What do you guys think about quality of iContact as compared to other Autoresponders?

Hi warriors

I just found out recently that iContact has a new plan in place that allows people to sign up for free and send up to 2k emails per month if they have 500 subscribers and below. Only if you have 501 subscribers and above you will be required to pay.

What do you guys think of iContact's quality as an autoresponder as compared to other big boys such as Aweber and Getresponse?

I'm fully aware that most people are using Aweber and has a lot of good things to say about Aweber. Actually I'm also using Aweber now and feels that it's pretty good.

Just wish to gain some perspectives from current iContact users on how you think about its quality. I reckon this new policy from iContact is very good because it will benefit alot of internet marketers whose list are 500 and below.

    this is really good move from icontact to offer up to 500 subscribers for free. As for autoresponder, I think it`s quite good, maybe not the top one like aweber, but definetly worth of a try, especially if it`s free.

    Have seen many IM`s using it

    IContact is worce than Aweber, - as has much less options, and has no graphics done for you!
    Also navigation not so easy, in addition - it is not cheaper at all, so why go with it?
    Simply because it gives moth or 2 of a free trial?
    Aweber is better!

      No graphics done for us meaning what sort of graphics?

      Not sure about the navigation because I have not used before. If we wish to compare in terms of price, it is certainly cheaper than Aweber especially for the lower tier onwards.

        I just checked little comparison between iContact and aweber..

        "Aweber has tons of great features, but overall iContact does seem more user-friendly and has better usability.           I've used both AWeber and iContact so have experience
          of using both.

          The iContact interface is a lot easier to navigate and
          they'll let you import a list without requiring them to
          re-confirm.

          The iContact system also has an integrated survey feature
          which is good for finding out what your lists want, etc.

          The AWeber interface is more complex but that is because
          it has more functionality.

          There are some features in AWeber that iContact doesn't
          have. For example, AWeber have list automation features
          like unsubscribe-on-subscribe, etc.

          AWeber are also one of the first autoresponders to be
          integrated into other third party softwares like membership
          sites, video software, etc.

          Both AWeber and iContact are good choices and each come
          with their own pros and cons.

    I'd recommend mailchimp anytime. You'd get to send out 2000 or 5000 free emails per month up to 1000 subscribers (I think).

    iContact's a TechStar start-up, and it has gotten quite a lot of good coverage due to its status.

      We just need to note that Mailchimp does not like affiliates (unfortunately). So we gotta be a bit more careful with Mailchimp.

      So I reckon you would think iContact is recommended?

    I gave iContact a try. I sent out one email informing my customers of a new blog I was offering, which is what the list was created for ... a notification list.

    The next time I logged in, my acct was frozen. Didn't even bother seeing what steps they wanted me to take ... it was BS and I don't have time or money for BS. Went with Aweber reseller automateyourlist and never have a problem.

      You did not try to find out about the reason eventually?

        No ... like I said. The account was about a week old. Only one email sent. Figured if they were going to do this crap this early in the game, thanks for the warning. I'll go elsewhere before the list gets bigger and more difficult to move.

        I don't want to know their reason. The fact they did that without providing a reason is enough for me to leave.

    Thanks for your thoughts! Seems like iContact and Aweber both have their own set of advantages, with iContact standing out more on usability and price, but Aweber with their undoubted quality of service capability.

            That would explain how come I'm getting so many emails from people I've never opted in to!!
            I'm guessing whoever hacked Awebers databases some time ago must have sold them on for importing to icontact? ... Especially as I have one email address that has only Ever been used to optin to 3 other sites, All with an awebver list - but now receives emails from unheard of marketers on icontact!

              I've seen a lot of replies focusing on price and features, which is fine I guess when considering which email marketing service to use...

              ...but not one person hasn't focused on what I believe is the most important factor when deciding on who to use.

              And that is DELIVERABILITY

              In other words, what percentage of the emails you send your message to will actually receive it in their inbox.

              I understand price is a concern for obvious reasons, but what really should play a major role in who you decide to use is how many people who you send emails will get the email.

              Supposedly Aweber is one of the best when it comes to this as they have people dedicated to maintaining strong relationships with all of the ISP's and Email clients.

              I can't speak for I-Contact personally since I've never used them, but I'm under the impression they are good too.

              However, basing the fact that they will let anyone import leads into their service without requiring them to re-confirm they want to be on the list, I would venture to think that they're deliverability isn't as good.

              Maybe someone who has used BOTH can chime in and share their deliverability.

                Many of the clients I work with already had their own email marketing setup. We just continued using their providers in most cases.

                Constant Contact is my least favorite, followed by iContact.

                The only benefit I have seen to iContact is that it is easy to import contacts without the user having to confirm. While, this is something spammers have taken advantage of, it makes it easy for a brick and mortar business to get email signup inside their physical location and import those email addresses into their system.

                Other than that, I hate their interface. Delivery rate has not been a huge issue, although it seems to be slightly lower than Aweber's.

                  iContact is basic to use, but I found it difficult to cut, paste and modify the web form as I liked.

                  With Aweber, you put in the Java script code, change anything you'd like about the web form, and the change is automatically updated.

                  One thing that's a bit annoying about iContact is that even though you've stopped using their autoresponder, the other members using iContact can still send you promotional emails.

                  I can't remember if I agreed to this or not when I first signed up to iContact, but I still occasionally get promos from people their members.

    I don't know about you but lately I've been getting more spam from wannabee internet marketers who have imported harvested emails into some icontact account and spam the hell out of the list.

    I've used aweber for years and sure it costs but the email gets through, due to their strict policies on subscriber sourcing (not allowing imports etc.).

    You get what you pay for...

      That's because they're collecting via InfusionSoft, then importing to iContact. BUT....they're not scrubbing the unsubscribes from InfusionSoft. I'm not sure if iContact keeps a permanent record of unsubs and prevents re-importing them.

    I know that both programs are email autoresponders, but does either of them allow me to collect custom fields such as street address? I dont' want to spring for blue orchid or infusionsoft right now ($$$) but want a way to collect addresses, other than manually in a spreadsheet.

      They should all have custom fields to grab this info. I know GetResponse has unlimited custom fields and Aweber has 25.

    It seems like Aweber is a no brainer for any marketers who wish to have a long term business, but for the benefit of newbie marketers, will anyone recommend using iContact as their autoresponders?

    The most compelling feature they have currently, is the free use for 500 or less subscribers.
