Use getresponse it is cheaper then Aweber...Assuming you have big list...

Aweber charges $100+ for 10000 Email ids, whereas Getresponse will charge u around $18 for it...

I use both Aweber and GetResponse, but GetResponse is far better in application, customization and price. I like GetResponse. Aweber is the default leader with Internet Marketers, but GetResponse is very good as well.

What is it with people not reading the question? He said he wanted it installed on his server, darn it.

I had the same thing, both here and other forums. People seem to think an autoresponder is a service you rent but it needn't be.

Kurtgeer, do a search for, hang on I'll find it for you..

    AMLM

There ya go. Play with the free demo but do NOT try to upgrade it, pain in the neck, just play, see if you like it and then uninstall. Then if you do like it, go directly for the paid version. The upgrade is more hassle than installing it from scratch.

I warn you in advance the videos will drive you crazy, I mind head-banging crazy and the customer service is.... well there isn't much, but the script itself is great, best I've ever found and have tried at least 6.

    Kurt,
the best program I've used is Autoresponse Plus. I've only had problems installing on old Plesk control panels, but straight Linux systems have never been a problem. Besides - they have a great support system.

Another big program is Mail loop - but I've never used it so can't comment.

I have used another PC based system called World Merge. Its not an AR, but is a great newsletter email program.

    best,

    Hey Kurt,

I would strongly advise you to use a remotely hosted service instead of a self hosted service. The reason being, deliverability. There's only 1 provider, that I know of, which has attained 100% deliverability as reported by the leading deliverability reporting agency, SenderScore.org (who is now owned by ReturnPath).

The other thing you want to look for when selecting a remotely hosted autoresponder service is their support hours. If you're like most of us, you're building your online business after 8pm and on weekends and perhaps even on holidays. Most providers do not offer weekend support or support on holidays and usually tend to be unavailable to answer questions between 8pm - 8am.

Let me know how I can help!

Yeah they charge you for every entry in your list. You can only delete 100 entries at a time so if you have thousands of unsubscribed it can take a while...

But, you can always contact support (call, chat, ticket) and have them delete them for you.

Wow, that could get costly over time... wonder why they don't offer a "bulk delete" feature then allow you to select which type of contacts you'd like to purge?

Haha, well i always assumed it has something to do with getting costly over time (read: more money for them) but it's not a big enough problem for me to bother switching services as I like most other things about aweber.

IncomeBuddy is priced 60% LESS than comparable autoresponder services.

IncomeBuddy is the ONLY autoresponder service that offers around-the-clock support and training available on both weekends and holidays.

Well, aweber is my top pick because of delivery rate, but if you must have one installed on your own domain I would use Auto Response Plus... I have used them for years it's a good solution for email marketing...

Neal offers good support and they will install it for you as well. I think you get 1 install free with your purchase. I'm not sure on that as it has been a few years since I purchased mine...

I would suggest using a service like aweber.com instead of trying to send emails from your host. It could bring you some problems with relayed mail and not getting them fast enough to your subscribers.

Or even worse some hosts only allow a certain amount of emails that go out each day.

    So caution.

You don't want to do your mailings in-house unless your list is <1000 subscribers and you are best friends with your web host. Most web hosts will throttle your send rate and MOST web hosts have horrible deliverability which means a large portion of your emails will be MIA.

Do it right, outsource it to professionals and spend your time doing what you do best. ;-)

Maybe i'm looking for something different.

But suppose you already have an existing subscribers list, which email software doesn't require an again subscription confirmation when i importing mine existing list in the email software.

I used Getresponse, but as soon as i import an existing subscriber it will send him/her an message again that it must approve getting emails...this is very stupid for mine business since people already have signed up via mine regular webpage thus already agreed and now i'm asking them again........

Any emailsoftware out there which does what i want, and not reading the rules to me how i must handle mine business things?

Main purpose i need is sending out newsletters.

    Hey Ronbra,

Where is your existing subscriber list presently hosted?

      Hello Denniston,

No opt-in needed, is an e-commerce store, people buy stuff/register and they choose for recieving newsletters, for now we are doing it one by one from our webshop, but the list is too big so we want to automate that etc.

So the only thing is we need software/email marketing service which accept an cusomert list to import without any again confirmation things.

    Hey Ronbra,

You will need to double opt everyone you add to your list otherwise you are going to encounter problems with deliverability and potentially legal issues due to not receiving consent from those you email. If these are legitimate requests you are receiving and I'm sure they are based upon what you are saying, then you should see 75% or more of them confirm their subscription to your mailing list. Don't worry about the others, they are not going to make you any money... focus only on those who grant you permission to send them emails.

I can work with you to help you maximize your conversion of unconfirmed-to-confirmed if you'd like. I do this sort of stuff daily. ;-)

I use both Aweber and iContact but I'm in the process of switching everything over to iContact for the MAIN reason that I can manually add contacts to my iContact lists.

I have a lot of clients and prospects with whom I previously communicated with but have not opted into my autoresponders. I need a way to communicate with them to eventually get them onto my list or, better yet, to get them as a client. (I'm a direct mail printer.)

Aweber only allows double-opt-ins and I don't want to be communicating with them through Outlook.

iContact has a very user-friendly interface but doesn't have a webform wizard like Aweber but I'm sure they're going to be adding features as they grow. They're probably a little cheaper than Aweber.

The BIGGEST problem with switching though is that you'll need to replicate all of your autoresponders, so try to stick to one company.
      {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[468260].message }}

        Hey Rainer,

iContact does not require double opt-in? This is a serious problem if so... not a good idea, the major email providers require double opt-in and will block you if they find out your emails are single opt-in. Double opt-in is best practice, it's for YOUR protection.

Hosted email delivery is the only way to go. The setup you have to go through when setting up a new series, link tracking, etc is all very time consuming. Outsourcing is the way to go. Server resources is also a big consideration and if you are ever accused of SPAM, it goes through the hosted service. So if you are using a Double-Opt-in method for verifying all subscribers, which you MUST DO, then you will be able to cover your tracks. Getresponse and Aweber do this for you.

I prefer Getresponse only because it is much cheaper than Aweber and it has 99% of the same features.

iContact does have the option for double opt-in and I always use it for new subscribers.

However, I want to communicate (not with autoresponders) with my clients and prospects with whom I have had previous communications.

I have used GetResponse but I canceled it. I was very disappointed with them. Their website and offer look great-but when you are already client you begin to notice that things are a bit "different" than in advertisement. I do not want to go too deep in it - I do not want to make them bad PR. Maybe it's just me.

Anyway - I am now using SendStream and ZebraTracks. The first one looks great. It is a bit costly, but is very 'simple', user friendly and 'clean' This is what I like-to have my hands free. Zebra seems to be more complex with all those templates. I will also take a look at iContact as I did not know about them yet.

autoresponseplus.com is lightyears ahead of both aweber and getresponse.

It's self-hosted. So it's on your own server.

If you'll go self-hosted solution, keep this in mind:

    1) Must be on a domain that has it's own unique IP assigned, and no other domains are using that IP.

    2) Check that you're NOT on blacklists every 1 week. Check at: http://www.rulesemporium.com/cgi-bin/uribl.cgi (Put in your website, and select "All URBS")

In general, ARP3 is 100000x more powerful, flexible, customizable and feature packed then any autoresponder out there. Especially Aweber and GetResponse, which everyone is endorsing. Why?

Because they're a BROKEN GRAMOPHONE repeating what everyone else is saying, without actually having compared each one and used each one to know.

    Thanks for all the responses

Since the original post I have installed
Mail Master Pro available here by Wes Blaylock
It's cgi based and on MY Website and have not had any problems at all.

I have tried numerous email clients over the past few years
and found that I want more control with less money put out.

Don't get me wrong, Aweber and Get response are fine products with monthly dues,
where as you pay once and that's it.

It's the same with webhosting. Why pay more when you can get it for less, without all the bells and whistles if you don't want them.
