Directory of Ezines - Your Feedback On It

I've read people recently disenfranchised with it saying the info is dated. Some people love it, can you be kind enough to give your feedback on it 2012?

Thanks!!!

Just take a look at this:

Looks like they are heading down and no change of trend in sight...

I'm sure they're in the middle of updating it. At least I remember them mentioning they are in the process of revamping the site.

That chart up there doesn't matter because that is about ezinearticles.com. The question is about Directory of Ezines, something completely different.

I think there is some confusion with the OP question.

            Forgive my lack of clarity.

There is a program called The Directory of Ezines for $197 and it's a directory of ezines for different niches. I was wondering how good the links were and how accurate the information is/was. I've heard varying perspectives on it: some say they swear by it, and other say the info is dated and not accurate.

I was just wondering how good the info is right now in January 2012.

            Another huge THANKS in advance!

They are in the process of updating the site and have been for a couple of months don't know when they will be finished.

Depends on your niche. It has many ezines that are current in the IM and health niches. You have to browse around a little. I've sent proposals only to get no response.

I've been told they are radically updating the directory. I look forward to that because it needs updating.

This year (2012) I intend to use it more than last year. It seems to me if you find a few ezines that fit with your business, it's well worth the money. However, it takes time to find the right ones because it's a huge directory.

My complaint is that the descriptions of some of the ezines are vague. It's hard to tell without further inquiry to each ezine whether they're a good fit for you. After all, you don't want to pay for ads that go to the wrong people. I've paid for solo ads that simply didn't work, but then some worked tremendously well. The key is making some inquiries such as how did subscribers sign up? Some ezines provide a link to the opt in page so you can see the offer and whether it attracts subscribers similar to your readers.

It's a one-time payment for a lifetime membership - so even if you don't use it for a little while all that much, it's an asset to use in the future ... perhaps after the updating. It's possible the price will go up after it's been updated.

    Stats could be totally off...

An advertising agency contacted one of our sites yesterday - they mentioned Compete says we get 12,000 uniques/month...

We get 140,000+ in Analytics. After some investigating we noticed that one of our partner sites has 0/month on Compete - they have been around longer than us and have comparable Alexa ranking.

Wouldn't even bother with Compete's stats. From my understanding they get their data wherever they can find it...that seems like a waste of time in my opinion. Like those, "how much is my website worth?" sites.

I purchased that DOE about 18 months ago. I've used it somewhat, but unless you have time to properly research the ezines, then make sure you are sending out a great ad, and capturing email addresses as well, then it is a lot of work for the money you will spend. Its not that I don't like the resource. It is just that it will take quite a bit more effort to benefit from it, than you may think it does.

Adding to what I said in my last post. You can find tons of mailing lists in all markets and niches over at Mailing List Finder.

    There's no upfront fee either.

    Hope this helps bud

Does anyone know whats new with the DOE 2.0 version? I have been contemplating using this marketing method for awhile. If anyone could share a detailed review, it would be much appreciated.
