FREE alternatives to aweber

Please, I don't want to pay someone $20 a month for an email system.

Give me some free ideas here that I can check out for myself.

If you don't have a positive comments, be a loster, and get lost.

I'm busy implementing my plan and want to be rich soon.

Thanks!

Mailchimp has a free version until you reach a certain level, after which you pay, but the advantage is not having to move your leads from one service to another.

I have used mailchimp free version but they are very very harsh for a hint of spam. We had a naturally acquired list of emails around 4500 emails. However it was 2 years old and when we started sending out in batches, it blocked us. Another aspect, it checks if you are using multiple free accounts to do your job.

For 3rd party AR services, pls check the TOS.

Many people over look this, they look for many things like the cost, the delivery rate etc which im not saying is not important, but TOS is just as important.

U risk your entire business if you dont read TOS.

For example some AR services dont allow you promoting gambling niche.
Doing so will get you suspended and your account with all your list will be wiped.

But i dont see people talking about this often.

What i see often is "my account got closed?!", "my account got suspended ! "

Sorry, but this is being penny wise and pound foolish as the old saying goes. These free alternatives will mark your e-mails as being amateur hour garbage and you'll find it harder to make conversions. Moreover, if and when you get to the point where you do have need for a real autoresponder, you'll find that it's that much harder to make the switch.

If you really are hard up for cash, consider a cheaper alternative such as Imnica mail, but don't go for a freebie. That's a perfect way to end up in the "IM doesn't work and I quit" crowd.

Do you really think EVERYONE knows what aweber is? Really? I think that is just in the IMers circle if you ask me. Could be wrong, willing to learn, but not spending $20 a month while my email list grows by 1 or 2 sign ups a day...

Your problem will not be with Aweber then but clearly with your List Building method(s) if you are only getting 1 or 2 subscribers per day.

Of course not. My point wasn't that people will tag someone as being in the amateur hour for not using Aweber. My point was they would consider someone as being an amateur hour person for using an autoresponder which auto appends an ad onto the end of their e-mails, regardless of whether it's Aweber, GetResponse, Imnica or a million others. The ad at the end screams I'm an amateur and too cheap to pay for a real autoresponder. But hey, to each their own.

It's not bad but for under $50 it's worth checking PHP Autoresponder. PHP Autoresponder – The Easiest and Most Powerful Email Autoresponder in PHP & MYSQL Available!: Homepage

This requires you to install it on a php enabled server and can setup a database for your list(s) but aside from that it's dead easy to use and has some great features.

            Some include:
            * Preplan all your emails if you want to. They can be sent on specific dates, days or in an order. Just upload them to a folder.
            * Text/HTML format
            * Multiple lists for one domain or multiple domains

I've had it for a few years but have underutilized it. This year it will be getting a work out.

And on the "You look amateur if you use a free service" line of thinking, this is spurious. Email marketing is about the content of your email. Everyone gets zillions of emails so you need good content, not necessarily a good content providing service. Plenty of "IM's" use Aweber to send complete rubbish.

            "Hey,

I've only got a second but when I came across this I had to let you know...check out this link.

            Bob"

How the hell is that going to inspire a click? Inspire's a BLOCK from me.

Quality is not the problem with free solutions but the extra advertisements. Every free service will stick their advertisements either on your outgoing messages or your subscription thank you page. If you're busy trying to grab your customer's attention, you don't want somebody else's link diverting their eyes. If you don't want to pay monthly, consider a self hosted autoresponder.

I've gotta agree with most people on this thread. If you're taking your list building seriously then a free service probably isn't going to cut it.

If money really is an issue could you not sign up for their $1 trial for the first month? If you get 1 or 2 subscribers as you say, you should be able to cover the $20 a month fee using your list after the first month is over.

Just be aware that Listwire has serious limitations.

First of all the advertisements .. that's not good for your business.

Also if you don't get new sign ups for a particular amount of time they close your account and you can't do a thing about it. (well there wasn't last time I checked).

After trying Listwire, MailChimp & Madmimi that's just what I did.

Right now I'm not getting sign ups either as I'm creating content, but I've got it all in place ready to go on my new site, but I recognise this as an investment because once I start getting sign ups I'll make the money back in spades.

  • I've been using Aweber for years now and love it. They really give you so many tools to segment and then view reports.

If I were starting over and didn't want to pay the monthly fee, I'd go with Mailchimp. But yeah -- not sure how well they like Affiliate Marketing.

These free alternatives are never FREE in the truest sense because they all cost you something it may not be money but it will cost you time which of course is money. it will cost you more if you use a free auto responder, right now you can get a getaresponse account free for one month.

During the money they will make you an offer to only pay $14 monthly for a list of up to 1000 subs

Try Listwire, but be prepare because it has an ugly optin form with a link text "click here for your free autoresponder" (I don't mind with it myself since I use Listwire for one-shot non-IM niches and this service overdelivers big time, but many people won't be agree with me).

ImnicaMail has a free account for 1000 subscribers. Even if you go to paid version, it's just $3/1000 subs.

    want to be rich soon
Stop that annoying mentality to get rich asap - unless you want to join the crowd of "I have spent $ x,xxx for IM products that promised me to be rich but get scammed and fail. I quit!".

is this some kind of a joke thread to see how many people respond or something?

im saying that by the way you have written your thread

just in case your are being serious, dont EVER EVER EVER EVER use a Free auto-responder

if you dont have $20 a month to invest in a professional service like aweber then keep working untill you can afford it

you are building a business online so you need to take it seriously and not take shortcuts just to save a few buck on something as cheap as an auto-responder

your auto-responder wil be your main work horse over the coming years so do yoursefl a favour and invest in a good one (not free) if you get a free one you will not have any rights to your leads and its a complete waste of time

I'll mimic what others have said. Don't go free! You will regret it in the long run. Invest in your business and use one of the two top rated providers....aWeber and Getreponse.

The emailing software isn't the issue. It's actually having your emails delivered and not marked as spam. I would advise you to go with aweber or getresponse for the shear fact that your emails will get delivered. There is not point is using some free program that your emails will end in the spam folder. Your going to lose more sales and kick yourself in the ass for not spending $20 a month. I learned the hardway.

Free autoresponders has a bad reputation for being used by "am" marketers that send Scam and Spam emails.

If you want that 3 out 4 mails end in the spam inbox of your list then go ahead and throw away your time. But if you are really serious about having a list and monetize them successfully then invest (not spend) money in a good autoresponder service that will guarantee that your mails will have little to no chance to end in a spam inbox.

Come on take your business seriously and put your efforts on building your list there is plenty of threads in here that will give you more than one bit of knowledge on how to do this quickly and easily.

Now, if you are asking to spam and scam your list then google "free autoresponders" and join one or all of them.

you can't penny pinch neither on autoresponder or hosting those two babies are crucial for your business.

I have tried many of the free list building tools out there, including mailchimp and listwire. Sorry, but they just don't cut it for a serious business. Listwire is a complete drag and I would never use it. Since I am a penny pincher and mostly use WP on my sites I opted for a free WP plugin which works very well. The link is below:

You need a trustworthy provider in all honesty my friend.

If you send out an email to your list of let's say 2000 subscribers and because you used a FREE service only 30-40% received them then you have already lost out big time anyway.

You need to look at GetResponse or Aweber my friend as they provide great deliverability and service and make you look like a professional to your customers.

This is Priceless my friend when it comes to communicating with your list.

I do not wish to to offer any FREE service as I feel I will only be fooling you.

Please take this advice and go with one of the two I have mentioned.

Hope this helps and good luck with all your future efforts my friend!!!

also notice mailchimp is free but.. they love to ban you after few mesages and tell to buy subscription

    Try Constant Contact.
They're right there amongst the top notch services, yet they have a 60 days free trial.
I guess you will know by then whether you have a growing list and how much you're willing to pay.

Another option you might want to consider is Vertical Response. they have a pay as you go plan, that's about 1 cent per email, so if you don't have that many subscribers yet, it's a good plan.

    Best.

Anyone using and have experience with Interspire??! Working with Bluehost or Hostgator? I know hosting companies put a stop to a lot of server scripts.

I f you are using shared hosting , they will suspend or even banned your account, cause Email marketing script eat lot of resource .. and usually shared hosting only allowed you to send broadcast to MAX 500 subscriber a day..
So If you have 5000 subscriber you will need 10 days to finish the queue

I suggest you go with VPS like knownhost, wired tree, servint, or future hosting

Your autoresponder or Hosting represent who you are, if you using free one, then how come you make your subscriber believe you to join this and that.. cause in their mind you can't even afford to pay an Autoresponder

Also keep in mind "You've got what you paid for"

My 2 cents. One of the best lessons I've learned (the HARD way) is you really do get what you pay for. Why go the cheap route, invest all the work and possibly lose your hard earned subscribers? Your list is the most valuable asset you could have!

I suppose you don't use Wordpress, Facebook, YouTube, or Twitter then... all of which are 100% free.

But as you said, you get what you pay for... //sarcasm

I've been over this time, and time again... for some people, $20 a month is 20% of their monthly earnings. Many of you have the misguided impression that IM is something that's only happening in well established countries... that simply isn't the case.

I had a ListWire client in the Philippines build their list, and earn a single commission for $75 on a product they sold... that $75 paid for the groceries for their entire family of 10 for a month!

They'd been building their list for 5 months at that point.

Do the math... $20 a month x 5 months = $100 spent on the autoresponder to see a $75 return. That's a LOSS of $25. And, more accurately... this client wouldn't have been able to afford $20 a month for a paid service, so the $75 they earned using our service wouldn't have been possible if there weren't free autoresponders available.

This particular client has gone on to earn several hundred dollars, and is now working in IM full time... as I said, the world isn't all "rich" countries like the U.S., U.K., and Europe... most of the world can't afford $20 a month, but they can afford free!

Keep that in mind when ripping free autoresponders like ours... you may be preventing someone in a developing country from earning a few hundred bucks... which may not be life changing to you, but that could literally be more than a lot of people earn in an entire year doing hard labor.

And even then, as of right now, the average American has LESS than $400 in their checking account! That's right, less than $400...

If you were paying $20 a month, for a year, that's $480... and don't even think of fooling yourself into believing that the majority of people are successful in building their lists in the first few months...

      They're not.

How long did it take you to make your first sale as a result of your list? For many, it's 6 months to a year... if ever!

Why waste that $20 a month (or more) on a service that's going to cost you money in the short run... it's always possible to move to a paid service later if you're finding that's what you want to do... but if you never want to move, you can remain with ListWire for free, and keep sending to all of your prospects, for free, forever.

In short, everyone needs to get their heads out of the asses...

This isn't 1998 anymore. Stop spouting the same crap about "Free autoresponders" suck... it's not true anymore.

It used to be, but times have changed... and if you're not willing to do some actual research, keep your uninformed opinions to yourselves.

      -Gary Ambrose
      List Wire

P.S. This post isn't directed at the person I'm replying to only... it's directed at everyone stupidly telling others that free autoresponders should be avoided at all costs.

If those people actually believed "Free" was garbage, Wordpress wouldn't be powering one in every 5 websites, and Facebook wouldn't have a billion members...

Technology isn't as expensive as it once was. It's 2012 people... wake the hell up!

I wish more people knew about All In One Profits. Then aweber and constant contact would be out of business.

Not only them but so would hostgator, blue host, host rocket etc.

For ten dollars I get hosting and a unlimited autoresponder with analytics.

if you have a WordPress blog just add a mailer plug in and add the script sign up to the page instead of anyone else's sign up form. some even have an autoresponder in them.

Some has suggested it already but yeah you can use GVO. It's not necessarily free since part of the "Free Stuff" you get when you avail of their hosting services.

It's cheaper than Aweber though. However if I were you, I'd suggest sticking with a well known autoresponder like Aweber or GetResponse.

If you want to go free until you have some subscribers then go with Getresponse. They are free up to I think it is 200 then you start paying more as you get more subscribers and you dont have to change to another autoresponder

I also noticed that everytime someone asks about AR we get hundreds of different AR that nobody has heard of except the probably best free one Listwire or Aweber and GetResponse and all the usual "Dont use Mailchimp for affiliate marketing or your account will get shut down"

If you want free then go with Listwire or GetResponse the only 2 that I would recommend

Google Feed Burner and Mailchimp basic are free alternatives. But if you have a large mailing list, you have to go for mailchimp premium.

I wouldn't recommend mailchimp. If you look in their TOS they don't allow affiliate marketing, and seem to dislike any form of "profit" marketing. It's posted on here.

      exactly what i was saying..
      Nobody looks at TOS.

Everyone is just looking at price.

Till something happens to their account then they go "hey wad happen, i lost my X thousand members on my list ! "
