What to choose: Xsitepro or Rapid Niche Sites?

If you were starting from scratch and you wanted the most useful site building software. Would you buy Xsitepro or Rapid Niche websites software? What I see as an advantage of Rapid Niche Websites is that it uses the Wordpress blog platform as the basis for the site... it can make into a static looking site .

Wordpress is now so popular as the platform of choice for building niche sites while Xsitepro builds traditional static sites.

Both options cost $197, are there any other approaches you would take?
#choose #niche #rapid #sites #xsitepro
  • I´ve never heard of Rapid Niche Sites. But I use XSitePro and are quite satisfied with it. I also don´t make blogs. So I would go for XSitePro.

That's a great response Thank you, (thanks also steve and affiliated s.). I was thinking about these issues as well.

You say that Xsitepro is good for a small business site and WP for niche blogs. If you wanted to build a niche site which software would you choose to build it xsitepro or WP?

For SEO optimization we are always told WP but I feel the format of a blog is not a good one for a niche site, where you need a traditional navigation structure and not a blog type one.

WP can be hacked to look like a static site and not a blog but this is too much hassle to do every time you want to build a niche site. Hence I was looking at software like Rapid Niche Websites(or semilogic) which adapts WP.

It is possible to run WP and Rapid niche websites(or semi-logic together) together to create niche sites, which is what I want to do. What extra or different would xsitepro offer?

      all the best

My main IMS blog is semiologic and it is very powerful for SEO. Lots of people ask what theme it is because it is quite clean. I guess Semiologic may come back into fashion.

        My other favorite is Thesis.

Hahah - my evil plan is working - lol

        Steve nailed it for you!

I might add that I mostly use designer templates for sales pages but there are templates built in if you like.

Many designers can make you a custom xsitepro skin to import or as a whole template.

XSP is effective for sales pages because it has:

WYSWYG for the words and formatting.

It has an XML feed for RSS sydnication

Once loaded you can leave it.

The form builder is built-in as is a VIDEO and Audio embed module.

(I use it for membership sites on the other side of DLguard etc...)

All you have to do is type the page, the navigation menus auto create and you are prompted to add keywords and a description which are auto inserted into the page into the meta data.

The pages load fast because the site automatically creates an external CSS file.

There is a sitemap and privacy pages built in as well.

If you need to add anything custom there is a source tab for sitewide scripts or per page.

Also you can publish anytime with one click once you pre-fill the FTP login the first time.

There are a bunch of scripts like countdown timers and loads of graphical buttons built in too.

        Regards

        James

They are both fine for SEO I have number one listings with all types of sites.

    (Even custom page gen sites).

For a tight themed niche pre-sell site I would pick xsitepro

For a niche content site - WP

Semiologic is wordpress with a booster kit so you only need one app.

Xsitepro is a little faster to build with and once setup requires zero maintaining.

WP blogs need updating and a little bit of work at the start - especially to set up static sites.

That's gr8 James, but what about WSIWYG(What You See Is What You Get) editor such as NVU?
      it's free!
      To:madison_avenue

I am using "90 second website builder" for sales page websites and its working nice although its an html generator and i am no good when it comes to html, so i can't vouch for its capabilities as far as SEO is concerned.

When it comes to Niche Content based websites Go for Wordpress, it take a little to get used to but it rocks!

Because free can often be expensive. It takes longer to create a website with a free WYSIWYG unless you are very experienced.

I i read "most useful site building software" as being a need or software that is more than just an editor.

All the paid options Madison is considering have powerful features and save time.

Free HTML/WYSIWYG editors generally do not have built-in keyword tags, descriptions, plugins, sitemaps, external CSS file etc....

I do love wordpress though for free!

I agree with that 100% but i wanted to mention the free options because of "starting out from scratch factor" since 197$ can be big investment for some one who is just starting out plus there is a definite learning curve in every application whether web or pc based.
However it depends totally on the choice of website one wants to build
if it's a static site then all these applications are worth a try but if someone wants a site with dynamic content then i would definitely go for a CMS(Content Management System)
and there are a ton of them
1 wordpress( my personal favorite!) comes with cpanel hosting easiest to install and manage
2 joomla- open source- free!-good for running membership sites(you can manage your user levels, integrate your payment systems and a ton other features)
b2evolution,nucleus and the list goes on!

          Hope this helps

Thanks for the post loganwolf.. I appreciate the tips. As you say as a CMS wordpress looks like the way to go. For static sites at $197 xsitepro is a fair whack that's why I want to make sure it is cost effective before I buy it.

I do this because as a PPC marketer I find that these Silo sites are best for Quality Score. Setting these up are easier than you think however any program takes time to learn.

I owned xsitepro 1 a few years back I just did not like it, I hear it is much better now though. I have also done things with Joomla, however I keep coming back to Semiologic and Wordpress for my niche sites and my own site.

I know that finances can be tough in the beginning I was fortunate to be able to buy many things to test them all. I even for a time went the Front Page route.

Me personally I do not want to use or buy website programs sold my IM's after all I have been through.

Now as far as SEO, I am also an application developer licensee for Revolution. whenever I moved my semio theme to revolution I lost my number one listing for certain keywords.

When I went back to Semio I regained it within 48 hours and this is a keyword that is searched alot and has a fair amount of competition.

Again you are going to have to go through learning curves yourself and I know this is tough when starting out, but you are on the right track asking many questions.

Semio is $295 and then $175 a year renewal so for budget conscious it may not be the way to go.
Thanks for the input steve. I've also gone down the FrontPage route.. never again!

Interesting comments about Silo sites and SEO. Semilogic seems to be to some extent unfashionable(possibly unfairly). For IM's it's all about xsitepro, so it's good to hear the case. I can put up with a high learning curve if it gives me the result I want.

This thread has certainly given me something to think about!

              all the best.

WP is very fast, however it is worth spending a few hours to tune up to get the best customization results.

Things like permalinks, themes and individual plugins need a little tuning

Xsitepro is really easy to use! I knew nothing about building sites or html code when I first started. I still don't! But i've got multiple sites up all over the place. Xsitepro actually walks you through building an actual website for a tutorial. If your going to get it, I would get it through Jame's link. His cheat sheet that comes as a bonus is worth it.

      Very easy.

Especially if you have already made just one and you want another one - you can use your own sites as user created templates.

They do have templates for sales pages.

    Hi James,

I own your Cheat Sheet and XSPv1. I've been out of IM for a year or so but am back, this time to stay.

I really liked XSP and it looks like v2 is the bomb. I'm going to buy it through your link sometime this week, as I agree with you that it is great for sales letter and landing page sites - super quick to throw one of those up. Just two questions:

    1) XSP is selling it for $197 now... you say 30% off $297 = $197. Any chance it's 30% off the $197 now? Or is your price still $197? (Which is still a good deal since you get the cheat sheet free...)

    2) Does XSP have any sort of blog/Wordpress integration? One of my first projects is I need to revamp a site that I would like to have both a blog on the main page, as well as some tabs with resources (FAQ, articles, training, etc...). I'm just trying to figure out if I'm better off just modding a Wordpress theme for this particular project.

    Thanks in advance!

      Hi Rich,

      1) If you already have version one you may be able upgrade to version 2 for $127. There is an upgrade button next to the normal purchase.

The upgrades do not have an affiliate sale.

Good news though - I upgraded all XSP Cheat Sheet clients to version 2 for Free so flick me an email and I will give you access to the new membership site.

      2) There is a wordpress + xsitepro product on the market and I am pretty sure we will see xsitepro give us an easy integration wizrad because it is mainly a matter of porting the CSS across to the blog.

      Good luck!

I PMed you my email address, thanks! I look forward to checkout all that XSP2 and Cheat Sheet V2 have to offer.

btw, are you familiar with the RJ Sneaky System / InfoProductKiller? Sneaky System shows their examples with Wordpress but I'm hoping I can do the same thing in XSP2 instead. I posted a thread on the main board about this too...

Spark, and others, I just want you all to know that I just downloaded the stuff from James' XSP2 Cheat Sheet, and I am blown away. It is so much more than a "Cheat Sheet" - he has REALLY overdelivered on this one. There is so much valuable content and goodies in this package, it's unbelievable. I'm going to spend the rest of the day just going through it. I mean, there were like 20 different things to download.

I think XSitePro rocks, and if you buy it, you would be a fool to not get it through James' link and get his Cheat Sheet package also.

    Enjoy!

It is a one time only payment for version 2. If they did a version 3 it would have an upgrade fee.

You can make as many sites as you desire.

I thought I had it all nailed down but I read too much and now I have to make another decision.

I was ready to go with XSite Pro rather than Dreamweaver But then I came across Semiologic which I know is more expensive but it is made to work with WP.

In addition to making squeeze, landing & sales pages I'd like to have the option of creating membership sites. I know that WP will allow me to do all that. (In addition, there is Joomla to consider for member sites.)

Just trying to keep costs & learning curves down by going with one good piece of software. Can you guys give me an honest opinion about XSite Pro vs Semiologic?

    Appreciate it.

I use both. My main Internet Marketing Blog is Semiologic and it is wonderful software. It is actually wordpress but with special plugins.

I use XSitepro for membership sites. I make one site for the sales letter then I copy the template for the password protected area.

They are both great - you can't go wrong.

If you love wordpress and you want the dynamic stuff and you can update it go with Sempro.

If you want easy and low maintaining with more static content then xsp.

        Hi James,

What do you suggest for those exclusively into Affiliate Marketing? Is XSite Pro2 good for them or can they just do fine with Kompozer, Trellian etc.? I am slightly inclined towards XSP but its cost is holding me back.

I also read somewhere that XSP is good for creating static pages. As someone who is still learning the ropes, does affiliate marketing entail creating dynamic pages too (in which case XSP may not be the best choice?).

I make a decent income from affiliate marketing using completely different business models and tools.

    1) custom pre-sell page and iFrame app for single landers (great for paid traffic)
    2) xsitepro for static affiliate bonus sites with plenty of pages for SEO
    3) Blogs for high profile blogging / list building
    4) Blogs for underground networks of auto-gen affiliate sites

You can do all of this with wordpress. I use lighter applications for smaller sites that I am unlikely to visit often.

Thanks James. If it helps you advise me better, I am very new to Kompozer etc too with no knowledge of HTML and coding.

If I read you correctly, XSP would be great for affiliate marketing if I am using SEO to promote my sites. This is what I am planning to do before moving to paid traffic.

Xsitepro and Wordpress are both fine for seo sites.

Xsitepro is an easier to use fully featured desktop editor than Kompozer.

I would say it is the easiest to use. It can also deal with video, forms, re-directs and SEO settings (including a MOBI site generator). It is a good solution for building pre-sell / landing page SEO sites.

It sounds as though James' manual is almost a must have to get up to speed quickly with XSP2. I've heard a lot of good things around the Net about it.

When I first bought XSP2 I thought it wasn't real intuitive when I first started it up, but I guess many programs may throw you at first. Having said that though, after I went through their included tutorial, I felt really comfortable with it, at least for doing most of what I needed. I'm still learning though

It really is a very capable application and I love it.

If you know how to use those programs you have more skills than most Internet Marketers!
          I had them but floundered.

          XSitePro is an enabler.

Expensive is relative. $197 one time for full featured software is cheap if you can build unlimited websites.

That sort of investment does not get you far buying websites to be done for you etc....

That's true, especially for software that works so well.

You can edit code with XSP sites if you choose - My guess is many people don't need to or want to

      Good morning

I thought I'd put my 2c's worth in and then got a bit confused after reading all the posts. Robert's original question was Xsite pro or Rapid Niche Websites.

Ok - I have both - bought both at product launch and been with them till now.

They are both good products - xsite pro is easier to learn - rapid niche websites is more flexible once you have the hang of it. It took me a while to get to grips with the software though.

More importantly - what do you want to do with the software. XSP builds static html sites with ease and offers easy editing and posting options.

RNW is a wordpress management software and simply builds on wordpress flexibility.

I don't use XSP anymore because I have decided to use Wordpress exclusively - with all it's database and occasional security issues.

So that's the first decision to make.

As to Semilogic - I don't have it so can't comment on it's value - but I would think that it is in competition with RN rather than XSP as it's a wordpress application. My understanding though is that semilogic is more a wordpress manager and I would put RNW as more a wordpress builder

      Cheers

Wordpress all the way - there are millions of plug-ins (that work) - lots of free themes and lots of professional ones. If you are thinking of making a static web site, then eventually you will want features that require custom programming (Shopping Cart, Forms, animated slideshow, photo gallery, videos, Blog, SEO, Commenting, Ratings) - these days if you want a decent website and you want to maintain visitors then you had best make it interactive - that is what the market expects.

If you start with WP then all of these is possible with a few clicks. There is no use re-inventing the wheel. Whatever you can think of there is a high chance that someone has already made a free wordpress plugin to achieve that.

Take it from me, be a marketer, not a programmer.

Great Thread. I am also getting ready to purchase Xsitepro2 but I have been worried about a big (1000 page) manual which I just know I won't do well with. So someone told me that Xsitepro is now offering a 26 module video couse for $197. I also found a video course by Jim Montgomery (XsitePro2 Made Easy) which consists of 70 videos that you can access in his membership site for $19. a month and cancel anytime.

My question is whether anyone here has had any experience with either and which you recommend?

I hope I am still within the spirit of this thread since it is still in reference to XSP2.

Thank you everyone. This thread has helped me finalize my decision to go with XSP2 instead of 2 other solutions that I was considering.

I'd definitely would NOT go with the $197 option, the same material (and more) is available at XSitePro Club for $30 per month (cancel any time). Tons of themes and graphics to download and everything you can think of for training videos.

Does Xsite Pro two come with Xheader 1500 free head graphics?

And do you personally know when the Xsite Pro will up-grade to including a WordPress platform as well? And about how much extra is that going to be?

And last I bought the Xsitepro about 4 years ago and it was continually up-grading and the continual learning curve and was to time consuming and kind of made me loose interest in the software. The new one is touted as built from the groud up? Is it that easy?

Xheader is free to the public.

XSP is likely to get a wordpress wizard. Not sure when.

Everyone here seems so advanced and I know nothing about building a website. I have read through FrontPage last year and found it difficult and gave up. I bought something on yahoo that is empty since a year and costs me $30 a month because I don't know how to get anything on it.

I found this website when I saw that cheap commercial from a Paul the millioinaire making billions a day on the net which we know is a scam.

My question to you, is it possibel with your mentioned softwares to build some sites to make some extra income? Will I understand them? I know we don't have to talk about millions a day but anything? I have illustrator and undestand it, so I am not totally illiterate. I also have dreamweaver, it came as a package but did not look at it yet because I am still so discouraged.

Yes you will find software talked about here easier to use. Now it is a matter of knowing what your strategy is and how you want to use the sites.

XSitePro makes it extremely easy to collect and use affiliate links and redirect links. I was doing this before with Dreamweaver and an excel spreadsheet - horrible. It's super easy with XSP.

XSP is cheap compared to Dreamweaver and time saved.

James, can you recommend any XSP template designers? It's easy to find Dreamweaver designers, but I'd like to find someone familiar with XSP to design some simple templates for me.

I have dealt with several and many of them hang out in the XSP forum.

Several of them are warriors too.

You can put affiliate links from anywhere using the standard links.

The Wizard will let you build ad block for things like Amazon.

The RSS feed will let you pull in datafeeds for all sorts of other sites

          It is very versatile

    Hello everyone...

This is a damn good thread, especially for newbies like me, thanks to all who have contributed.

I would like to add one thing if I may and it is a bit of a sales pitch but still quite informative.

I'm having a membership site designed (should launch July 1) based on the Wordpress platform. Now please understand I'm a complete newbie to WP (but not IM) and I like the overall ease (by comparison) of WP to most other applications. However, I don't have the tech skills required to code, don't like messing with FTP and think Cpannels (or any other host panels) are a waste of time that could be avoided. I like the principle of using WP to create niche blog or static sites for affiliate marketing, Adsense etc and wanted to get several (read that as a few hundred) WP sites up and running fairly quickly as a set and forget kind of thing (through auto content and the use of Plugins..etc) but the problem I ran into was all of the convoluted BS that goes into it...mentioned above that I don't like messing with. Now I know that's all part of the game but I started doing some research and found there are several others like myself...many of you included, who are very interested in this type of marketing but lack the tech skills or time to do it.

That led me to find a site designer who is now developing a membership site for me which will be WP based that essentially allows a complete newb to it (such as myself) to log in and have a custom WP blog/static site up and running in a matter of just a few minutes just like XsitePro but easier to use with more options and quicker (complete with SEO, Affiliate links, Amazon widgets, Auto content...and lots of other choices/possibilities). There will be several bonus items for subscribers, training videos (which will hardly be needed because it truly is really darn simple) and lots of other goodies. I can't go into all of the details right now and I know none of you know me from Adam but trust me....it will be extremely easy and fast with several different additional functions and options. One of the best features is that it will offer the user an option to classify a created site as a "master template" which can be saved for them to use later. Master templates can either be used to create individual sites with the exact same set up or groups of sites (up to 10) at once simply by inputting domain names into a fill in the blank field. Users will basically choose "Build New Site" and an option will be "Multiple Sites" then a new field will open up for them to input the domain names and another place for them to choose from their saved master templates and once those two choices are made...presto, multiple sites with the same configuration are built in a matter minutes and loaded to their host company. Those sites will of course be accessible and editable from within their member page.

Im looking into some additional features such as keyword search (sort of like Micro Niche Finder) but taking it a step further to where unique articles are written for the user based off of selected keywords. The articles will probably have affiliate links automatically put into them (that the user supplies on a list in their private members area for each affiliate offer they are promoting). Once an article is created the user would then of course have the option to review and make any desired changes to it before the site would submit the articles to sites like Ezine, go articles...etc (chosen by the user by selecting them form a list). This function isn't fully developed yet but it's in the works

As I said in the beginning I'm a complete newb to WP myself so initially this entire idea was going to be for my personal use and only desktop based then I thought why not make it a membership site. Sure I will make some money on it (least that's part of the plan) but at the same time and just as important, I hope it helps make things easier and more profitable for my fellow IMer's.

Sorry this was so long but I get excited when I think about the sites overall possibilities and the things it will be able to do. I welcome any suggestions or feedback from the masses on features you think would be good to ad and/or just general opinions (especially those of you who are quite familiar with WP or have experienced problems with using it). I've taken some notes already and think this thread is awesome for all...especially WP newbs like me!

Thanks all and good luck in all your endeavors!
    Robert S.

        Did you mean XSP site?

If you're an XSitePro user, you might know Patrick Forbes (from their forum). He uses XSitePro extensively, and uses Rapid Action Profits to sell XSitePro Templates at Xsitepro 2 Template - XsitePro Website Templates

    Gail...
I downloaded a PDF with the program that has the basic info....I have been busy lately and have not really gotten into Xsite very deeply.....
I have gotten all the emails about the training modules and frankly I resent that....
Back in the 90s when I started with Frontpage help was readily available and still is....

I have many other products for a bunch of "stuff" and help is always a click away.......
Personally, I think it is "chicken poop" to sell a so called great software and then charge to teach someone how to use it.....
I will figure it out, as I have for the past 10 years , or eat it.
    (Just my Opinion)......

I've read up on all these posts and being good with cpanel+WP I am wondering if there is a benefit? I'm still pretty new but for building small static sites, I do know I can use WP and if there is a big learning curve with XSP I am not sure I feel like diving into another learning curve when I still have not brought in major sales with the skils I Currently have...

So if you have cpanel/wp/ftp/html experience (at least a little...) is it fairly simple work with XSP?

XSP does have a lot of features that seem very handy....I think you could produce multiple sites quickly once you gtr the "hang" of it.....
    Just an opinion.....

Jim, I agree with you. I was upset about having to pay twice ... However; I'm a little desperate right now. I have everything ready to go and no website :-( They have certainly done their homework. I'm sure they know that there are plenty of people like me. Thank you for verbalizing what I was already feeling though. I just wish I could talk with someone that has had experience with one or the other.

I've used XSP, FrontPage, DreamWeaver, and WordPress.

XSP is much easier than FrontPage. It is very simple to use for static sites. I found the learning curve very easy. The manual is long because it tells you step-by-step how to do things. Much easier to read than Microsoft or Adobe documentation.

DreamWeaver - don't even think about it for a simple implementation. Horrendous learning curve, like PhotoShop. But you can create some great-looking sites with it. It also does not guide you on SEO the way that XSP does.

WordPress - Great looking sites, plus tons of plug ins. But it takes some time to install and configure them and keep the software updated. For example, if you want to change the standard footer, you have to deal with html code. And backups are a pain. If you want to create several simple sites, the WP install and configuration can take time. XSP is simpler if you want to carbon copy the site appearance and just insert new text into another site.

    XSP:
    - James is awesome and his cheat sheet is a must. I'm not an affiliate, just a happy customer.
    - My only complaint about XSP is that the selection of really great looking templates is smaller than with WordPress or Dreamweaver. Some of the XSP templates look like somewhat dated mini sites. There are not many graphic designers who design for XSP. I would love to see more up to date clean templates. I believe James has an add on pack of templates, but I still would like to see a template pack that's as good as the best WordPress or DreamWeaver themes.

I'm also a great X-Site Pro fan - only thing now I feel "cheated" because I did'nt get James Cheat Sheet!

All I can say I was totally technofobic and it cannot get any easier with XSP - it is an absolute breeeze to use and extremely user friendly! You can also get XHeader (free version) and paid one with plenty of templates to use in a variety of niches. I usually combine two of them to make an unique header graphic.
