Best email marketing software?

When you say for personal use, do you mean for friends or for marketing ?

For marketing Aweber is one of the best among Getresponse and Icontact, or if it's cheaper you want there is Imnica and Mad Mimi, for a free one the best is ListWire.

If you did mean for friends you would not need an email service like that, then an email client like Thunderbird, Outlook or an online one like Gmail, Yahoo Mail or Hotmail would be fine.

I would check out reviews of ListWire before considering it, they apparently send their own ads out to your list

I would think MailChimp would be good for your home requirements - MailChimp works very similar to aWeber and GR but it is free for a certain amount of emails per month - For personal use doubtful you would need more than their free service. You don´t even have to give them a credit card. You get the same service and can track clicks and opens etc.

If you're only sending to family, why not use Gmail? Just create a "contact group" with all your family in it to make sending easier.

Definitely, I would recommend going with a free solution for this informal communication. I have found Yahoo and Google quite adequate for my needs.

I second Mail Chimp if you are looking for a free solution for a low volume of email for personal use. To keep it free you just have to keep the Mail Chimp link in the footer of the email. Here is a full list of other popular email marketing software solutions with prices and overviews.

Last I checked, Imnica was going straight to Gmail spam. Test feverishly if there is a refund period.
