I need membership software advice

I am considering amember and easy memberpro.

I like that i can try amember out for 30 days free trial. unfortunately, there support does not have a phone and i don't know how to work with the ion cube thingy on Go Daddy hosted website.

Easy Member Pro is about $100 less. i get to pay and refund within 60 days. not bad. but, doesn't host on go daddy and it too uses ion cube.

has anyone used either one? suggestions?

thank you.

There are the WordPress membership options...

    Wishlist Member
    Digital Access Pass
    Nanacast

All those also integrate well with OptimizePress....so OptimizePress gives you the "look" and feel along with easy creation of squeeze pages, sales pages, member content pages.

And the WordPress membership software runs the back-end of the site. Controls access to content, drip feeds it, delivers it, etc, etc.

There is also WP-Member...and Magic Members...and S2Member(which is powerful and free)...with more features available in S2MemberPro.

Also WPMUdev....which has a membership plugin and tons of other plugins and themes for WP.

Digital Access Pass is awesome, however you might want to look into the Profits Theme. It is a wordpress theme that is offered by one of the members on the forum. It allows you to host a membership site, in addition to creating sales letters, squeeze pages, and blogs.

It's a great theme and it is cheaper than the other membership site options with the extra functionality.

    You could also look at:

    RAP Member Plus
    MemberWing X
    DL Guard

    All top notch.

    Thanks,

      Can't go wrong with

      aMember
      Nanacast
      Profits Theme
      Digital Access Pass

Remember to consider scalability. You want to make sure you the software does not only what you want it to do know, but also what you'll need when your site has grown. Nothing worse than trying to change membership software when your site is already popular.

I had a look at this and it looked great apart from no drip feed and only 1 level of membership...paid. That really knocks a lot of people out of the running to use it.

still hunting an answer to me question above if anyone knows too.

First things first - get your site off GoDaddy hosting and put it somewhere else. I use (and love) Dreamhost but a lot of people here use Host Gator. GoDaddy hosting sucks and it will inevitably let you down, probably at the worst possible time.

Re: membership software... I use aMember. It is a little pricey but I like it. Their support is fantastic so don't worry about that. Configuring it is something of a hassle but once you get the hang of it it isn't too bad.

Get this done, while you're assessing membership software - not after!

      Hi Rich,

Just wondering if you've heard of anyone having issues running OptimizePress on sites hosted by Godaddy?

I recently installed OptimizePress onto a subdirectory of my Wordpress blog, which I have hosted with GoDaddy. I set up a squeeze page and ran a promotion to my list this morning to drive traffic to it.

Unfortunately I've had a whole slew of subscribers complaining that they are seeing a 404 error message when they try to access this page. I included the direct link to the page in the promotion, so there's no question I sent out the correct URL.

I have no idea what is causing this problem but need to figure it out before roll out more promotions to my list.

Do you know of any other customers who have had OptimizePress issues with GoDaddy hosting?

      Thanks in advance.

Yep, get out of GoDaddy and buy optimizepress and DAP. I think there is a guy in this forum called pavaan, who can set it up this for you for $35 dollars or something like that. Hassle free if you are not a techie. I am techie but still I prefer to use someone else who can do these things every day.

I personally use Pay Gear for my affiliate management... they have proven to be up there if not better than any other program I've come across... anyways, point is they have a free membership site & affiliate management software to pair with their original services. Simply put it works amazingly!

Here's the features page, which are all for free of course:

I like Plimus for memberships. You can do trials, money back guarantee, it has build in affiliate support if you wish. And, probably the biggest selling point, you can accept PayPal, MoneyBookers and regular payments like CC/Debit card.

You can also do varying subscriptions like 6 month/1 year/lifetime with discounts. Works well for me and you can customize the order page completely to look like its a page on your site. Also, no upfront fees to use, they just do a %age like paypal would on each charge.

    Elizabeth,

GD is bad host ab ovo... There is no other way to say it.

WordPress on GD has always been a big problem. A nightmare. Nothing works like on normal hosts. Run away...

Hi there. I have ended up with magic members and optimize press. There doesn't seem to be any documentation on how these integrate. Does anyone know if there is a guide or is there anything specific I need to know to get then to integrate? That is if they do at all but i suspect they do.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

      Thanks.

    Here's my .02 on this:

HTML sites: amemberpro hands down. Do NOT use this for wordpress sites unless and even if you do have a clone of the site using WPTWIN

For Wordpress sites, am reviewing options, but WishList has a really slow response time on issues and when they find they have a bug, there's no good response on when they can fix it by or any work arounds. Additionally exporting a csv from their plugin will produce a result that when reimported will not do you any good.

And when you import members, even using their csv file, all members join dates are set to the date of the import, not the date in the csv file. They're working to fix that bug that I showed them. I got a refund. Am looking at Magic Members right now, but it does not support 1shoppingcart which is not a show stopper because you can easily set people up via autoresponder with a generic password for a membership level or give them a coupon code (i think) to enter once they've signed up.

Am working with some idea people to see if creating our own membership plugin would be a good idea or not. If we do, warriors will be the first group to get their hands on it.

    Hello!

Digital access pass is great. It's very useful and easy to use, less hustle and a really nice workspace. It allows you to create a membership site, sales letters, squeeze pages, and blogs. It's also cheaper than others but is very effective.

    Best of Luck!
