I would suggest a program called XSitePro...it's now in its second installation (v2) and a lot of WF members speak very highly of it. You can check out one, maybe two vids of it on the main site at XSitePro 2-Home.
(Helps you build SEO friendly web sites.)

I know fellow WF member James Schramko has a product called "XSite Pro Cheat Sheet", which complements XSitePro...You can check it out here:
xsitepro xsp cheat sheet: ::: XSP Cheat Sheet for XSitePro 2 by James Schramko

Other will say "Dreamweaver", which is also good, but does have a high learning curve if you're not already somewhat HTML savvy.

There's a few other ones, such as NVU (Freeware..Just google "NVU")..and 90 Second Web Site Builder, which you can find at:
    90 Second Website Builder

    If I had to chose myself, I'd go with..XSitePro2 as my first selection....priced @ $197...followed by 90 Second Website Builder...priced at $77...then dreamweaver...priced at above $300...

I'm sure a few other WF members will also chime in with their recommendations as well..and list a few more that I didn't.

    Hope this helps?

      Hi,

Plz don't listen to greedy affiliates here, you don't need xsite pro or any other paid software, if you're starting up you can do well using free software like NVU, just google for the name and you'll get the download link, it's WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) html editor, and doing a great job, when you are in profit and have some cash to spend, don't pay for any lousy software among these heavily promoted, just buy dreamveaver and you're done

      Cheers

For someone that doesn't want to learn html Dreamweaver is not the way to go. Like you said Ahmed the "WYSIWYG" apps like NVU and Coffeecup are the way to go.

          Hello,

Using applications like NVU doesn't need html knowledge,it works much more like microsoft word, the same idea of fonts and editing text with the ability to add images and links, believe me, I gone through this before you and paid software isn't a magical silver bullet, there's no such a "click a button" software for building a website, and by the way, I was able to use dreamweaver the same moment I installed it,no need for long learning time or anything like this,

          cheers,

Fist off, I'm NOT an affiliate for XSitePro, nor do I currently use it, so I'm a little offended by your somewhat blind assumption that those who use it are ALL affiliates. Even if I was an affiliate, I still couldn't benefit by recommending it because aff links aren't allowed. Therefore, where's my 'motivation' in suggesting it?

Secondly, the OP didn't ask for "FREE" recommendations...just 'recommendations' in general and I was merely suggesting it as this type of question has come up in the past and I remember what others have said. I've also seen some great 'how to vids' on using it on Youtube and when "I" compare that, to using NVU, which "I" have used, it appears, at face value, to be MUCH EASIER to use.

Sure, NVU is FREE and is a WYSIWYG...but it's NOT like using MS Word...so don't believe the hype...just install it and see for yourself..there's still a small learning curve, but not as much as Dreamweaver.

For the poster who said they were able to use Dreamweaver out the box w/out any learning curve...congrats...I applaud you..you seem to be part of the small "%" of people who pick up those technical things pretty easily...

I don't know why you're so offended, if you're not affiliated with xsite pro and get no benefit recommending it, then simply you're not meant by my comment, I'm pointing those who plague such reputable forum with affiliate offers when they find some new comer looking for an honest help,
and again, I insist that paid site building software ( other than the market standard dreamweaver) are among the crappiest things in this market, and do nothing extra for the money paid for them, you can get a real professional website using free editors, and if you don't want to deal with html editors, you can get a free wordpress blog on your domain, and with little editing you'll get a great website, that's it, no need to pay a dime for those software, only when you want to move an extra mile and build complicated websites (which I think a level that needs time to reach) only then you may need dreamweaver, and even then, if you've enough money, you can outsource the task to a professional designer and save your time for more profitable tasks,

I know this because I had gone through this before, on my first trials I've spent loads of money and time trying to figure how to build a great professional looking website , to finally discover that it didn't worth it,building the website isn't the big issue to spend money or time on, on the contrary, whenever you've the chance to find someone to build it for you it will be much better for your business,

As an affiliate I think you what you said could be interpreted as offensive and is clearly misguided.

Your single experience is not necessarily representative of an entire market. I would suggest that paid software programs such as xsitepro (which I am an affiliate for) do offer value.

You are much more gifted than most at making websites with a normal HTML editor by the sound of it because many people struggle with it. This means you are in the minority.

XSitePro offers value for the masses in the way of prompts for keywords, auto navigation creation, auto CSS creation, XML feeds, Mobi Sites, templates, sitemaps and a bunch of other stuff.

To do that from scratch in a standard HTML editor is beyond many people.

I struggled to use DW (still do) yet XSP was an enabler for me to get websites cranked out fast and effectively.

I also have statistics from thousands of xsitepro users and hundreds of testimonials that PROVE it is valuable to many many people.

Note - I think Wordpress is the best FREE option for people to learn.

Hello. I too am a newbie, and spent a lot of time trying to figure out how to build a website, (Homestead, NVU, godaddy, w3schools to learn html). Here's the thing, I don't like html or the technical side. So after being on the forum for a bit, I purchased XSITE Pro thru James link to get the cheat sheet bonus. I did buy it earlier this week and went through the tutorial and built the site there. I know I invested money and time going through the tutorial, but from what I see so far, it is much easier, and has the SEO in mind.

So if you are like me, and don't want to get bogged down anymore with html, and want to spend time doing activities that are going to bring in profits, I would recommend XproSite. And no, I haven't signed up for their affiliate program...yet anyways .

Best of luck...let us know where you land.

NVU has been updated to KompoZer - Easy web authoring
my favourite is WYSIWYG Web Builder
at $40 - great value - has some very cool features
90 Second Website Builder is a rebranded & older version of
wysiwygwebbuilder sold under license at almost twice the price

    "I don't like 90second you can't import html templates.

Well I haven't been able to.

    Plus the support is crap."

go page - import - from computer or website ( same for wysiwygwebbuilder )
    wysiwygwebbuilder has awesome support
    www.wysiwygwebbuilder.com :: Index
    - chuckle and I'm not an affliiate - @ 10% of $40 why bother
    cheers

Have to agree with the recommendations to start with Weebly.com - hubpages.com and squidoo are two others that will have you up and running in no time. But if you want to get serious, you have to learn some html to create solid, fast loading pages. I work on a lot of websites that have been visually created in one of the wysiwyg editors and there is always a LOT of unused code in there - just slows down the loading time and upsets your visitors!

I too would suggest trying out Kompozer to start. I used Nvu before, and it was pretty good. Kompozer is an upgraded version of Nvu.

If you also need hosting, most hosts have a website builder included. And here is a good free host with no ads, cpanel, and a sitebuilder included -
    www.000webhost.com

It also has Fantastico included, so you could give Wordpress a try for your website.

This is not my affiliate link, but you can actually make some money giving this hosting away.

Well, it depends on what you are looking for. You can use wordpress and add several plugins to make it powerful. It's CMS so you can add a blog post anytime you want.

You can use free HTML editors like Kompozer(NVU) or PSPad Editor if you want your customized look.

I'd tried it all and because what I like is creating several sites then I built my own script. So I just need to upload text file(s).

Blinkweb is nice if you are a beginner. Its web based and geared specifically for internet marketers. Its by Brad Callen. Wordpress is also nice if you want the ultimate in simplicity. And if you use a mac I can recommend RapidWeaver. It is extremely easy to use.

  • To be honest I think you should look into getting Adobe Creative Suite, it has a nice high price tag but it has everything you will ever need to create stunning awesome looking web pages.

You can design your pages in Photoshop and then cut and slice them into Dreamweaver, it comes with Adobe Flash so you can use them to create stunning flash sites as well.

Dreamweaver and joomla cms would be definitely great as a tool for a web builder. These two tools in itself makes ones work very simple and easy to do for the web development. You can enjoy a large number of options to chose from and various automated tools that make your life in web designing a lot more easier and all the fun.

It depends on what you want to do. For simple brochure websites I like BurgundySky (sorry, can post a hyper link yet). I use it a lot to build accommodation websites and they seem to rank well with a little work on links. These are usually 8 to 10 page websites. The web-page building tools are all built into the hosting. Nothing to install or maintain.

I have also used Joomla, but it's a little more complicated to set up. You've got to install Joolma and install the various plug ins. There are tons of plug ins for Joomla, which is both good and bad as you quickly get overwelmed with choice.

While you could do it all with notepad or dreamweaver, I think you need to learn a lot of technique to get started with that where as CMS systems can cut through some of techo-stuff and let you focus on communicating. At the end of the day writing good copy is the trick.

For newbies, Wordpress is absolutely the best way to get a site up and running with minimal technical ability. Free templates and free plugins are available that can turn your Wordpress blog into anything you want.

For those who want to go the traditional HTML route, why not pick up a free template and use Kompozer to personalize? No need to spend $77, $200 - or anything up front.

Or blogger.com, webs.com, weebly.com and so forth. Dont get stuck on this-just start.
Keep in mind that you can always buy something like xsitepro in the future, or get a tech person to do this part when you can afford it. But starting off-just get something up. Dont worry about the various opinions about if you should get hosting or not. Just get something up. Just because you might start off with blogger or whatever doesnt mean that will be how you do all your future websites. JUST GET SOMETHING UP.
Just an opinion from someone who used to dither to much.

I think WebPlus x4 is the best software (no online web building service) if you don't want to learn html. It might not be very good for web designers, but for people with no html knowledge is the best. I have tried: NetObjects Fusion (Not the easiest, little bit confusing at times), WebEasy professional 8 (good software, lack of features) Visual Site Designer 6.0 (I didn’t like this one for some reason, but that doesn't mean is bad software. I like WebPlus X4 it has lots of features easy to use and if you not sure how to do something, everything is explain in the help file.
