Need New Dedicated Hosting

I've been with Hostgator for quite awhile, first with their baby, then a VPS and now a dedicated server.

I have 14 sites (real estate) and they are getting more traffic than ever since finally making it top the top or close for many search phrases. The problem is that I'm always having site issues. Database, outages, etc. and the support at Hostgator all have differing opinions about what will fix it.

Another is that I had dedicated IP's on all my sites in the VPS account. Now they want me to buy SSL"s for each one to supply me with more than the 5 IP's that come with the dedicated account.

Frankly, with me spending well over $200 a month for this(which amounts to well over $2,600 a year), I feel they should be giving me excellent service and have virtually no outages.

What do you think?

Who else is GREAT? I NEED GREAT!!

Thanks for reading my rant.

Pat from smartpassiveincomes recommends Servint for dedicated hosting.
This is a quote from him

"This is where The Smart Passive Income Blog is now hosted, since it outgrew bluehost. I have a dedicated server package which can better handle the amount of traffic and activity on my blog. Great customer service, and they walked me through the entire migration process."

He gets A LOT of traffic and it seems to work well for him.

    Hope this helps.

Your best bet is to go over to webhostingtalk.com and read reviews & recommendations.

    Softlayer
    Inmotion
    Burstnet

Are my recommendations. And Softlayer would be my first choice of those 3.

What kind of server spec do you currently have with Hostgator?

With regards your IP issue, you are very likely to come across this with any provider you go with. With IPV4 space all now pretty much used up, you can only be assigned a new IP block with valid justification, ie - your site will cease to function unless it's on a dedicated IP address, which is why HG are saying you'll need to purchase an SSL cert to be able to get a dedicated IP. (SSL certs can only be installed on dedicated IP's)

They have had to fall in line with the rest of the industry on this since the SoftLayer/ThePlanet merger went through, and SoftLayer advised them that they were unable to provide them with any new IP blocks. So they are now having to make sure the IP's they have are correctly utilized, whilst also having to shell out millions to purchase additional blocks from other carriers.
