Hey there

I was listening to mixergy.com last night -- the guy interviewing Yanik Silver.
I then checked out Yaniks page and saw he has this new video at the top:

Instant Sales Letters

and I also see ryan deiss using it:

http://digitalmarketer.com/

It involves a hand drawing images. I like that a lot.

Where can I get it?

Those are referred to as "whiteboard" videos.

You need to hire people to do those as there is currently no software that makes those via 'push button'.

You'll need a hefty budget, as well.

      Hefty budget?

I can hire a graphic designer or other artistic type to do it for like $14/hr. I'm thinking $300 max.

If they was mixing hand writer with normal video presentation maybe was better.

There is nothing to learn here. It's just fake gurus using shoddy quality scribe videos in an attempt to regain some wow factor.

These types of clips are essentially video art. You've got to be impressive or you end up being like the office with motel quality artwork hanging on the wall. The Yanik and Deiss presentations are uninspiring low end work. Someone needs to tell these guys that simple is fine, but it must be flawless.

Either spend the $500 to $2,000 to do this right, or don't do it at all.

There is currently no software that can automate this task for you. You'll need to hire somebody to create it for you. I think a 3 minute presentation should cost you about $400-$500 if you purchase from a freelancer and about $1,500 if you purchase from a corporation.

If you'd really like to give users a professional sense, you'd better off create an animated marketing video. They cost about 4x more but impact customers in a much larger amount. I can't afford it for all my products but I ordered one for my largest service I currently offer and it boosted my conversation rate drastically.

Whatever it is I'm sure it's not cheap.

There is no software to create these.

Most of the "gurus" are using AdToons.com. They call them "Video Sales Letters" and it costs roughly $1,900 for the first minute, on down to about $1,400 a minute for a 20+ minute video like Truth About Abs uses.

Most people are seeing huge jumps in conversions with these. Mike Geary said it more than doubled his conversion rate for Truth About Abs vs. his previous control.

There's got to be some kind of course you can take to learn how to do this. Looks cool and I'd like to learn how as well.

In any case, it will be expensive and you need to make a commitment to it, I'd say. Does not look easy to do, and that's why people pay a lot to have it done for them.

Regarding the original post, there is a very good reason you see these from very top marketers like Ryan Deiss and Yanik Silver: they both test things thoroughly and these CONVERT.

Inside scoop among some of the "big" marketers is that these are often really converting higher than other video sales letters in certain markets, and it looks like we may soon see a trend on this as several are talking about doing this or have concepts in the works.

It is costly and not cheap for sure, but food for thought.

I guess the question everyone would ask, that no one has answered, is why does this work.

Whether or not many people "like" the drawing really isn't the question. The answer is that it has nothing to do with it looking good or fun, etc (usually).

It is because the act of someone drawing, statistically draws much more attention to the video than other methods. It captures more attention, and in the end more attention always results in higher conversions with a well designed sales message.

Like anything else these videos can be done wrong. I watched one recently where the visuals we superfluous and killed the whole effect.

The technique is a good one, but what makes it great is the artist and other talent who put the video together.

I can hardly imagine a worse feeling than to drop a bundle getting one of those videos made just to see your conversions tank.

It's called Video Scribe. It's $20 a month for the software. I have a full review here:
        www.KurtMelvin.com/1

Here's a video I made using the software for Facebook:

One thing about Video Scribe is it writes in ALL CAPS. This makes it a little tough when including URLs in the videos themselves. The actual domain name isn't case sensitive. But the URL after the domain name is. If you notice in my video, I used a number after the domain so there wouldn't be a a problem with the case just "in case" someone was to type in the URL. You gotta make it easy for people.

In your review on your blog there is a statement I would like you to explain in more detail, please. I want to make sure I don't get into any trouble out of my ignorance. The statement is:

              Hi Mike,

I didn't write that too well...What I meant to say was using the auto text to video programs that simply take a text article and convert it to a "video" is much more likely to get other Youtube members to flag your videos than if you spend a little time to make them look better.

Two videos can say the exact same thing, but if one looks better, it's more likely not to be seen as spam, IMO.

It's new in the scene and will work for that new found interest, but still the persuasive script and the offer is what is going to win the conversions... once again I hear people spouting nonsense about the conversion rates of these videos. This is why I TEST everything rather than listening to what others "think" work. Sure they may well work for a particular product/promotion, but this also depends on the type of traffic. A really professional 1 -2 minute video will cost "around" 8k and they do NOT always covert better than a simple sales/squeeze page... that's a fact. Personally I think they look over hyped and gets me off the page quicker than I got on.

One of the companies I do promotions for created one of these videos (cost = 10k) and conversions across the board within our community dropped. The best converting squeeze pages are the simple ones IMO, but once again, that's an opinion. Always test what the gurus claim to be true because in a lot of cases it simply aint so.

Okay guys, here's HOW TO DO these videos yourself from scratch (I did one and it worked great). I could have paid but wanted to learn how it was done.

    Are you ready? :-)

    1. Goto your favorite stock images site and find black and white line drawings that represent what you want to draw

    2. Download the images and print them off in a size that fits to the size of your drawing tablet (I use a Bamboo tablet, pretty cheap)

    3. Lightly stick the image onto the tablet drawing area

    4. Now open up Camtasia or some other screen cap software, start recording and go into "pen mode"

    5. Now just trace over the line drawing on your tablet

    6. Now repeat this process for each image, edit all the bits together and hey presto, you're done

This was mine: "How I Turned a Breakfast into $251,143..." (Warning this is an affiliate PROMO, I'm not posting it here so you buy - please dont - I'm posting it here so you can see the doodle drawing technique in action.

That's an interesting idea. My daughter has a Wacom board for art projects. Hadn't thought of using it in video. Not sure how the Bamboo works, but using the pen is an easy way to draw on the screen. Just record what you are drawing.

  • I have put together a free - complete tutorial - on how and what to do this with Fast, Easy, and Free. I have provided everything you need. Enjoy! These take about 3-10 min total from start to finish.

I could actually do them faster but I like being able to manipulate my raw footage out of vidoescribe so I use the software to render my footage without sound first.

In the live example training, I use Camtasia 8 (less intimidating than sony vegas pro or a full video editor) and show you how to to add the sound tracks, a voice over & music, and any other calls to action you may want to add. It's also easy to change the 'mood' of the piece quickly by just changing the music...

There is nothing you have to to buy to actually make a scribe video fast and get started - there is a free 7 day trial (limited goodies) for the software to do this with. This is not my software. It's a tool I have discovered and am using to generate income for myself. See samples below.

You may sign up for a copy of all the free resources I use too, but I have added the direct link to my training video (on youtube) at the bottom of this post (but you will not have the other free resources).

evideoscribe.com - Full Training - Free, Resources Included or just the training video link is posted below at the bottom of this post.

Not as effective as a truly custom one, but still... not bad for the price.
