I installed it, it is working great on two sites and I interviewed the creator about it. I think it is excellent and I use it in my business.

They do Guarantee it will double or else you get your money back. I have had a great relationship with Market Samurai for 4 years or so and i trust them for development. They are no fly by nighters.

For the right use of the plugin with a good product or opt-in it should get you the results they have tested themselves with over 711,000 customers so far...

Can you change the English wording next to the counter (Days, Hours, ...) to another language or are they hard coded into the plugin. Would love to try it but need it for a German market.

Hi there you can change the wording next to the days and hours to whatever you want. However you can't change the words Days, hours, mins, secs at this moment.

Im sure this will be something Noble Samurai may allow to be edited in a later release.

it's a good idea and all...but to me, 97 dollars is expensive for what it is.

Cookie + countdown timer = $97? really?

and it cost them $80,000 to develop that?

I'd have to call shenanigans on that.

I was wondering the same thing Inferno. I just sent an email in to Support asking if there's something special about the email autoresponder integration with Aweber.

To me, the only thing that would make it worth $97 (or worth paying for at all) would be if it created a custom LINK which is used in the email sent out for the campaign, so that no matter what computer is used the countdown timer would be the same.

Since most "cookie countdown timers" can be easily beat by either reseting your cookies, or accessing the page from a different computer / IP location.

Guess I'll know when support responds...unless someone who has bought it can answer?

Okay I think I figured out what makes Scarcity Samurai different vs. just a regular WP cookie countdown plugin (which there are many)

The best way to explain this is via a mock scenario (something the Samurai team really should have done to clarify the difference)

SCENARIO: Prospect comes to your website's squeeze page and opts-in to watch a free video or access a free report.

SCARCITY SAMURAI SCENARIO: He receives an email a couple days later saying that a special offer has been created, but it will expire in three days.

If he clicks on that email ONE day later, and visits the offer page, he should see that there is TWO days remaining to take that offer.

Or if he doesn't click the email right away (because he's away on vacation) and visits the page the NEXT week, the offer should be expired.

NON-SCARCITY SAMURAI SCENARIO: The prospect gets back from his vacation, and THEN clicks through emails from the previous week. He clicks on your "offer email" and goes to the special offer page...which THEN triggers the cookie-based countdown timer telling him he has 3 days left to grab the offer...

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I can tell this is what makes Scarcity Samurai shine vs. a countdown timer which is triggered only once the page is visited. (As opposed to being triggered once the opt-in is created)

My question though (Paul maybe you could clarify this), is if the countdown timer is triggered based on the opt-in signup. Should the countdown timer not be the same no matter what computer he uses?

Since he's accessing the page via a link in an email sent out? Or is the link sent out via the autoresponder just a regular a webpage URL with no special link tracking/coding?

i dunno....everything you guys are saying seems to be exactly the same...all this is, is a countdown timer with a cookie attached to it. literally nothing more. you could have that coded on odesk for 4 dollars.

guy opts in. is given a cookie that tells the countdown timer what the start time is. countdown timer counts down a preset amount of time till 0, once its over, it redirects to an expired page.
it's an excellent concept, and Id have no problem paying say 15 bucks for it, overpaying by a bit for the noblesamurai name....but 97 dollars? im sorry guys, its a ripoff.

The arguments of both sides about the price are valid (those who are for and those against).

Though, I found 97 $ to be a little higher than what I would expect for such a plugin.
Fortunately for me, Jeanne over at TheLeveragist.com is offering a $31 rebate for Scarcity Samurai to her customers.

I just got mine this morning. Makes it much more affordable. I'm sure if you send her an email, she'll do the same for you.

yeah, i used that service for Market Samurai, which of course is a great product and totally worth the money.

I dont mind spending on a good product, and im sure this is a good product, but im the kinda guy who wants the price to represent what youre getting...unless im misinformed on what you get, it seems like this deal, even at 30 bucks off, is a complete ripoff.

Don't wanna keep harping on this, and again, i could be totally wrong here and there is something more to it...but on the surface, the price point just doesn't sit right with me.

I totally agree with you on MS! I even think it´s worth more than its bucks

About SS, as I mentioned earlier, the arguments of both sides are valid.

And I don´think I´d have bought it if I didn´t get that juicy discount from the Leveragist. Yet after installing it and testing little, I´m convinced that the 66 bucks I paid are well invested, especially when considering the one-time fee, the multisite licence and the lifetime support!

  Very interesting thread and it is quite clear there are two camps when it comes to product value.
  
  Brian mentioned good clean code that is supported by the creator and others have made reference to cheaper timers just being a script that can often change through the cookies. There again SS is no more than a script I'm sure.
  
  I love Market Samurai and without doubt the guys behind it run a good, ethical business model . When I went to their promo for Scarcity Samurai I was expecting to see a top price of around $50 with a promo price well below that. I therefore feel the price is on the high side and personally will not be buying.
  
  Having looked at other alternatives (some shown in this thread) they will achieve what I need for a considerable lower price.

FYI everyone, I did end up buying Scarcity Samuai. I was able to confirm that it works as I stated above. (The countdown timer is kept consistent via the Email link and not by a cookie on the computer)

This makes for a more realistic overall marketing campaign.

It's the only plugin on the market that does this sort of scarcity in this manner.

That being said, I ALSO own this scarcity plugin as well which may be more suitable for your needs:

Correct. The software (for the evergreen part) doesn't use a cookie to track, it hardcodes the signup time with the database and embedded links in your email.

When the person clicks the link in the email, the TOKEN in the link tells the website how much time is remaining based on when the token was generated (i.e. when the person signed up)

They can access that link on any computer in the world, and the time wont change...the only way to "beat" the system would be to generate a new token (i.e. sign up again) and the average person won't think to do that (not to mention use a different email)

Most people will POSSIBLY try to access the link from a different computer / clear their cookies...and when that fails, will assume the timer is the actual timer for real...

Unless a friend signs up and tells them they have a different time remaining (then they might figure it out), but thats not a big concern really.

I am trying to understand this, So what you saying is, I signed up on a optin page and got a link to click, this link is attached (Hard coded in other words) to a timer and whenever I click on the same link again, It will show the same timer.

OK cool so far, Now you guys are saying if you clear cookies or check from another computer the timer will remain same since its attached to the token in the link.

Now, Since there is a token, there must be a long link. A token cannot be like www.site.com/subfolder , instead it has to be something like www.site.com/subfolder?XXXXXX or such way to give it a unique token in the url.

So someone who will try to verify the authenticity of the offer , Will really type that long URL in the browser ? Doesnt the long url say something here to him? Won't he try to omit those extra stuff from the URL and then see ?

Would like to hear from the one who bough.

I don't need yet another $17 piece of shit that sort of works now, works even less soon, and is abandoned shortly thereafter.

i guess it depends on what you mean by this...if it's simply a piece of code that does what it's supposed to do, it really shouldn't change...support can always be had by hiring programmers.

but i do see what you mean in that, in some cases its better to just pay more for somethign that you know works, and will work. i'm just wired a lil different ;-) i like to get value for my dollar.

We have used Market samurai in our business for years...
And they are still supporting us when we need it. and for our one time fee four years ago!!

I bet you all have spent hundreds, maybe even thousands on the $19 super duper get you rich product that does everthing but get you rich 😀

These guys know their business and they will with out doubt help yours!

Can't count how many cheap plugins/themes/apps/whatevers I've bought as a WSO that don't actually work... no support, no updates, no jack.

Agree with Brian (and FYI guys there's a discount currently on the plugin). Willing to pay a bit more for the knowledge that they will be there when I need them. They knew what they were doing when they started Market Samurai and because of this, I'm a serious Samurai groupie. Sometimes cheap really is more expensive long term.

Is Market Samurai value for your dollar Inferno? (I'm being serious here, not snarky - I really would like to know) I like a deal too, but then again, I won't shop at Wal-Mart either because I don't agree with the way they do business or treat their employees...but before I go on a rant, I'll just say that sometimes taking a breath and seeing whether or not whatever tool/service will provide long term value for your business and will help make you more money faster is the best option. Price is not the only consideration.

Yes, absolutely. MS is an excellent tool, and i had no problem paying for it.

Like I said, i'm a computer guy, and based on what im reading here, it just seems to be ridiculously overpriced. but, its their product, they can charge what they want ;-)

The robot one I posted above goes IN the page content where you choose.

The Samurai one is either a header or footer (but remains visible the whole time unlike the robot)

The actual sales page (a 97$ offer) includes a pro licence, that you can install in as many websites you want, yours and your clients too

Seriously, at the price, grab it now. Totally worth it. Since it's been released it's already had at least 3 updates. And hell, the Noble Samurai gang are always spot-on with quality.

I thought it might as well throw my two cents in here, I have owned market samurai for several years and the support, updates and overall quality of the program are all excellent. Contrast that with quite a few of the WS0s that I bought where the developer has disappeared, the website is gone, support and updates don't exist and neither does the money that came out of my pocket.

I have just started using scarcity samurai so I can't tell you what the results are but I can tell you that it is a quality plug-in. I've never been charged an annual fee and the one price I paid covers lifetime updates from a company that I am relatively sure will still be around in a few years.

  Really like the idea of the ''loop'' effect that this plugin could potentially have, especially since the non-buyers can still get a chance to express their interest via a waiting list. This in itself could work as a 'bankers' list with know buyers waiting to purchase.
  
  For sure some people may unintentionally miss the deadline and therefore it would act as a saving net against leaving money on the table.
  
  I am however a ''strike while the irons hot'' type of guy and therfore just how long after the miss deadline would you leave before representing the offer? Too soon and the customer may feel scammed, too long and the customer may lose interest?
  
  It also isn't however clear if there are templates included for the sign up or sorry pages or if it can work with other plugins that create sign up pages such as Optimizepress for example?

Hey Brian! Wasn't really referring to you specifically but saw a bunch of comments like that after my product was mentioned. I guess I was being a bit defensive

But you're right, and others are correct too. Problem is too many people are making software when they shouldn't and selling it for 10 bucks and then disappearing. No support, no updates, nothing. It's definitely worth it to buy good stuff and pay more for it. This is a reason why I often PREFER to pay monthly for software because I know I need it and know it will be supported and updated. By the way got your email, looking forward to the event!

Well I bought their story, bought their product, installed and configured it - and ONLY THEN is the kicker revealed ...

"You may still need to add the form to this page, or you may be using an email provider we do not yet support. We currently only support AWeber, Infusionsoft, and SendPepper. Coming soon: MailChimp"

THIS IS A DISGRACE ... I am with GetResponse which must be right up there alongside Aweber in terms of customer base. "SendPepper" what the hell is THAT?

I have asked for a refund - these lmitations should have been made CLEAR in the pre-sales stuff.

And more questions to the developer:

1) Does it allow to re-create a NEW scarcity track?

Meaning...

Visitor fill form first time and countdown starts behind-the-scenes > Visitor receives content on day 2 > Visitor receives countdown link on day 3...

BUT, the visitor still does not buy... is it possible to once again start a new countdown with these non-buyers later? Something like a "once again available for only the next 24 hours" type thing..?

2) Can it be manually triggered as opposed to form filling? People already have lists and dont want the subscribers to "fill a form to start the countdown".

1. I can't change the text next to the clock - I can only use the default.
2. If I am using SS then the exit redirect pop up in OP doesn't trigger, even though enabled. If I delete the SS it does trigger.

Just a thought for people sitting on the fence about Scarcity Samurai or Page Expiration Robot.

How your site, your traffic and your market responds to a scarcity tactic may vary - it might work, it might be less successful - hence the investment in SS or PER might be profitable - but you might want to test the concept first.

There are a few FREE WordPress plugins which do a similar things, like a Lite version, which does not do everything that SS or PER does, but can do a scarcity countdown ticker timer. I tested this using YITH TopBar Countdown at WordPress › YITH Topbar Countdown « WordPress Plugins

There are others and I have no affiliation with any of them.

The point being, for free, you can test if the concept of a scarcity countdown timer works with your site, your traffic and your product/market.

For instance, the YITH plugin I mentioned can only be triggered by a fixed date end, rather than X hours/days after first visit. Its a limitation, but I can manually set a fixed end date, and manually move that end date forward a couple of times, over a week or 2, while I test the results.

If it works with the free plugin version, you might have more confidence in the concept and then want to invest in the full 'all features' Scarcity Samurai or PER.

Scarcity Samurai seemed way overpriced to me when I received the marketing for it, but at least it got me thinking about scarcity marketing.

Now, I will go for Page Expiration Robot Pro instead. Looks great, Bill, and I'm looking forward to trying it out (glad I didn't fall for the scarcity marketing for scarcity samurai - seems like I would've paid four times as much as I will now!).

I love the Samurai guys, and bought Scarcity Samurai for my upcoming launch. The plugin slowed my page-load down to five seconds WITHOUT traffic. Regular page load is well under one second.

I have a support request in, and hope to hear back soon, but for now I've had to turn it off, and won't be using it for the launch.

I´ve been told per email that the Samurai dev support will be available again mid next week due to a long weekend holiday in Australia.

As I´ve had the same issue (among others) before, I though I would answer you, maybe this solves your problem.

After upgrading the php config in my c-panel to PHP 5.3. as the support guys suggested in one of their FB postings, the loading times became normal again.

One thing I´m experiencing after that upgrade, though, is that when I try to edit or save a post or page, I get a "502 Bad Gateway" and / or a " 324 net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE" errors sometimes.

I´m running WP on the genesis framework.

I use Page Expiration Robot PRO and love it...Realize there is a PER PLUS version that adds a few more things (e.g. HTML5 support)...I mention it because I was confused and thought I was purchasing the highest possible version available...With that said, PER PRO works great!

RE: Scarcity Samurai, I briefly tried SS sometime back and I honestly can't remember why I chose PER Plus over it (probably price, maybe because it's faster/easier to implement). As others have stated, I don't think the 2 plugins are mutually exclusively.

In fact, there is a killer deal right now...If you sign-up for Noble's Vidsy service ($25/month), you get the SS Pro (Unlimited websites) for FREEEEE! So, I'm going to sign-up for Vidsy (not sure if I'll even actually try it), and I'll be happy to have both SS (for only $25!!!) and PER Pro.

I'm using Scarcity Samurai. It is working fine. I had one tech issue which their support was quick to help with.

If you're worried about the price, first have a play with (free) YITH at
WordPress › YITH Topbar Countdown « WordPress Plugins - test how scarcity effects traffic in your industry.

If that proves effective, get the (much better) Scarcity Samurai.
