What Tell a Friend Script do you use?

I've used & continue to use Viral Friend Generator...as long as you have cpanel hosting, it works great.

If you use GoDaddy for hosting, find something else because it'll be a nightmare, lol

I use VFG, but I'm looking at TrafficXplode 2.0 (not an affiliate link). It looks like it has many of those same auto import of contacts feature that Viral Inviter is using... except, if I'm not mistaken, Viral Inviter is hosted/installed on your host account, while TrafficXPlode is hosted on their servers so you're not sending mail through your host.

My friend is using it on www.FreeWebAudio.com (not an affiliate link) and it looks clean and 2.0-ish (if that even means anything).

I'll take a closer look at Viral Inviter - all of my sites are using VFG, but I'd like to minimize visitor input in order to reduce errors.

  I don't advice using a 'Tell a friend' script or enabling 'Tell a freind' feature in your affiliate manager panels. People just abuse it.
  
  Once I received an email from my mother who sent an email to me (to send a link to me) from this tell a friend script on a site. Email is full of links to commercial banners.

Hey BJ,

I think Aweber's policy is that you can't add people to your
autoresponder with a tell a friend form. They just don't want
to be sending things to people who didn't ask for it.

If you use another program to send an email, and then that
person visits your website and opts-in, they are asking for
information from you so aweber is ok with this.

If anyone caught this a different way, please clarify for me.

hi BJ,

I used VFG and recently changed over to ViralInviter (VI).

Personally, I preferred VI over VFG mainly for the following reason:
- ability to pull in email info from other sources (eg. yahoo, gmail etc)

- ease of use

- statistics available

- control over how many email you can send over a period. VFG don't have this feature. This feature is important if you are on a shared hosting plan and if you do not want to flood your mail gateway.

Btw, as shared by radhika above, a TAF script sometimes can be used by members to spam other people. You should consider the following to reduce this risk:
- activate CATCHA verification so as to avoid bots-spamming
- don't allow the member to amend your email message

  I posted a warning about this procedure only a week ago.
  The spammers are now using any site with tell a friend scripts.
  
  Guess what?
  
  You get your hosting closed down!
  
  All the spam emails are going through your host's server by the million a day.
  
  Automated software is being used by spammers to find sites with such scripts - I know there are a lot of sites with them- but it is only a question of time before they find yours - it's too easy.

has anybody made experiences with Super Tell A Friend? (http://www.super-tell-a-friend.com/; not aff link).

I bought it, but haven't used it yet. The only issue I have with it in theory is that the address book importing is not on https...

Support is fast and friendly and has some great features. WIll only use it within membership site and 'hidden' behind social share features, so I trust spammer bots will stay away

Anyone used both this and Viral Inviter for comparison?

I've used Super Tell A Friend twice in two campaigns. It's an awesome tool, if I could get it to work the way I want it...it was installed correctly and support even after a year is good but I still don't think it's doing it's thing.

It's probably me , and not the software...

I use Mike Cowles' Tell A Friend script, and usually allow three friends to be invited at a time.

Strong warning coming from Tony Dean, seemingly unheeded by the majority.....
