I hear people talk about it all the time, and from your personal experience, what makes it special to you?

  • In regards to the 1.8 version, it's very easy to learn and use. I bought Thesis when I first started using Wordpress and thought the user interface was really straight forward.

As far as 2.0 goes, I've downloaded it but haven't had the time to learn it. It's a completely different animal.

Easy to customize and because it's popular there are a lot of great tutorials out there about it.

    Hey David!

For programmers and coders, it used to be "the" framework of choice to build your WP on. Then Genesis came along and derailed their plans. Every major Thesis "guru" jumped ship for Genesis.

The problem with Thesis 1.0 was that you needed a tutorial to do damn near anything and everything. Out of the box, Thesis was ugly as sin and customizing it was very difficult unless you were a developer or had lots of time on your hands to follow tutorials.

Then Thesis 2.0 came out and, frankly, not much has changed. You still need to be a total developer nerd to customize it according to the linked article.

These days, I use StudioPress for damn near everything. I still have a few sites running ProfitsTheme but that's going to change soon. Genesis is just so, so fast and much 'prettier' out of the box.

I know you're a damn good developer, so you can probably run with Thesis. But don't turn a blind eye to Genesis. It's hooks and speed are impressive.

Great information. We are probably around the Thesis 1.0 phase with phpLD 5, but starting to make things easier for people. We are just a month out of the gates, and 2013 is going to be fun. I am going to study Genesis for sure!

It is okay to contact me! I have been developing software since 1999, creating many popular products like phpLD.
