Keyword Research Tools

Can anyone give an objective comparison among the "name" tools available? Market Samurai has a lot of buzz, seems to have some powerful features, but is also having what seem to be significant issues with some but not all users. How does it really stack up against the old standbys like Wordtracker (paid), Nichebot, Wordze, etc?
Thanks.

    Search is your friend. Most here will recommend Market Samurai as it does WAY more than just niche research. And among the tools you can get is one of the cheapest and provides the most value. You DO need a half decent net connection and computer. But keyword research takes minutes as opposed to the old way.

      I would agree with cypherslock; best of all, the core keyword research module - which still does a lot - is free.

      As for the "old standby's" like Wordtracker, it's still a good tool. I use their data for cross-checking purposes. SEOBook (http://tools.seobook.com/) is a good resource including a free tool that will give you side-by-side numbers for Wordtracker and Google data.

      Most tools, including MS, use Google's data, so it becomes more a matter of 'other' features, such as competition analysis. There again, you can't go wrong with MS. That said, I lean heavily on Micro Niche Finder, which has many similar capabilities, but has a lower learning curve.

      Half decent as in...? I have cable ISP. What sort of RAM do you recommend? I couldn't find any specs on their site.
      Thanks.

        The 1G dedicated RAM is essential; Market Samurai currently uses all that, and anything more than 1G will perform better. It runs on Adobe Air, which uses half a gig itself.

        If all you want is a tool for keyword research, then you can do that for free with Market Samurai. Just download the free trial and at the end of the trial you get to keep the keyword research module for ever.

        If you want to be able to analyse the competition for those keywords, and also try out the other modules, then you can still try all those during the trial period.

        I recommend taking the trial when you have a window of time, since it helps if you follow the trainings, which are superb.

    You've got cable so you'll be fine. Any computer within the last 3 years will run MS. Quick search in google found this directly from their support pages:

    "The recommended system requirements for running Market Samurai are as follows:

    Windows

    * Intel Pentium 2GHz or faster processor
    * Windows XP with Service Pack 2; or Windows Vista Home Premium, Business, Ultimate, or Enterprise
    * 1Gb of RAM or greater
    * Minimum Screen Resolution of 1024 X 768
    * The latest version of Adobe Air (free download)
    * Broadband Internet connection or greater (Minimum recommended speed 512 Kbps)

    Mac OS X

    * Intel Core Duo 1.33GHz or faster processor
    * Mac OS X 10.5.1 or later
    * The latest version of Adobe Air (free download)
    * 1Gb of RAM or greater
    * Minimum Screen Resolution of 1024 X 768
    * Broadband Internet connection or greater (Minimum recommended speed 256 Kbps)

    While Market Samurai may work on computers with lower specifications, some users have reported problems using Market Samurai on computers that do not meet these requirements."

    Market Samurai, Traffic Travis, serpAttacks, etc.

    They are all good, I have listed them in the order I use them. I kind of use them all, because they each have their flaws.
