I'm currently using YourMember and I've installed it on other Warrior's blogs after researching a ton a few months ago. Feel free to shoot me an email if you need help or have questions. I found this to be the best for most programs.

It allows unlimited levels of membership, free trials, free members, pay-per-post and best of all, they just released an API that can be used to automatically add members to GetResponse and Aweber. Since this API is recent, there isn't any code yet for this specific purpose but it will surface soon enough I'm sure. Finally, you can hide member content with [private][/private] tags which lets you pre-sell, tease and get SEO juice at the same time.

YM also has an extra $15 plugin called YourMinder that will prevent username/password sharing. That was the clincher for me.

My full review is here: http://www.jesusp.com/47/yourmember-...bership-plugin

UPDATE: I've moved away from YourMember. See link above for details.

Wishlist member HANDS DOWN. The plugin is currently in use on the site in my signature and it's a dream to work with. I don't know of any other wordpress membership plugin that has the same amount of features as wishlist member.

    Highly recommended!

        Thanks guys ;-)

The previous platform I ran it on was Joomla and when we launched the site with the help of Mike Merz and the JV partners the joomla site along with the shared account didn't handle the traffic that well. So I migrated everything over to a dedicated server and then later decided to change the membership model to a FREMIUM (free with premium) model along with the help of Wishlist Member offcourse. Plus ViralInviter has been coded into the signup process so the site goes more viral.

It's yields a WAAAYYY better ROI.

Hey I just wanted to say that I just got done reading your free report, and it is by far, one of the best reports I have ever read online. No bull, no hype, just the facts, and a lot of useful information. So kudos for you for actually trying to help people. Thats awesome and you should be commended.

A couple things...your report has a spelling error under "build a business" it says "dump and uneducated". Hehe maybe you meant to say that, but I doubt it. Also you have a link to purchase your membership. It goes to an error page. Yes its still linked to your site, but thought you might like to know.

I am looking for the best membership solution, but no luck so far. My site is going live next week, please help!

My existing WP SemiologicPro website has a lot of media content embedded in the blog posts and pages. I am talking about videos, audios, PDF files, etc. I am using 1SC and plan to have an affiliate program.

I just spent over a month setting up an aMember, but it is not an easy task. In addition, any future upgrades might override all the customizations I've made.

A few days ago I discovered a Wishlist-member plugin for WP. The sales page and videos promised an easy solution, so I jumped in.

I renamed aMember folder, changed .htaccess and followed all the instructions for setting up Wishlist product.

Nevertheless, my plugin installation has a flow - Non-members are able to do the search and find the links to all the files. Meanwhile, it is essential for my site that members have the access to all the content in the search-able way (I use Advanced Search plugin, as well as regular Search).

I went through all the Wishlist support files, videos, FAQ, but didn't find a solution.

On this forum I found a few more plugin suggestions, but I am not really into buying every available membership plugin and spend days/weeks/months testing them. I noticed that Stu suggested 3 content protecting plugins which should work with Wishlist, but they look suspicious - the BEST one has only 116 reviews (!). I am also not sure if any of them does what I need. I like a lot what I've seen on Wishlist for blog content protection, however I have to have my media content protected as well.

So, if anyone has a suggestion - please tell!

        Thanks in advance,
        Anjie

    Hey Michael,

I would like to add our wordpress membership plugin to your list:

    Member Lock Plugin Documentation

A viral publisher at Nanacast.com is required but it ads far more features to the membership management than any stand alone wordpress plugin could ever provide and you could run hundreds of membership blogs with one account.

Ours will even ship physical products from your choice of two different print on demand services including books, dvds, cds, binders, and combo packs when a person joins a membership blog or on a recurring basis.

Ours will add a premium individual secure rss or podcast feed in addition to the blog content which can be used to send personalized dripped content, real time broadcasts, and even personal rss or podcast messages to individual subscribers.

Ours is also the only one that can automatically ad and remove subscribers to and from both Aweber and Getresponse.

Ours processes any payment strategy you can imagine using Authorize.net, Paypal, or 2checkout. Ours can integrate one click upsells and forced continuity. Ours can do trials and coupon based discounts and even bundle multiple memberships or membership blog accounts in one transaction.

Ours also provides incoming and outbound api that can be used to communication with other locations at the same time it is communicating with your blog... for example if you want to also code integration and communication with an smf or vbulletin forum script at the same time.

Also ours can be used to create and manage an unlimited number of membership blogs, subscribers, and affiliates from one central subscriber and affiliate management account.

Some great suggestions, I would agree with jonb, Wishlist is by far the best! Using the plugin in combination with your signature makes it extremely easy to use! I don't think any of the other WordPress membership plug ins have the same amount of features as the Wishlist ones. Check it out if you can!

My vote is for Memberwing as I have used a few others. Currently I am using it on some sites and I have installed it for a few clients as well. You can check out what I am doing with it at VideoMarketingSeries.com. I purchased the license to install it on unlimited sites because I had a couple of clients already lined up when I purchased it.

You can see what I am doing with it for others by visiting TopRankDesign.net.

I have also used Digital Access Pass once and it is very powerful, but you need to be very technical to use it.

What I like about Memberwing is that it is super easy to use, its fast and lightweight, and it is very seo friendly when used with the all-in-one-seo plugin.

        Agreed, 100%.

I tried, Wishlist Member and it's a great product but the difference in Memberwing is that
it is straightforward, much more user-friendly for the same price. My only gripe is that it
doesn't yet have a scheduled content module included like Wishlist. Aside from that, I'm
a Memberwing fan all the way.

Memberwing now come with the scheduled content module for the Professional Unlimited version. For unlimited license, Memberwing is $100+ cheaper that WP Wishlist.

Comparing between features, both look alike.
Most likely I will go for MemberWing.

One of the warrior here is having a WSO for his wordpress plugin as well. Price wise, definitely much cheaper. But features wise, it has a bit to catch up.

Is the unlimited version of MemberWing also a Developers license?

For WPWishlist, it states unlimited number of your personal domains.
So it cannot use to create my client site.

I am not so sure about Memberwing. If it allow me to do so, then without question, I will get it. But I suspect, they can only used for our own sites only.

Which of the plugin that you have researched allow developer license? I will be interested to have a look.

                Your Member.
                $200 Developer License.

I recall someone mentioning they used MemberWing to develope clients web sites?
The MW developer is a member here so I plan on contacting him to see if that's part of the license.

I just send a question to Memberwing's support to clarify this as well. I suppose it will take some days to get back to me.

Thank for mentioning "Your Member". I just happened to miss that out. The feature lists look great as well. With developer license offered Look like a better choice for me.

As for your finding about MemberWing. Do post here. I will subscribe this topics

    Question for WPWishlist owners:

Are you able to run an affiliate program through it? I don't believe I saw that in the features, so I'd be interested in knowing if it's possible to do at this time.

I just started running Wishlist Member -- it's a bit pricier, but has a solid feature set and is still improving. I found it very easy to use, but there are a lot of options to get used to. It takes a short while to start thinking in Wishlist terms, e.g. combining membership levels into a super membership level so that you can just reference one level, but once you start thinking about these workarounds, it's pretty painless.

Dennis, I think the affiliate program support is on the roadmap, but it's not there yet. I could be mistaken, though, I'm new to Wishlist.

I bought the developer's license because I'm a sucker for a good product.

        Hi Shaun

Where do you purchase the developer's license for Wishlist Member? I do not see that in the site. They do offer an unlimited domain license though. Are you referring to this?

    Hi guys,
Scheduled content delivery is now part of MemberWing premium. It is a separate plugin but it is shipped with all Premium editions.
The reason I made it separate plugin is that you can combine it with other membership plugins that does not have this feature. (you can buy it separately as well).

And it's brain dead simple - just set 'maturity' = 30 (custom field) for premium article if you want it to be visible to the member only after 30 days of him being a member.
Of course number of days could be anything you want.

One business model for this plugin - is you outsource all your content creation, publish all articles and set 'maturity' for them somewhere from 0 to 365.
This way to see *everything* on your site - the member has be paying member for 1 year.

    Michael,

Yeah, I figured you could run an affiliate program through a 3rd party merchant. I am wondering though about having a built-in affiliate system. I'd love to see one built in where all who register become Instant Affiliates - the Butterfly Marketing concept. I always look to add viral elements, and the less I have to fuse in 3rd party features/scripts the better.

    Hi Mifoxy,
With MemberWing 4 release - new significant enhancement was added:
Digital Content Protection with SEO and marketing enhancements.
Above feature allows membership site webmaster to prevent content leaks by members sharing links to downloadable premium materials, images, movies with unauthorized people. Direct download link sharing is no longer a problem with MemberWing - while many other membership site softwares leaving webmasters vulnerable to this loophole.

Additionally to that it allows automatic substitution of premium content with promotional materials for free visitors.
In other words when premium user gets "YOUR-SITE/premium-ebook.pdf" - he gets full version.
But when free visitor downloads the same "YOUR-SITE/premium-ebook.pdf" - he'll get "promo" version of it, instead of full premium version. He will not see "access denied" or 404 - if *you* choose so. So link sharing will be to your benefits from 3 sides:
    - no premium materials are leaked out by direct downloads
    - more potential customers are exposed to your promotional message
    - SEO: More materails are indexed and ranked by Google.

Above set of features are not available in any other membership software, leave alone wordpress based membership software.
    Hope it explains!

Not a plugin - I use DELAVO to run my membership site (currently being setup). Works a charm and got it for free. So if you were one of the lucky ones to get it, you can use it to set up membership on any domain hosted anywhere while using wordpress for content delivery.

Delavo automates the payment collection and username/password distribution aspects of the membership area.

Something Gleb didn't mention, and hopefully Dennis this will help, MemberWing now has an addon for the Rapid Action Profits script that integrates the RAP sales and affiliate process using the Memberwing membership features for a WP site.

I beta tested it and it's exceptional.

If you do decide to use it for recurring billing, you would need the PayPal Subscription add on (get the membership add on, it comes with the PayPal one). This set up would cover pretty much anything you want to do.

    Thanks,

    John

Pro Unlimited allows installation on multiple domains. Presumably on multiple sites that you control. But: every installation uses your license key. You don't want to share *your* license key with who knows what just like you don't want to share your SSN or card numbers with others. When you sell site - you want the other guy to have his own license key, not using yours.
So for flipping you might want to include cost of separate Pro One license. If flipping is your main business model - we could arrange volume pricing.

BTW: Today I will release new update for MemberWing that would allow membership site owners to prevent content leaks and unauthorized sharing.
You will be able to know precisely who stole and leaked your content.
MemberWing 4.20+ will include digital content tracing that will work in a similar way as Secret Service tracks counterfeit currency and money laundering..

There is no other software that does it today for wordpress at this price tag.

But more about it a bit later.

This is a great thread. I think we need a Warrior or plugin developer with more time than I have to create a WSO or comparison paper. Compare all the features, prices, ease of use and installation, software road maps of each plugin. I'd pay for that!

The core features I need are 1) dripped content, 2) protected downloads, 3) protection for sharing accounts/links, 4) AWeber integration, 5) PayPal integration, 6) multiple membership levels and other basic features that it seems many plugins already have. Understanding the schedule for future enhancements / development road map would be nice to! lol

I'm also looking at a static HTML site with AMember, but it lacks the AWeber integration I need.

    Hey Guys,

Thanks for all the great feedback on WishList Member

    One quick thing to note...

There are a couple other WordPress plugins that you could use which when combined with WishList Member that easily let you protect downloadable files (PDF, MP3's etc.)

    They can be found here:

BEST: WordPress › Wordpress Download Monitor WordPress Plugins

BETTER: WordPress › Drain Hole WordPress Plugins

GOOD: WordPress › Secure Files WordPress Plugins

If you have any other questions about WishList just ask because there are many Warriors using it so we can all help.

The other option is to send in a support ticket to our help desk at:

    All the best.

What do you have in the way of a content drip system? I know WLM has sequential memberships, but it's an onerous task to set up a 30-day 30-lesson membership.

Another warrior reports that there is a WP plugin that drips content better but it cost $2500. That's way out of my league, and I thought WLM did this a little (okay, a LOT) easier than reality tells me.

      Thanks.

        Wow, steaks are getting high!
MemberWing includes dripping content functionality as well as integration with AWeber.
So you may drip content 2 ways: yourself via your blog - or setup AWeber to automatically start delivering lessons as soon as new user is paid and joined.

            Hi Bill,
Once you setup payment integration with MemberWing - Clickbank will send payment notification about all your products to memberwing. You cannot specify with clickbank which products it should or should not send notifications for.
To avoid the issues it is better to have separate account for membership products and separate for other stuff.
I will be working to include enhancements to avoid this limitation - but it is not there yet.

The reason I'm going with MemberWing is because it integrates with many powerful affiliate programs. As GlobalPro mentioned above, it works with RAP (Rapid Action Profits), which allows for instant payment directly to affiliates via paypal. It also integrates with e-junkie, another great affiliate program, and many more.

Additionally, I appreciate the prompt responses offered by Gleb in this thread.

Why not use Paypal payment encryption (https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/we...-intro-outside) instead of normal HTML?

      Paypal button encryption uses PKCS7.

...but has NO provision for affiliate management/processing, etc.

Encrypted buttons are only one of the options provided by Paypal, and they are better than nothing, but IPN is a much more flexible option. Also, encrypted buttons won't work at all if you want to pay instant commissions to affiliates.

            I understood, perfectly.

...but that is still a less flexible solution.

Paypal encrypted buttons are static. With dynamically created Paypal order buttons, the merchant has more flexibility - including the ability to pay their affiliate instantly (just one option that is NOT available with Paypal encrypted buttons).

      Read the Trace Fusion article.

I'm very interested in protecting the content on our pages. Sorry but I don't see that as much protection. Preventing copying and screen capture is more important than having a unique watermark. Watermarked content has to be found which is not easy behind any of the many types of 'secure' blocks.

I am not putting down your product because I haven't used it.
So I don't know if it is worth the large amount (imho) you are charging for use on a site. Further, it seems that it is only for WP. I know WP is THE thing for content delivery these days. Most people would be just fine with using an htaccess file and a nofollow with payments handled through PP or PDC or the like.

I guess I don't get the 'need' for so much tech for such a small issue.

Gislason charges huge monthly as does amember, though less.

I have been running memberships since 2005. I looked wide and deep for membership SW but everything out there is ridiculously complicated, or priced, or full of bugs and on and on, low or no support.

Finally, I realized that my temporary fix (htaccess) while I looked SW was actually the simple solution.

      Why the simple works:
      1. My stuff is unique and awesome which means virtually no turnover (and if somebody ever leaves, they can't come back for 2 years).
      2. Simple reasonable straightforward pricing - 3 month subscription only. That means paperwork at most, only 4 times a year.
      3. No affiliates to preen and stroke.
      4. My subs make multiples of the $200 quarterly fee. They realize that if they share without permission, they will be found out and lose their membership - permanently.

I write close to 1,000 words per day 5 day a week. Being unique requires about 3-5 hours per day.

Not bragging, just trying to show how valued content can be protected by simply the penalty of no access.

My niches are irrelevant. Anyone can do this through becoming so valuable to another person that they sorta can't live without your _______ (fill in the blank).

I don't advertise, blog etc. I give away free info everyday. 300 to 400 uniques and hundreds of returning hits on free sites every day. A current site is on page 15 google for a third level keyword phrase. We don't care. When I open subscriptions once or twice a year, I take applications and then have a waiting list for the ones not selected.

Works for us. Try a few of these ideas if you are just starting out.

      TB
P.S. I really am not thrashing your work or your software. It just seems that people always try to do the whole thing first without trying to do the simple parts first - like get a small core of rabid followers. But that takes work, time, effort and TESTing. Business on the internet is harder in many than brick and mortar business is.

      Just keep persisting to persist.

MemberWing offers digital content protection for members.
Even if non-members know exact link to your digital products - they still cannot access it unless they are logged and *and* are premium members.
Additionally to that instead of plainly denying access to your premium digital products for non-members - MemberWing allows you to automatically substitute "short/promo" version of materials if they try to download it.

        Hi Anjie,
As my website is already set-up, I have a folder that contains all my media material. There are literally thousands of digital files that are sorted, organized and linked to in the reports, tables of contents, e-books, etc... Would I be able to protect my exact folder with my existing links, or would I have to transfer them over to that "protected premium directory" mentioned in the MemberWing? (The former would be great, the later is simply not going to work for me).
The links needs to be "virtual" i.e. point to non-existing physical location.
MemberWing would intercept all clicks on such links, find proper file in related real "physical" location and apply membership access logic to allow/deny access to file.
It may be possible to accomplish what you have by renaming your real physical directory so it would fall under MemberWing digital content protection. Hard to say more without studying your case.

The Wishlist just sent me an e-mail that they are in the process of developing it, but this might take another few months.
How by the way would you compare MemberWing to WishList? Can you pinpoint any major differences (and similarities)?
WishList is a decent product, supported and many people are using it and their authors are very active in internet marketing arena.
At some point I even contacted them to consider joint development of full blown solution that would be best for all worlds but it seems they were not interested.
I haven't used Wishlist personally so cannot comment on differences.

I built MemberWing because I wanted to create a membership site that would be able to rank high on search engines so I placed SEO concepts integration on high priority. Other membership softwares just plainly lock away content from everyone including search engines - and that approach was absolutely no go for me.
Digital content protection was requested by my clients so I integrated it into MemberWing.
Currently MemberWing is one step away from becoming not only membership site software but also digital product delivery platform - I just need to find time to do it all.

Gleb, if I understood you correctly, location of bronze/silver/gold/premium files should be REAL, WEB URL to the above files - FAKE. Right now I have all the media files in one REAL directory with many sub-folders. Since I have all my written content already pointing to the REAL location, I'd need to transfer all of the files somewhere else (making it REAL location) and leaving the current real location FAKE. Do you think this would work? How my files would be protected in this case?
What you may try is keep all links in posts and page the same and just rename current physical location of files to something else, such as:
            /public_html/myfiles/ -> /public_html/myfiles_secret

            In memberwing settings:
"Location of premium files" will be setup as '/public_html/myfiles_secret'.
"WEB URL to link to above files" will be set as 'YOUR-SITE.com/myfiles'

So all current unchanged links within posts will become "virtual" and will go through MemberWing digital content protection logic.

In case that wouldn't work for some reason you may always rename your physical 'myfiles_secret' back to 'myfiles' and so no damage is done.

Re: premium markers - yes they need to be added manually.
            Hope it helps.

Gleb- Is integrating with GetResponse anywhere in the works? Also, is this something my programmer can add himself to MemberWing (using the Get Response API)?

I will work starting from tomorrow on integration with MailChimp.
If GetResponse API is really simple - I will consider adding that - let your programmer send me exact spec of adding new user to list. Or even better snippet of PHP code that does it. The rest I had to do myself - so the more clear the task the more chances I'll be able to add it quicker.

Having said that - MemberWing is already integrated with AWeber according to their specs.
Sincerely I am really disappointed by the responsiveness of AWeber and they way they are treating their clients and my customers.
This is the main reason I am going ahead with integration of other autoresponders.

Gleb ... since you are promoting 'MEMBER WING' so heavily, my question to you is if you have any WSO Specials with an heavy discount for the Member Wing Pro Version planned or upcoming? ... If so, you might sell a few more licenses, incl. one for me ~wink~

    Hey folks,

I would like to add my software http://DigitalAccessPass.com - to the mix.

I realize that it's an old poll - and the poll probably cannot even be modified to accommodate additions. But what the heck - it's a great addition to a great list - even if I say so myself :-)

Thanks for letting me play :-)

    Hi lassitermarketing,

DigitalAccessPass.com has a plugin called "Upsell Tree" that allows you to do 1-Click Upsells, Downsells & OTO's.

You need any Authorize.net merchant account, or a Paypal Payments Pro merchant account, in order for the upsells to be true "1-Click".

If you have just a regular Paypal (standard) account, or are using 1SiteAutomation.com or ClickBank, you can still do Upsells/Downsells/OTO's, they just won't be 1-Click.

Take a look at the Upsell-Tree video here:

I purchased the wishlist plugin at the request of my broker (Real Estate) as she decided to create agent training videos that only current agents would be able to access and agents that quit would be disabled right away.

I must say that the WL plug-in works very nicely. You can break up membership levels and even auto "promote" members to a higher level as they progress, pay more fees, etc..
We purchased the $300 version, unlimited sites, and are very happy. It also works seamlessly with 1shopping cart and PayPal checkout (We use PayPal).

Well worth the small investment.. Hope this helps

    Hi Ravi and Gleb,

I've scrutinized both your products carefully and I am really impressed with both. Ravi's affiliate software add-on is a hit, from the perspective that we'll want to enable JV's and super affiliates.

We have a head-scratcher though, and it might be a good idea to add something like this to your software:

We are looking for a content-expiration feature that could expire content based on specific dates, or on a time frame per member. So either a post will be published for a set period of time and then auto-deleted, or it will be auto-deleted a set period of time after being drip-fed to a member.

Is either of you willing to perhaps code something like that in your software? We're pretty desperately searching for this feature.

      Phil,

      DAP already has "Date-based Dripping".

So, for example, if you set a blog post to drip on "04-14-2011" and has a valentine's day offer, then only those who are a member on that date, and those who have purchased the product will have access to the blog post.

Once that day is past, no one in the system will ever be able to access that post ever again. Not members, not even the DAP admin.

The blog post still exists in your WP blog, and you can edit it as WP admin, just like any other post.

But no one else can access it. So technically it is "auto deleted".

      Does that help?

      Hi Phil,
MemberWing-X 5.x (new evolution of MemberWing) includes affiliate software system as well.
Additionally to that the source code of it is not protected and available as a fully featured download here.
Having said that - it does not include "time bracketed" article release feature.
      You have 2 options:
1- Hire me to develop any custom enhancement to it you want.
2- Because source code of it is fully opened - hire someone else with proper PHP/Wordpress skills to do that.
Latter option would likely be cheaper (but you're on your own regarding quality and support of it).

      Phil,

When you say per-member basis, what exactly do you mean?

The way the dripping works right now, is just like an email autoresponder. Different folks are at different parts of the timeline, but they all get the same content dripped on them - just at different times, depending on when they joined.

So someone who joined today will be dripped Day #1 content, someone who joined last week will be dripped Day #7 content, etc. But it's all the same content, just delivered at different times to different members.

Is that what you're asking about?

          Phil,

DAP allows you to drip content in 3 ways:

          1) "Day" based (Day #1, #7, #14, etc - this is like an email autoresponder - we call it a "ContentResponder")

          2) "Date" based ("02-14-2011", "12-31-2010", etc)

          3) "View/Click" based: 3 clicks (on file), 3 views (of post), etc - this is what allows you to do Pay-Per-View or Pay-Per-Click with DAP.

And you can set a blog post to drip on a "Day" in one product, and on a specific "Date" in another product, and for "X" views in a thid product.

          Extremely flexible.

          Hope this helps.

            Thank you Ravi.

            My last 2 questions:

            1. So if I understand you correctly, it's possible to enter a date range, e.g. 04-01-2010 to 04-30-2010, and that particular content will be available only for that period;

            2. In the same way, could I also "auto-expire" content on the "Day" based content dripping? I.e. on day 7 a post becomes available to a member and on day 14 it expires for him?

LOL - I really do believe those were my last questions, Ravi - apologies! And apologies to the other warriors for hijacking this thread with my pre-sale questions! I believe this is probably good for everyone to know though?

Absolutely. You can set start date as "Day #7" and end date as "Day #14".

If you want it to be available forever, then you set start date as "Day #7" and end date as "Day #9999".

I noticed a thread about WP-Member got locked and redirected here, so I thought it was worth posting a cautionary word here.

There are TWO membership plugins called WP-Member out there. One is the entirely legitimate plugin from SmartMediaPro. However another one, is one of two membership plugins we've found that are unauthorized copies of Your Members. The one calling itself WP-Members (again, I stress, not the plugin of the same name from SmartMediaPro) is simply Your Members with a few strings and images replaced (they didn't even think to remove the NewMedias news feed from the admin page).

So, buyer beware, if you're considering WP-Members based on this thread, be sure to get the real one, not the one that is a stolen YourMembers renamed.

I haven't seen anyone mention MagicMember

Anybody tried it or know anything about?

I'm in the research loop for a WP Membership Plugin and wondering if MagicMember is just too new to rate or to be familiar to anybody here.

User friendly is my priority since from looking at features list on all the 2 most often mentioned here are near identical, User Friendly will probably win out.

But I still value the opinions here and always have. So if anyone has input on MagicMember I'd appreciate it.

I'm also giving serious consideration to Instant Member but just not quite sure how or even if it is possible to protect blog posts with a system running outside of Instant Member. Yeeeeeeeeeesh . . . more study, more time AAARRRUUUGGGHHH ! ! !

MemberWing-X (latest version) is not encrypted.
Plus i just published a video tutorial on how to convert any wordpress blog to membership site with MemberWing-X in less than 50 seconds with zero configuration tweaks.

I think community is overdue for something really simple to use yet powerful.

I can't recommend MemberWing enough. I've done several mods for it and some additions (payment processing). As far as ease of use and flexibility it can't be beat.

As a professional programmer, the code is clean, well structured and fast. While you might say you don't care about the code, it affects the speed of your site (read SEO) and security. With MemberWing, you just don't have to worry about it.

I just started last week putting together a website for my clients and others that want to setup a WordPress membership website:

Feel free to PM me with technical questions that you might have.
          Thanks Daniel, appreciate that.
Just for everyone to know - Daniel is an expert in custom Authorize.Net and payment systems integrations (which is not for the faint of heart task).

Plus i just published a video tutorial on how to convert any wordpress blog to membership site with MemberWing-X in less than 50 seconds with zero configuration tweaks.

I think community is overdue for something really simple to use yet powerful.

Wow that sounds interesting, thanks for that information,

Yes, I found that out, sadly I was not able to make use of it as I needed complete access so that I could integrate my own custom scripting into the functions of wordpress.

there were other things too which I am told they are working on, for an average user its fine I am told but for advanced users, probably not the best bet.

Your Members is unencrypted (resulting in at least two companies re-badging it and hoping we wouldn't notice) and has a similar feature list to WishList, it's also possibly slightly more suited to the advanced user who likes to tinker (for example our developer license gives direct email access to the plugin developers themselves). Oh and it's half the price of WishList too.

(obvious disclaimer, I work for NewMedias, YM's authors).

I also used to worry about getting membership software that was "unencrypted" ...

The only problem with that is, as soon as you start making changes, now you can't install any official updates because it will overwrite your changes.

Because Wishlist Member has an API -- you can write your own plugins on top of it (as far as I know, no other membership software besides maybe aMember has this option) plus you can use the official updates as well. It doesn't matter if it's encrypted because you have the add-ons.

      Robert,

MemberWing supports API calls too. The limitation I found with the WishList API is that that it doesn't accommodate financial functions, so they have a separate integration mechanism for those, but those lack some of the fine grained control of the API.

Hopefully WishList will combine these at some point. Hopefully MemberWing will better codify it's API so that it's more generally useful.

    Wow, what a great discussion!

I was doing some research on some of our Analytics keywords, found this thread here, where someone had asked about DAP vs WishList - to which Ken Strong had replied pointing to this thread, and here I am, posting again in this old-yet-priceless thread :-)

Looks like the OP never modified the poll to include DigitalAccessPass :-) . But that's ok.

I'm sure all of the products mentioned here have made great strides in the year-and-a-half since the OP.

DAP has come a long way too - and we're just about launch vBulletin integration (woohoo!).

So I invite you to take another look at us when you get a chance.

    Thanks for your time.

    Cheers!

I just released MemberWing-X 6.x that includes secure Digital Online Store builder with ability to replicate it on unlimited number of other websites and blogs via special HTML widget.

Imagine #1: Sell unlimited number of digital downloadable securely.
Imagine #2: Copy/paste special widget to any number of other websites to replicate your online store wordlwide.
Imagine #3: All that you get for free for commercial use (for blogs with up to 10 members).

Basically you upload your digital downloadables via FTP into your secure directory and they automatically become buyable products with link sharing protection.

See more details in MemberWing-X manual or grab your free MWX 6.x copy here.

      Hi,
Looking to see which of all the available plugins is suitable for a client site, and I would REALLY appreciate suggestions based on your experience of implementing something similar.

      1. Their WP website will be used to sell access to an online book of approx 40 pages separated into 8 chapters.

      2. There will be another 1 or 2 books in the near future.

      3. Needs ability to have affiliates management

      4. Ability to offer quantity discounts or coupons for corporate clients that may want to buy for their staff

      5. Provide statistics, log user IP and how many times each page is accessed by each user.

      6. Work for both defined sets of posts and/or static pages. Or work a similar way i.e. protect each main category, so we could have category name for each book and sub-categories for the chapters?

Time scales is my enemy for this project, so don't have the luxury of testing many plugins.

I must admit, WishList member does look good but I can't seem to determine how much of the above requirements it can do - without adding even more 3rd party plugins?

One last thing, it seems the freely available plugin http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/s2member/
does almost everything, but not sure why it gets little mention. Is there a 'gotcha' I've missed?

Really appreciate any assistance with this.

      Best wishes,

      - Vincent

        Hi Vincent,

Let me answer your questions from a DigitalAccessPass.com (DAP) perspective...

        >>1. Their WP website will be used to sell access to an online book of approx 40 pages separated into 8 chapters.<<
Yes, DAP can do that. You can make all chapters available on the first day itself, or you can drip the 8 chapters little by little. See how I'm dripping my own book at http://NBLEB.com/blog/ . Of course, I'm dripping it for free, just to build my list, but you don't have to drip it for free - you can charge for access, just sayin' :-)

        >>2. There will be another 1 or 2 books in the near future.<<
Yes. You can keep adding a product for each book that comes out, and drip the same.

        >>3. Needs ability to have affiliates management<<
Yes. DAP has built-in affiliate management.

        >>4. Ability to offer quantity discounts or coupons for corporate clients that may want to buy for their staff<<
You can implement coupons using supported carts or services like http://1SiteAutomation.com (which is our private label of 1SC) or e-junkie. DAP also has a built-in shopping cart, which will support coupons in 4.0 (coming in 6 weeks).

        >>5. Provide statistics, log user IP and how many times each page is accessed by each user.<<
        Log user IP: Yes.
        Provide statistics: No.
        Page access details: No.

        >>6. Work for both defined sets of posts and/or static pages. Or work a similar way i.e. protect each main category, so we could have category name for each book and sub-categories for the chapters?<<
Yes, DAP does all of that.

        Hope this helps.

Feel free to ask if you have any other questions.

      Hi Gleb,
Quick question: i am choosing between wishlist member and Memberwing and one of the crucial differences for me is Google First Click Free.

      1) Could you talk a little about how that is baked into Memberwing?
      2) Are there plans for PhpBB integration?

MemberWing-X fully implements Google First Click free standard described by google here. For you as MemberWing-X user - it means just enabling this in General Settings. That's it.
No special plans for PhpBB though. Having said that I can do anything on a private consulting basis if certain requirement is essential for clients.

              Another quick question.

Can this plugin be integrated with Facebook Connect for users to be able to log in using their Facebook credentials?

I am thinking that it can be set up to log in that way and they would still need to initially create a username and password and pay for a membership.

The next time though, they could just use the Facebook connect button to sign in?

Hi Onuor, currently not - but it is a near idea - I'll be looking into that.
It could also be a nice way to build a list as well.

Another loud, resounding vote for WishList Member! Easy to use, easy to install, easy to manage.

You can drip content while also giving access to 'bonus material' behind a login. The possibilities really are endless!

Does anyone know if there is a plugin catered to e-learning memberships?

I am looking for a solution that would be able to track a member's progress
      through the course content.
