us here, even dragging in some un-related "big marketer" :-). Well, whatever makes you happy :-)

You don't have to consider your DAP purchase a waste - we will gladly give you a refund - even if it's beyond the refund period. Just confirm. I'm not processing an automatic refund based on your "kind" words here, only because it will automatically shut down your DAP Admin.

    - Ravi Jayagopal
    • [1] reply
    • Wow - I didn't "trash" DAP - I gave an honest review from my experience.

I did NOT say I was asking for a refund, because I DO have it running for those who I approved.

I can see that it could be useful for its OWN affiliate program, (one of the things that did lean me to it over wishlist) - should I choose to do that in future. Another reason why I did not refund. Obviously being its own program, there would be no integration issues, so I didn't worry about that.

However yes I did have issues, Yes the IPN is set up exactly as instructed, and YES people did get access (I did say that above) but they did not get PAID access. And YES I did test BEFORE I ran it, had a friend test it, and it seemed to work fine then, he got access (free.... which I obviously didn't realize at the time, obviously he thought it was as it was supposed to be.)

I didn't bother replying to the support ticket because by that point I'd already flipped to the download being at JVZoo. (Note though, I didn't see a response come through my email, so I thought there were no further responses, and didn't bother to log in to check). Obviously email glitch, neither of our faults.

Please don't attack people for giving an honest review of THEIR experience which I do have the right to do.

Trust me, I'm not new here. And that big marketer had previously mentioned on this board that he liked dap - so obviously something was up that he sent me that email to change how my delivery was.

For the purpose of this WSO - yes, I do feel like it was a waste because I could have launched 2 days earlier - but I'm not refunding. If it's on my site - I don't do that. If I deleted it, I would have. But customers have access, so obviously it's there for use.

I'm not a techno wizard, so if it required additional programming tweaks, then obviously that's something I wasn't aware of. I understood it was sold to be a working thing right out of the box, and for the most part it was. I did agree on that. And I'm not an idiot, I can get around a lot of scripts quite well.

But I do have the right to state if I'm not pleased/impressed. I didn't say it didn't have merit - I said *I* wasn't impressed.

I've used at least 2 dozen affiliate scripts/software since 1997... I am not a newbie by any means, so please don't imply that I am.

I'm simply stating *My* experience/opinion, not bashing.

  • If you want Wordpress it is my view that DAP is the best.

If you don't want Wordpress Steve Odette's Rapid Residual Pro is pretty awesome.

I would like to be able to use DAP with Multisite and I am not sure if I can, whch is how I found this thread. However I have been using DAP since I started releasing products and am very pleased with it.

My only two slight reservations with it are that I think I have to use paypal email addresses via IPN and would really like to be able to get people to choose their own user name and passwords when they sign up, and that it doesn't support WP multisite and a lot of my sites are all going that way now.

    • Fully agree with this. Rapid Residual Pro (RRP) is pretty awesome, it has it's own build in Blog to compensate for Wordpress. If you want more than one membership site RRP can be pretty expensive because they only sell (standard) 1 site licenses. Some people with many membership sites use several systems, like RRP and WP+DAP or WP + Wishlist. In the WP market most people also use optimizepress as theme or maybe the recently introduced theme SalesPressPro. I find it rather difficult to choose between DAP versus Wishlist, although looking at all the features included probably DAP is the better choice. The fact you can test DAP and Wishlist (both have a refund option) does not really make the choice easier in my opinion, since testing a membershipsite takes (a lot of) time. The best is if you look at and compare the features you get from both, how many additional plugins you would need to suit your specs for the membershipsite and based on that make a choice.

  • As I research these membership scripts I find kinda what I expected. Not one of these scripts are perfect for everyone. Some people use them differently than other people.

If you were to go create a new membership plugin at this time it would have to do most everything the older scripts did plus fill some of the voids of the older scripts to avoid being a "me too" script.

It seems that DAP may have the edge for me. Part of how I came to that conclusion was to look at the satisfied marketers that are using it much the same way I want to. If they are happy I will probably be happy.

Most of you it seems have tried several membership scripts and at least in this thread seem to have zeroed in on DAP.

I guess that will be my first one (& hopefully last one) to try.

Thanks to all for a very valuable thread.

  • Ravi, this thread has sold me on DAP. One question though. Eventually, I plan on using InfusionSoft for autoresponder/affiliates/direct mail and physical product distributions/payment. Are you looking at integrating with InfusionSoft any time in the near future?

  • ravi can you check your PM please, thanks
  • If DAP had organised step by step workflow videos for setting up your membership site, that would probably make them a winner.
Yes, there will be a defensive response I know, but the truth is when you are in the members area, it takes alot of navigating to find simple stuff you need to work with.

Has anyone tried buying the Upsell Tree Plugin from the DAP site? Even when you click the buy button, you're taken to the main DAP order page where the only mention of it is as part of the MSIAB.

Great piece of software no doubt, but the learning curve could be shortened.

Hmmm, maybe I'll master all the nuances and issues of setting this up and make a product out of that? Hmmm. Hey, you better not steal my idea. I'll be watching

    • Hi Salathiel,

We wanted to make the the Paypal Upsell-Tree plugin more customizable, as many had been asking for it.

And since we are thick in the middle of developing for the next release of DAP, we had initially changed the sales "tab" on our buy page for that plugin, to say that we're currently not selling it. The plan was to bring it back after we updated it.

And then we got a WHOLE bunch of new support requests and emails asking us why we weren't selling it, when the new version was coming out etc :-)

So, to temporarily avoid support overhead, it was easier for us to just remove that tab completely, so the number of requests asking about it went way down.

But it led to a different issue, because now folks were wondering how to buy the plugin. So we're temporarily (and briefly) stuck in a no-win situation :-)

Anyway, we got so many requests, that we eventually decided to just buckle down and update the plugin asap - it will soon be available for purchase along with the next release of DAP.

We have also planned a major consolidation of the current documentation once this next release comes out, so appreciate your feedback.

      Cheers!

    • I agree with you.

Having recently set up my first DAP site it would have been easier and quicker if the work flow was more step by step especially if you are setting up a true membership site with dripped content. Not just using it to protect products to be downloaded.

However the support has been good and response with many tickets answered the same day or at the most the next day which has helped a lot.

I did find some important features lacking that a robust membership site script should have but am happy to hear that many of them are in the update that I understand is coming soon.

  • I have both DAP and Wish List. Both of them are good, but for newcomers like me, Wish List is much easier to use. Once activated, the plugin will create a wizard for you to ease configuration process. Wish List also can easily be integrated with Clickbank.

    • I never ended-up setting up the membership website. But when I looked again recently, I noticed that Wishlist hasn't updated in over a year. Seems like they got lazy and now all their focus is on their Wishlist Insider membership community. Also, their support forums had a lot of people complaining about bugs, unanswered tickets, features missing, etc. Wonder what's going on over there? Anyone know?
  • Fascinating thread.

I am reading this due to the fact that with my meagre skills I still have a malfunctioning website.

All was going well. Nice Optimizepress site etc, but I needed to move onto the membership aspect. Dap was highly recommended so I went with this option. The wheels fell off at this point!

I have had the absolute pleasure of Ravi assisting me to implement dap on two occasions he was so polite even in the face of me ruining his earlier work, however a month on I feel like a leper, I am shut out by the incomprehensibility of the system.

My answer was to get some outside help. I put up requests on Elance for experts on dap, 1 site automation, aweber and optimise press.

This was a very stupid thing to do, as the contractors just completely ruined the implementation of all three.

However I have recovered to the point of Ravis fine work now, so merely have a dis functioning site rather than a ruined one.

I would dearly love to have a simple overview of the way dap and optimise press fit together. I get glimpses of this by watching the videos on both support sites, but they are fleeting glimpses.

I can not overstate how wonderful the dap support is, even though the basic system is still not working for me.

i am seeking advice on the next step. What is a practical next step?

  • Any DAP users purchase Membership Site in a Box? I am pretty sold on DAP for my membership site from the majority of the reviews and recommendations. I know enough about WP to be dangerous. But it is my experience that getting started and finishing a site is almost impossible for me. And as with Optimize Press the more options I have the more I become indecisive. I am concerned that it may be the same with DAP if I go with a basic Site License. My other option is to have a VA Complete the site and integrate DAP. Also the 7 free plugins Ravi offers with MSIAB interests me. Any feedback would be much appreciated.
