2Checkout vs. Clickbank: SCAMS, recurring billing & Affiliates...

Hey guys!

I was excited to get selling my low priced offer and free month trial for the continuity program with Paypal.

I just confirmed through their call center that the only way Paypal can charge recurring billing is if they have an existing paypal account. For those that don't have an existing account, they have to sign up and verify it before being able to purchase my product.

I wouldn't go through the hassle of signing up for and verifying a paypal account just to buy a low priced product similar to the one I am offering (despite its high value)...

I am going to be using this for a pretty simple continuity model. Monthly (or bi-weekly) billing for a series of interviews sent to the customers via an email auto responder service.

With this in mine I began looking for other options. I am in Canada so Authorize.net is out. This leaves the following options:

-Clickbank
vs.
-2Checkout

-Clickback has higher fees but has a huge affiliate network.

-2Checkout has lower fees, no cap on the length of recurring income and doesn't charge you to withdraw funds. It does have an ugly check out window though!

Right now I am leaning towards 2Checkout.

What are your thoughts?

Thanks for your time!

~Sean

I've used both for years and have been happy with both. 2CO has excellent customer service.

I am in Canada so Authorize.net is out.
I just spoke on the phone with a fellow warrior (Who lives in Canada) who obtained an authorize.net gateway enabled merchant account from:

ChargeToday.com - "We look forward to EXCEEDING your expectations!"

I called them to speak with them about this and got a message on my machine back confirming it was possible to do. I would contact them and find out before you rule it out.

I recommend 2co to people who only have no other choice.

Frankly I think you are far better off using paypal instead of 2co. Not only will the fees be 50% of what you will pay with 2co paypal is far more trusted and depending on your market most people buying online have paypal accounts or trust the brand enough to register one.

Wow Josh. Thanks for the great info!

I'll have a chat with ChargeToday tomorrow.

Why are you such a strong supporter of authorize.net? I've heard good things but didn't look into it because I read (on here) that they don't support companies outside of the US or the UK.

Anyone else have any other recommendations or feedback on Clickbank vs. 2co?

The cheapest, most effective way to do this is with Authorize.net and 1ShoppingCart.com. You should have no issues there. I also agree that if you don't want to pay for a merchant account right away Paypal is the best option of them all.

            Thanks for the feedback!

Why does everyone like authorize.net so much?

Also, I'm a little confused. You said that the cheapest, most effective way to do this is with Autohrize.net & 1shopping cart. But then you go on to say that Paypal is the best option if you don't want to pay right away.

Is Authorize & 1shoppingcart or Charge Today cheaper than the 3-5% paypal charges?

Just get a Merchant Account - you'll have a lot less hassles.

It seems like going through the process of setting up a merchant account and gateway seems like a big hassle compared to how easy it is to setup 2co or Clickbank.

      Am I missing something here?
