SEO PowerSuite or IBP

Not sure which is the best, I have been looking at around both but really confused which one to buy and try.

I am looking for a good tool which evaluates and gives detailed analysis of my website status compared to the competitors and thus help me beat my competitors and out rank them.

Any suggestions?

we use Seomoz to track our webshop's progress. it is an online tool and it emulates a search engine's ranking algorithm to give you stats. You could try and test it yourself.

  • You can try Traffic Travis for your keyword selection and complete site analysis. You may also use this tool to check your competitor's backlinks.

I picked up Page One Infiltrator the other day, really easy to use and I love the reporting. I also use SEO SpyGlass - looks more professional, but I prefer POI for ease of use.

I looked at link-assistant tool and I wonder:
It seems to encourage you to maintain a link directory page where you share / trade links with other sites.

I was told this is a bad idea, tha Google frowns on having such a page. My SEO guy told me to lose it.

Anyone think it's okay/ good to have such a page? I know it's good to have links but a) is it good to have a reciprocal 2-way link directory program; and b) is it good to haev link exchanges with sites that are not in your niche? (With my niche it's nearly impossible to get sites to exchange links because everyone is competing.)

I was wondering the same thing. SEO PowerSuite seems to have the most highly rated tools, so why do they have a Link Manager program that creates reciprocal link directories in this day and age?

Ethan97, thank you for asking this question - that really needs explanation on our part.

LinkAssistant was the first tool in SEO PowerSuite series launched back in 2005, and it is a link management tool.

These days, Rank Tracker, SEO Spyglass and WebSite Auditor are the three most popular tools in SEO PowerSuite bundle, and when speaking about SEO PowerSuite software they use, people usually mean these three. In our turn, we’re also focused on Rank Tracker, SEO Spyglass and WebSite Auditor when it comes to adding new features and updates.

Still, we prefer keeping LinkAssitant a part of SEO PowerSuite because many people find it useful. They would use it to verify existing links, check banner ad placements, keep track of media mentions or reviews, find guest blogging opportunities – there are really lots of purely white hat activities you can do with good ol’ LinkAssistant.

The key is not to perceive LinkAssistant literally and find its “hidden powers”: verification, tracking, partner search are its stronger points.

So you are agreeing that link exchange is not a good way to build links at this point? If so, you may want to make that clear inside your software so people don't make a mistake and exchange links.

I see that many people offer services that are not such a good idea yet they do not tell anyone that it's not a good idea, and that can lead to problems for the newbies.

Sure thing, we agree that link exchange is an outdated method. To our knowledge, very few clients of ours use it for its original purpose - the one LinkAssistant was created back in 2005, i.e. link exchange. As we have mentioned above, these days most webmasters use the tool for verification, research and management purposes.

You're absolutely right, we should figure out the way to explain LinkAssistant contemporary usage to newbies.

Thanks for the reply linkassistant. I really hope you make it a PRIORITY to put something in there about how NOT to use link exchange because your software is too expensive to have a newbie buy it and then RUIN their SEO plan with outdated methods encouraged by the expensive software they just bought to HELP them!

No offense, but nobody should be buying software and then building their linkbuilding plan around what the software does. They should have a plan first, and find software that fits their needs.

Although, 1 for 1 link exchanges are not a good idea, this software is great for tracking links that were acquired from webmasters and making sure they remain.

SpyGlass and RankTracker are the real reasons to buy the PowerSuite though, in my opinion. Especially SpyGlass. Nothing can touch it when it comes to analyzing backlinks.

I've had Rank Tracker, part of SEO power suite for a couple weeks now. The only negative I have on it currently is that in order to use anti captcha service you have to buy it through linkassistant, the makers of seo powersuite. The cost per captcha solve is nearly triple that of other providers.

They should allow the user to submit their keys from 3rd party anti captcha services like many other IM programs do.

here is link assistants pricing for anti captcha
Order Anti-CAPTCHA service key for SEO PowerSuite

take their $99.99 for 25,000 captchas and compair it to death by captcha's $34.75 for 25,000

I have used both of them and they give a totally different outcome when it comes to website auditor. What IBP tells you to change SEO Powersuite tells you different.

How can 2 programs that are meant to do the same thing has such different reports on a site?

IBP is only compare our site withe competitor, its not follow the Google standard algorithm, it would be best if you try the Web CEO or analyze the site manually, because none tool give us 100% perfect result, i have no idea about SEO Power Suite.

I prefer SEO PowerSuite and still find a lot of the features useful. Just completed a review (over 2000 words plus 2 videos of how i use it and screenshots) at my blog here (don't worry - no affiliate link ). Check it out because I think it will answer your question in depth.

My favorite tool is the seo spyglass right now (its like a combo of opensiteexplorer and ahrefs). you mentioned comparing your site to competitors sites to outrank them. then definitely download the trial of seo spyglass. you can study the backlink profile of the top 10 competitors in google (serp) and see what you need to do to outrank them. if you have more questions, pm me or feel free to ask me here.
