Covert Social Press wp theme

Hi guys,

I got an email from Paul Counts this morning telling me about Covert Social Press theme: Covert Social Press - Run Your Own Social Network On WordPress (not aff link).

Looks good to me but I'd like to see some reviews here before purchasing.

I'm also thinking if updating this theme by developers might be an issue later on since I don't really recognize them as wp theme experts.

Anybody tried it yet?

Any upsells?

I was looking for reviews first also but didn't find any, so I decided to purchase because I have a few domains that this would be perfect for.

There is a plugin upsell where you can enter your keywords and it will pull content and post for you automatically so that you don't have to do it. Obviously you will want your members to handle this but you aren't going to have any members when you start.

There are t other upsells but they are unrelated (other products they put out about membership sites and list building).

I'll try to get a site up and running today and I'll report back

This Theme is so popular on the net right now, It is being pushed by a lot of big name marketers I am on VERY MANY list and guys that have there own products are sending me their affiliate links -- I purchased it the first day at $27 I am going to install it on most of my blogs going forward. I don't think you will regret buying it, to me this is the future of wordpress themes.

        Hi guys

I bought this theme over a week ago and it is a great theme.

Just like a Digg site. Easy to install and set up.

I had a couple of questions for support and there response was quick and courteous which makes a nice change from some i could mention.

All in all if you are looking for this type of site then it is a no brainer.

        All the best

What about the photos this theme (or plugin) pulls for posts at the site? Would this be copyright infringement? I know that they give you the option of using a screenshot of the page hosting the article, but those don't look as impressive as the photos themselves.

Yes the theme is quite good....... I also purchased this under very special price from this WSO Thread at 60% Discount. I am not quite sure that this offer is still valid or not........ ?

The theme is great (I bought it) - did a couple of sites but I do worry about copyright infringement in the UK - it is such a difficult area and potentially expensive.

As long as you don't show the full story and have a link to the site where the story originated from then you are ok.

How about the photo question that I asked above? I'm not concerned with an article excerpt as that is valid, but not sure about featuring photos from the article.

Not sure about using just the image, but I would have thought it's ok as long as you have a link back to the original source.

Other people here should know about this, so you shouldn't remove it!

    Hi cindy,
There is no such FB ID option or FB ID required field in the Theme option. This is really getting stupid. I provided my WordPress details for you for a reason - to login and check it and fix it. That's the second time I've mentioned that. Further, I find it silly that I had to mention the other problem being this one, didn't you read the ticket? That's why I'm saying this is stupid!
And it's been over a week and you seem to think this is ok because you make no apologies for it, again. Why do issues and delays like this keep happening with this service? You seem to not care about this because this is the second time this has happened. Why don't you just login, have a look, and fix the problem instead of this writing back and forth about stuff like a FB ID requirement that is not even in the Theme Options, which you should already know about because you created it?
This is really silly, stupid and a waste of my time Cindy, I don't see why this should happen again and again and again. I did provide my details so you can login to check it out and fix it. And again I don't think anyone should go through this, which you aren't taking very seriously.
I'm going to let Athony Aires, Brad Gosse, and the Warrior Forum community know about this. I've invested in three of your products, provided my details so you can check it out and fix it. I have a business to run and I'm not happy about writing back and forth over stuff you should already know.
    I need this fixed!
    Thanks,

We are sorry you feel that way. We are trying our best to assist you as we have all your other tickets. I did login and saw that you have the Sneaky Like set to yes.

The Like is supposed to be a stealth one in the background (that's probably the single most powerful feature in this theme). The Like button will only work if you are logged into Facebook or have your login set to remember. If you are not logged in at FB then the pop up for logging in will appear.

As mentioned in the tutorial video, this is a sneaky like and the status won't show. For 90% of users this will work fine.

If you still experience problems, it could possibly be that you may have a plugin installed that could be in conflict with the Like button. You might need to disable any plugins you have one by one to determine which on could be causing the problem.

The Like button not the comments. I have said this numerous times already. The Like button.

    Copied and pasted from above:

    1. "What about the other problem "Also the Like button is diabled on posts and homepage"

All Likes are enabled or checked as Yes in the Theme Options, but when I click on the Like button it's not working."

    2. "There is no such FB ID option or FB ID required field in the Theme option."

When I click on the Like button it's not working, there's nothing popping up, i.e., the pop up for logging in is not appearing!"

And then you say something about comments rather then the issue of the Like button here:

"Per our programmer, comments have have been enabled, in settings->discussion they are set to enabled. But as the option says it only effects new posts. Any posts created when this option was disabled would not allow comments, only new posts created after this option is enabled will allow it"

Do you see why this is stupid?

"The issue is with the Like button not working not the comments. This is why I'm saying this is getting really stupid.

Please get this fixed for me and read the ticket properly."

I shouldn't have to repeat myself and copy and paste the above here for you.

    Alright all is resolved!

I unchecked the mark for the sneaky Like Button located in the Theme Options.

This was a bit confusing and yes you can click the Like Button and the Like will show up as a post on your Facebook - provided you're already logged in!

[You still have to log into Facebook to Like or use the Like button]

You could at least unchecked it for me and then explain it like:

Go to theme options > uncheck the sneaky like button. This will enable the pop up to show then you can login to facebook to like.

Or to use the sneaky Like button:

Go to theme options > check the sneaky like button. This will enable the Like button to work by automatically posting the like to facebook without the pop up showing or requesting you to login, because it is assumed you're already logged into your facebook, hence no need for the pop up and the login. In other words, if you're not logged into facebook and you click on the like button, it will not work.

Therefore, both options require you to log into facebook.

I did provide my details for you so you could have done this for me and the issue would have been resolved weeks ago.

I bought this early 2013, so its been about a year, i pretty much built a site and FORGOT all about it, yesterday I logged into that site's email and found I have people signing into my site everyday on the hour, its weird. Because i forgot all about this product I had to come here to refresh my memory on it. Great Buy! And love how it still is updating my 'forgotten' site with newsfeeds.

        Hi tollybear,
Thank you for this review. I was still debating and wondering if this plugin can function in a long term. If you can, please help me with these few questions:
1 - Did you buy the OTO?
2 - How big is the traffic you are receiving per month right now
3 -How did you monetize your site?
4 - About how many members are signing in every day?

Thanks a lot in advance for your help.

        Respectfully,
        Paul

I have had this theme for about 9 months. I also bougtht the Covert Social Content plugin, which I think is an absolute must. The Covert Social Content plugin pulls in news stories on autopilot so you can just set and forget.

That I did with this site Latest PS4 News, and the site is now doing quite well. It is now at around 400 visitors each day. It started slowly but built up over the months. when I started, the traffic was so small, I felt like abandoning it.

That I did until I realized that Google loved it and I was getting good SEO traffic. The traffic was not for the main keyword, but for the curated article keywords. It showed me that curation really works and I did not waste my money on this theme & plugin. what's more, I have a couple other related sites, so I just post my updates to Latest PS4 News for added exposure and backlinks.

I will be building more of these as it only takes a few hours work to setup and everything else is auto pilot traffic. It is a great source of backlinking, especially if your sites are on different iP's.

            A couple of quick questions:

            1. For the photos that are featured at your site, has anyone contacted you about pulling any down due to copyright infringement? I'm assuming that those photos are pulled from the original articles.

            2. It looks like you use Adsense at the site. Have you had any issues related to using that platform? I know that Adsense usually doesn't like this type of site, at least eventually. Also, any other types of advertising that you use other than Adsense?

            Thanks.

              1. No one has contacted me. They are getting a direct backlink straight to their site. My site just acts as a hub by giving one or 2 sentence 'teasers' to take them back to their site. This is added free traffic plus a backlink for them.

              2. The Adsense ads do not do too well, at least on my site because there is a high click through rate back to the curated site. However, I also use eBay Partner network & Amazon Associates. I use the new Publisher Studio feature from Amazon to input links into the popular posts. This is the most successful of the 3 monetization methods that I have tried.

Does anyone have a current active site that they would not mind sharing? I would also appreciate your thoughts on CSP.

                Thanks!

Hi Chris if you PM me I'll send you one of the domains I've got CSP running on.

I've tried quite a few of the Covert products over the last few years and I prefer the Viral Wizard theme or their Pin Press theme. They can both use auto posted content or you can add your own content.

The one thing I like about the CSP theme is the pop-under that can show any site or page you like. I'm sure people use this for CPA offers but I generally use to send to my own products or sites I'm trying to build up or send traffic to.
