odesk vs onlinejobs.ph, which is best?

I have used both a little but, but still not sure which is best in what.

Is onlinejobs.ph a "cheap but low quality" solution?

odesk vs onlinejobs.ph, which is best, if you are looking for long term VAs full time or part time?

may be my comment out of the topic but I really love freelancer.com than anything other ,because it is very user friendly with a trusted feedback system you can choose freelancers on that base , I found it also the fastest in getting lot's of qualified bids on the first minute .

When I see that onlinejobs.ph has a monthly fee of almost $50 (if memory serves me), for that reason alone I would tend to lean towards the oDesk or Freelancer ect. options.

Maybe I am cheap, but I think you can find just as good employees from the freelance sites without having to pay a monthly fee. Besides that, those sites have a pretty decent feedback systems in place to see how they worked out for previous employers.

I think vworker.com is the best. I have done a lot of work there and given out a few jobs too.

These sites have both pro's and con's but
    getting the best employees doesn't
usually depend on where they come from.

It mostly depend on how you screen them.
From a simple "send me a reply with a YES on
the subject line" somewhere in the first interview
email you send out to other subtle test tactics.
(making them re-write articles 3 or 4 times to test their
    patience and determine creativity.)

Using subtle test tactics in my opinion is the best
way to get long term employees.

Not whether they came from this or that site.

      right on the money!

most people tend to think that BECAUSE they will use this service or that, they will get better results... Same goes for almost any tool. Its how you use a system for yourself.

I, personally, have used onlinejobs.ph to hire Filipinos and have been very satisfied with the results.

I agree with Mary W., in that the screening is more important than the site.

We also use odesk and like the ability it gives - especially if you wish to delegate the management of several outsourced workers to someone else. Odesk lets you create other logins and give them certain access with certain permissions.

online jobs are always better since they are cheap and both seller and buyer convinient.

Anyone done a true comparison (for the same sort of work / bid request) between oDesk and Vworker.com?

vWorkers has a page dedicated to it: Why outsource on vWorker instead of oDesk?

    But I'm sure it's biased.

I'd be curious to see if anyone has tried both services out for the same sort of project...

  • Between the two I choose Freelancer.com, it's more user-friendly, and it has a real feedback for sellers, so you can check the real value of your freelancer every time.
I got 4 orders completed perfectly.

I had experiences with Odesk, three to be exact. In two of them I got problems, and one was perfectly made.
I can tell you just a thing: always select freelancers with a good feedback, and get them from USA or Canada. Others, unless you pay them well, don't assure the quality you may need.
Then I got banned because I forgot to update credit card details, it seems strange!

This is my personal point of view based on experience.
    See you,

odesk vs onlinejobs.ph, which is best? I have used both.

I found odesk to be good for one time projects, finding workers and getting a project done quickly. Each project, Odesk gets a "cut" of the money.

Onlinejobs.ph works very differently. I was able to find some good workers for less expense then what I would have paid on Odesk -especially using them for long term. The cost can come out to be even less then Odesk if doing a lot of outsourcing.

You have to decide what tasks you need then weigh the pro and cons of each. I hope that helps.

Onlinejobs is a lot of work and frustration. It seems like there are lots of scammers on the site. They will tell you they can do something but when you hire them they produce nothing. Plus if you tell them they have'nt done a job properly they just disappear like smoke. I am not saying there are no good workers there, just that you have to hire and fire a few before you can find one that is any good unless you are really lucky.

I've had excellent results with oDesk. One thing I would recommend is that whichever Marketplace you sign up with, learn all the ins and outs - rules and regs to inform yourself to avoid any potential problems before they happen. I know it can be a pain to read through everything, but in the long run...this will safeguard you.

They are two different types of sites.

oDesk is a freelance site with buyer feedback, portfolios and tests. It also has project management functions like uploading files and worker monitoring software for hourly jobs.

OnlineJobs.ph is a resume site. People post their resumes, and self-assess their skills.

With a resume site there's no way to judge the skills of the worker, so you need to hire 5 - 10 of them to find a long term hire. Give them test projects, and hire on a probation basis to determine their skills and workability.

oDesk is good for short term, or out tasking type of jobs. You can filter by feedback, and English level. You may still want to hire 3 to do the task so you'll stand a good chance of getting the job done right first shot.

You'll pay more on oDesk initially, but you can negotiate for longer term full time rates when you find someone you want to keep.

    Hope that helps.

For me, I think Odesk is better than OnlineJobs.ph. You'll just have to choose employers with payments verified and those with more positive feedbacks. There are also more job opportunities in Odesk even for starters. The only disadvantage in working with Odesk is that their currency exchange conversion rate is really low.

I just got scammet out of $260 on oDesk. I hired Islam Robi from Dhaka, Bangladesh, aka Ahmend on Skype. He offered to to telemarketing for me. He made no calls, but kept a call list on his desktop so that the screenshots show him "working". He was supposed to send emails to leads after talking to them. After he did not deliver xl sheets or sent emails, I complained. He then sent emails to random email adresses, most were returned as undeliverable. Ahmed refused to communicated with me on oDesk, only on Skype, despite my many requests, which I now understand why: oDesk gets no evidence of his fraud.

Odesk is consdering my dispute, but they only consider screenshots, which indicate that he is "working". At the same time, Ahmed is online on Skype with me right now offering me a bribe to change his rating to 5 stars. Well I am tempted but I dont trust that he will actually return the money, and I will be stuck with a good review of a scam artist.

So, stay away from oDesk contractor Islam Robi.

I would prefer Odesk. But yes always be cautious in hiring people and make sure you report any complaints to Odesk support.
