What's the Best Camera and Video Editing Software for Making YouTube Videos?

Hi Warriors,

Just curious what you use/recommend as far as cameras and video editing software to make high quality YouTube videos of yourself talking to the camera?

Thanks!

I don't know the camera, but the software I use for editing is Camtasia Studio.

From what I've read, DSLR's offer the best video quality in their price range.

As far as software goes, I use iMovie myself. It came free on my Mac, and has tons of potential for being free.

On the more professional side of things there's Final Cut, although the only experience I have with it was back in production class when I was in high school. I've also done some minor tinkering in Sony Vegas back when I had a PC, but nothing major.

Hopefully someone more qualified than myself in this field can chime in as well.

At one time the Flip camera was the easist, least expensive best option. Not sure what is currently the best choice. But, I am also curious to the answer.

It all depends on what kind of videos you are making. Camtasia or Screenflow for instructional type videos. For other types of videos iMovie or Windows Movie Maker are fine to start out with. If you want something more powerful yet still affordable I'd go with Sony Vegas. As far as camera's the Flips aren't being made anymore, but the Sony Bloggie still is.

I use iMovie on the Mac and Pinnacle Studio on the Windows PC. As for cameras it really doesn't matter so much these days. Any decent HD camera will do the job. More important is to use a good tripod.

I depends on your budget but I highly recommend Canon 550D. I'm using it for myself and my clients. Best camera for excellent quality videos. Software: Sony Vegas. Again, bit expensive but quality is awesome.

Camtasia is the one I have experience with. It lets you slice and dice you video in any way you'd like, add text, highlight stuff, add transitions between frames, zoom in, speed up frames or make them slower... It lets you add several sound tracks, make them lower/louder at any point you'd like.

A real rookie solution is Windows Movie Maker. I can never make the frames the length I want with in it, though, since you have to drag them, and it has significantly fewer options.

Yeah I agree with what other members are saying - Camtasia!
However, I recently bought Proshow Gold, have been using it for local offline biz clients - incorporating picture slides for the videos, and I must say the videos come out Excellent...

I use camtasia, it works great and is simple enough.. You can easily put up popups in the video and be creative with it. Just look into it..
