Forthcoming Google-1st product

I don't typically get involved with new product release discussions, but there's a particular product coming out at the end of May (and now taking pre-orders) that I think merits at least a "heads up".

It's the new product by Michael Green called "Google-1st".

Let me say first of all that I do not have this product, nor have I been party to its contents. I also have no reason to believe that the product creator is not a fine, upstanding and ethical marketer.

However, I have seen the sales page and received a glowing testimonial via the newsletter of a well-respected marketer (and fellow Warrior) and I'm a bit uneasy.

The product, which is on pre-sale at $247, claims to be able to rank your keyword on the first page of Google within anytime between a few hours to a few weeks. It appears that this would be achieved by utilizing various Web 2.0 properties (amongst other methods). So far, so good. Nothing apparently revolutionary, but no harm there.

The problem, as I see it, is that all the marketing is focusing on the simple fact of getting first page rankings. Nowhere at all is it mentioned that a first page ranking is next to useless if there is little or no search traffic for your keyword. This may be obvious to most of us, but this product is geared towards the newbie, who may be seduced by the promise of a high ranking without fully comprehending that rather important caveat. In fact, I quote this from the sales page: "...and that's why when you get yourself high on Page #1 (and to a lesser extent Page #2), you're guaranteed to bring a torrent of visitors to your own website. It's simple, but incredibly effective."

Now that statement is just not accurate.

It's actually pretty easy for almost anyone to achieve a top ranking for a low search or relatively obscure keyword and I feel it's a bit disingenuous not to make a reference to this in the sales copy, considering the price of the product and its potential customer profile.

But maybe that's just me. Take a look at the page and see for yourself: Google-1st -- It's Time For You To Dominate The First Page Of Google Results! (not an affiliate link!)

And if you do decide to purchase, please make sure you understand that a first page ranking does not automatically translate to high traffic.

Best,

Frank

    "Search The Web"

Under the Google search bar.. I've never seen this under the search bar on Google.com and if it's any other country it will ask to either search within the country the google search engine is in or to "the web"

This may not be a descrepancy but i'm all ears.
I would be very surprised if the images weren't genuine. My concern is with the potentially misleading claims in the sales text.

I'm not going to discuss the author's private life here but I think I can guarantee to you that Michael has far too much to lose in the real world to risk it for the sake of a dodgy IM product. IM is only a sideline for him - though he makes much more money from it than I do ;-)

Thanks for taking my post in the spirit in which it was intended. Given your history in IM, I have no doubt that this product will deliver on its promises.

I just feel that high page rank needs to be paired with search volume in order to be truly meaningful and that potential purchasers ought to be aware of this essential correlation.

      Good luck with the launch.

PS It would be nice to see you post a bit more often, now that you've started.
