Plagiora - Multi Language Plagiarism Checker

Hi Warriors,

What do you think about this tool: http://www.sitesloft.com/plagiora/index.php

You can enter English text and check for plagiarism in multiple countries (for now French, Spanish, Portuguese and German).

I think it is helpful because someone may translate an article from a different language and give it to you in English, saying it is 100% unique and Copy Scape doesn't detect it, but Plagiora does.

Looking forward to hear your thoughts.

Thanks

Recently someone talked to me about building a Wordpress Plugin that was scraping websites in different languages other than English, translate the results into English articles and post them as Wordpress posts. Running those translated articles through Copy Scape, no results would be found so the article would be marked as unique.

I find this a little bit of a problem, so i think Plagiora is a good tool!

Plagiora sets a limit of 2000 characters per article. That's its disadvantage when compared to Copyscape.

I also tried to copy and paste an existing content of a website and checked it through Plagiora. Plagiora says the content is still unique when it was copied from an existing website. That's weird.

English was selected for both tests.

Bottom line: Plagiora still can't beat Copyscape at this stage. We're not affiliated to Copyscape, however. Just an honest review.

Thanks for your review. However, i see something wrong with it..I am tracking in a database al searches done on Plagiora and so far all searches that are there were executed by me. When exactly did you try it ? Can you show me the example that didn't work for you and said it is unique ?

I can make it work for as many characters as possible, but it would be more expensive.

Just wanted to share my idea and see if it's worth working on this product with some honest opinions from Warriors. Yours doesn't seem very honest, since i can tell you haven't even tried Plagiora.

Let me start off by telling you that I don't have any motive for not being honest in my review. Whether I tell you that your Plagiora is the best ever tool in the entire creation of God or not, I won't get even a dime. So where's the point of being dishonest?

When you're asking us to review your tool, you got to be careful in your choice of words.

If your tool does not have a 100 percent working audit trail that records all attempts of checking, you should be thinking what's wrong with your tool, why did it not record the checking attempts I did yesterday, and so on, instead of thinking how dishonest I am in making a story that I did not check anything using your Plagiora.

Am I right or you're wrong?

I'm very sorry, you are absolutely right. There was a small bug in it which i just fixed..

I take all those words back.

Thank you for your honest review.

At this moment, with the bug fixed, the main problem is with the characters, which cost me money when they are translated.

Okay, mate, no worries on that.
How does it cost you? You mean to say, every time we use your tool, you have to pay someone?

Yes it costs for the translation from one language to another..so it's impossible to release it as a free service. It is about $0.05 per 1000 chars. That's why i'm currently limiting it to 2000 chars.

So..you think it is worth it ? And would anybody pay for such a service ?

If you have operational costs, there's no point in giving this out to the public for free. It's either you break even or you put some money into your pocket.

I'm just curious. Knowing that you're paying something for this project, why do we have free plagiarism checkers online? Is it valid to think they have reliability issues?

I am thinking of a 'reliability issue' because most often than not, these free plagiarism checkers do not find what Copyscape can find.

    Your thoughts are appreciated.

I think the way that the free sites are working is that they are scraping some search engines which don't have limitations per IP. I checked and if i try to scrape Google i get a message telling me "limit reached. try again later.", so they must be scraping some other sites which are nothing compared to Google or other big sites and don't return the same results, they only return very poor results.

A proper way to do it in my opinion is to signup for a good search engine's API and use their valid API methods. And for that you must pay some money for:

    - # of requests (when searchin)
    - # of characters (when traslating)
    etc..

I'm not sure how CopyScape is doing it, but that is exactly what i did and i think it works a lot better than the free services.

You are absolutely right, there is no point of giving it for free, that is why i am thinking whether i should release it as a paid service, or not release it at all. Whether people will pay to check for multiple languages or not. Because Copy Scape is already doing it for the same language and there is no need for doing another service that does the same thing. And by my testing, i kind of see the same results on Copy Scape and on Plagiora.

Erm, I've been looking for some information about Plagiora, because all out of sudden the tool is not working anymore and I have no clue what have happened.

Anyway, meanwhile I've found a much more better solution to check translated texts for plagiarism - http://www.plagtracker.com/, it works with English, Spanish, Romanian, French and German. If I understand the mechanics in a right way it should basically work well with every language using latin alphabet.

    Warriors,
The above given website is not working anymore. Fortunately i have found a great alternative. First of all i translate my webpages through Google translator, then i use bulk checking feature of Plagiarism CheckerX to check it. It is a great software, even better than Copyscape.
