netfirms. They offer free domain privacy and if you use their promo495 coupon you get the domain for $4.95. Hope this helps.

Oh yes, thanks for that update.
Confirmed, I tried to add a second domain
and it' doesn't get discounted to the $1 price.

btw I hate GoDaddy. I have an account there
just to make it easier for when I occasionally
buy/sell domains and other party is on GoDaddy.

ONCE UPON A TIME there was a Warrior named Bob. He was sad. And frustrated. You see, Warrior Bob spent every last nickel on Internet Marketing e-books. But nothing panned out. No traffic. No sales. He was one sad Bob. Then one day Bob found a bottle. He rubbed it and out came a Genie who granted him 3 wishes. For Wish #1 Bob asked for a pet Dragon. Wish Granted. For Wish #2, Bob wanted Warriors' websites seen by 53 million TV viewers, for under $5 per broadcast. The Genie said... (click here)

I used to buy domains from Godaddy when they do $1 promo.. but privacy is not included. When i add privacy, the price is almost the same as NameCheap..

The down-side when going to Godaddy is that the price for renewal is higher(if i remember correctly) and Godaddy's domain propagation is much longer than namecheap or internet.bs

Unless I bought my domain on sale, my renewal prices at Godaddy are the same, which is why I typically buy 5 years at the sale price.

I've never had a domain take more than 2 minutes to propagate using Godaddy, and I've been using them many years now.

But Godaddy has never included whois privacy in the price, at least that I am aware of.

Somehow its always taking me days to properly show here when i use godadddy(im based outside US). If i use US proxy, then it may display properly.. but im pretty sure it takes quite some time to propagate fully(outside US.. at least for me) than others..

If you purchase 6 or more of .info extensions, they will include privacy.. but not really keen on .info ..

On the serious domain sellers forums, there's a general dislike for GoDaddy. (with frequent discussions on just that) The 2nd worst thing I hate about GoDaddy is their in-your-face marketing (upsells followed by upsells) when you're trying to check out. Not as obnoxious as it was a few years ago, but still annoying.

But what I hate most is the fact that they sell their whois lookup logs.
(lots of rants about this in the domain sellers forums)

Okay, so a few years ago I did several dozen lookups using the Whois tool on Godaddy's site. (as a non-customer) The very next day, some guy in California had registered half of those domain names. Ugg! (btw the domain names were kinda unique, so I know it wasn't just a coincidence) Left the guy voicemails but he didn't call back. At first I thought maybe he knew someone who worked at my local ISP who was data sniffing. Would be easy to write a packet sniffing script to capture whois lookups then save to log file. But after getting on the domain sellers forums, I discovered that GoDaddy makes moolah from selling their whois lookup data. My whois lookup data was probably sold to some network or members site for domainers.

Man what a sellout. GoDaddy screwing random people who used their Whois tool, and screwing their own customers. Lesson learned: (1) I never use GoDaddy Whois, and (2) when I have a good idea for a domain name, I register it asap.

GoDaddy will rob you blind, they have been taking money off my CC for hosting which I do not need neither would never consider them for hosting, when I pointed this out to them they refunded my money instantly and said it won't happen again - next month they took money again. They do this hoping you wont notice.

I also use NameCheap. They are easy to use and give you WhoIs free for the first year. I had started with GoDaddy, but found them difficult to use when transferring domain names. They may not be the cheapest, but time is also money. Good luck.

I'm also looking to register some .com's with whois privacy, looks like i'm going to steer clear of godaddy though!

internet.bs seems like the cheapest option at the moment though, although I haven't heard of them before, namecheap seems like a very good option too though
