Please suggest VPS Hosting ?

Few month ago I had the same problem. I was looking for good and cheap vps hosting.
Now I use knownhost.com and jaguarpc.com and never had any problems with them. You will stay below $49 with both of them. Hard to say which one is better.

I also have shared hosting on downtownhost.com and they are the best for me (the best support and service quality). However never used vps with them.

I will been with many hosts and I have to say so far the best is knownhost.com or liquidweb.com. Liquidweb is a bit more but very fast service.
knownhost is always running specials.

I found out about them from a friend that was upgraded twice for free. Both times he received a more powerful server and more disk space.

I contacted LiquidWeb about the WiredTree upgrades to see if they would make an attempt to retain a 3-year old customer (me) and they said "sorry". So I left my $40 plan at LiquidWeb and opted for the $49 plan at WiredTree. WiredTree managed the full migration in one night. I cancelled my LiquidWeb account 1 week later.

No regrets here, either.

I've had a vps from them for about 3 months now and not a problem.

I have had vps with various companies including liquidweb and servint and the one I got with Hostthename has been just as good and at less then a quarter of the price with this wso.

X2 for WiredTree. Remember, when it comes to price, in most cases you get what you pay for. Unless you have server management experience, you will need a managed server. 50 bucks for a managed server from a reputable provider like WiredTree is very good. I highly recommend them.

+1 for LiquidWeb.

We have several high-traffic sites hosted with them, and their support is phenomenal. A couple of times, due to some technical issues, we ended up on a call with them for several hours (one time, for more than 8 hours combined). They never complained, never whined, and saw the issue to completion between 2 different shifts.

Hard to get that kind of support these days.

We recommend them to all of our clients and users, and they do cpanel-to-cpanel migration for free.

Never used WiredTree (will check it out the next time we need hosting for a new project - cuz never a good idea to put all your BIG eggs in one basket :-) ), but based on my personal experience, I wholeheartedly recommend LiquidWeb.

The question is how much traffic are you getting on your site(s) and the next question is what sort of site are you running. Furthermore, what package are you on with Hostgator.

I'm with Linode running 512MB RAM XEN with CPANEL with over 50 domains and they rock! Half of them with Wordpress (mysql-php).
However, they are not cheap. Go for quality over quantity when it comes to hosting vps/dedicated.

Unless you are really pounding the server with tons of traffic this sounds like a bad plugin. Before you go adding capitol costs to your business model I would check there first. Most WP plugins, especially in the IM arena are crap, written in the 3rd world and not efficient or secure.

Has anyone used megafastservers.com? I just checked it out and as always.. sales presentation great... seems to be a superior software but I won't go there until I hear some reviews... the only thread I see in here with them mentioned is the owner of the company pitching it in here... Would appreciate some 3rd party sources if at all possible.

I currently have been using blackboxRDP and after 5 months I am not satisfied. Uptime is good, never really crashes.. had it do that once.. But support has gone downhill... they used to have live chats and support.. now they take much longer to reply to tickets and the live chat is apparently not existent anymore.

But megafastservers uses this VMware View PCoIP Technology and I have never checked into.. before I go into a lot of research can someone tell me their experience with this type of connection?

What specifications are you looking for as far as a VPS?

Look into photonvps. Their linux servers start at $5.95 per month. You can add cPanel but I personally recommend using a free control panel like Webmin/ZPanel to set up the website. If you are not short on cash, go with cPanel addon for your server.

I prefer Beyond Hosting.net personally. Reason being is the people running the company are marketers themselves and understand marketing, not like other hosting companies who just know hosting.

Might make sense to research for hosts with Magento expertise. Either that or choose AWS, Azure or another cloud platform with a huge array of services to make your site run great.
