Martin Crumlish's Emperor Social?

by Melody

Surprised that no one has started a thread yet unless my search missed it - but wondering if anyone has bought it yet? High priced at $999 per year or $197 per month, but maybe worth it if it does all it claims?

Anyone that can actually comment as a user?

I just purchased a couple of hours ago and haven't had time to really dive into it, but looking at some of the pages created (the people in the Facebook group have been showing some examples they did in 5 minutes-ish), it seems to do what it says. Playing around on the inside and looking at the training materials, the interface seems easy to use and the training is great so far, but as I said, I haven't really had a chance to dive into it.

Just wondering what will happen when you stop paying the software. Who owns the fanpage?

I wonder the same thing. It is a valid question. If they own it and you have built several fan pages for customers, when you decide not to use the software anymore, what happens?

Reasons why I pulled out of ES:

                1. It's too expensive. As mentioned above, there are other services that offer almost the same thing for a fraction of the price.

                2. You get locked in to paying ad infinitum. If you build a number of pages for clients, you can't kill your membership without killing their pages. If you do an FB page with monthly management for a client - you could find yourself bound to maintaining that page at the risk of deleting their content and opening yourself up to legal action. I would rather not have a 3rd party calling the shots between my business and my clients content. I suspect this is part of the ES vendors business model.

                3. There has been loads of hoopla about Facebook marketing from the co-creators and affiliates of ES over the past 6 months or so. I was involved in some serious market research for a tech startup in 2012 that had govt funding and the results from that study showed that FB marketing results were disappointing. This is evidenced in the number of big brands who have pulled their big FB marketing budgets and put them into other online channels. It works for some but not for the vast majority.

                4. I would be very worried about Facebook making changes that could interfere with ES (eg the SSL cert issue etc). Different niche, but this has happened with Bandpage who had over 18M monthly users and about $18M in venture capital behind them. FB decided it looked like a good idea so they did it for themselves instead. They basically tweaked their system slightly and killed Bandpage over night.

                5. The management fees that are being thrown around by ES camp for managing FB pages as being realistic are over the top in my opinion. For a business owner to pay $350pm recurring for management of their page they would want to be making a significant ROI. It takes a very specific type of business and a near perfect storm scenario to go viral and become accepted by people in their timeline without having them hit the 'hide' or unlike buttons. People use Facebook for light hearted banter among friends and family - not to interact with brands. Not saying that FB marketing doesn't work - it's just not as easy as claimed. To get big fees you need LOTS of credibility, in my experience that kind of credibility comes from being a real marketing agency with a physical address, lots of staff and a list of high level brands as clients. It's nice to think that you can have a high chance of bagging big clients with nothing more than a wordpress site and an FB page but that's just not very realistic for the average person.

Anyway, it is a well built product - nice interface etc, but low on really "amazing features" in my opinion. You would want to be turning over a huge number of paid pages to justify not spending the extra hours building the pages yourself or using one of the other builders out there.

The real success story behind ES is the marketing campaign behind it - if you analyse that, the relationships that were made and the ecosystem of supporting products that were released before and during the launch you could learn a thing or two. Excellent marketing from Martin, he basically got the service built, primed and pre-sold a massive audience to a very high ticket price, organised the entire drip feed of add ons to keep users happy through the 30 day guarantee period adding value and driving momentum and effectively designed a business model for users (it remains to be seen how successful the average user will be though). Hats of to the ES crew for a very successful and ingenius marketing campaign.

Lot's of people won't agree with me but that's just by 2c's!

                  Hey JB,

you're summing up my feelings about Emperor Social nicely. It's a good product and works well - no problems here.

Easy drag & drop interface to build custom apps / tabs, coupons, opt-in pages, sweepstakes and like gates, all integrated. There is also a great tutorials section with PDF manuals and video walk throughs. I think it should be possible to start from scratch, build pages for offline clients, try to pitch them your services and make it work.

But, and that's also the part I don't like, you are locked in to paying for Emperor Social, to provide the service you are trying to sell to your client. That's either a hefty $197 a month or a stiff $997 a year. And you still need to worry about about reliability or higher prices in the future as everything is hosted with Emperor Social.

I also don't see getting the monthly fees that are pitched by the other members in the members area. Either they are very optimistic or I am targeting the wrong clients. But there is no way that I would be able to convince local restaurants or car dealerships to pay me 500 USD a month to maintain their Facebook tab. Even if it does include managing their email list *and* their Facebook account as a whole.

I find $97 a month might be pushing it already as most of the local business I deal with don't yet see the value in these kinds of offers.

And that's what it comes down to. Will I be able to find at least two clients that are willing to pay me $100 / month each to cover the base cost for Emperor Social? Do they get enough value out of this to stick with me?

On the other hand, you'd just need to find 4 clients that pay you $50 a month and then pitch them additional services (manage the email list, ad campaign, etc) to bring the monthly fee up and make it worth your while.

I still haven't decided what I am going to do, but I will check out the competing products that were mentioned in this thread (thanks!) because I do find ES a tad too pricey.

I have tried every fan page builder on the market and the only one that has ever been worth anything is Heyo. I am able to build pages so fast and so professional that I have been a customer of theirs for over 2 years and I have a lot of pages. The only thing that I don't like is that they don't have contest apps, coupon apps or any real apps that other companies charge monthly for. That's the first thing that peaked my interest about ES. It's like Heyo but with the apps and it's less than Heyo as well for the unlimited white label version.

I wrestled with the hosted solutions issue for a while and finally decided that these companies have spent a ton of money building software and building a business that they aren't just going to let it die. I look at it like hosting companies. I've been with the same hosting companies for years. They have thousands of clients and they aren't going to do anything to hurt that. They are getting a monthly revenue that they don't want to lose.

I keep a backup of all my images just in case something ever happened. It would be nightmare to recreate but it could be done.

I've been purchasing Martin's products since day 1 and he supports them all. The software is amazing and it's a smart tool he's built because just like hosting your clients won't leave you because it's to dang hard to move all your clients over if you have a ton of them.

So I have purchased ES and I also have Heyo. Personally ES does everything that Heyo does and more but moving hundreds of fan pages is a nightmare so I chalk it up to another tool and provide the things that Heyo doesn't like contests and coupons and hopefully some more killer apps.

They are all more expensive if you are comparing like for like.

heyo whitelabel (which is the like for like comparison) is $300+ per month. ShortStacks agency offering is about $3000 per year etc.

I am helping out Martin with this product and we actually debated long and hard over this. This is essentially a "no-win" situation because the pages
are actually hosted on our servers with our resources which is necessary
for us to be able to provide this as a "turnkey service" (or else you are configuring SSL certs etc...)

So that is one indefinite resource. Then in order to manage the pages you would require our software to do so. And in using our software etc..
it costs us money an resources. Not to mention keeping up to date with
            the latest facebook terms.

The bottom line is that if you are earning money using this, then this is a no-brainer. Go ahead and look at our closet competition who charges $399 a month and doesn't even offer as much. Please note that ES offers UNLIMITED PAGES. this is a key point to analyze when deciding to join ES. There are no "page limits" and no hidden overage charges. It is an all you can eat buffet.

This is a real business tool, not the "hot shit of the day" So when you approach it, treat it as such and enter into it with a long term understanding.

I hope that explains it well

              Hi Greg,

              You did explain it well.
I see now that it does take a lot behind the scenes.

I asked an affiliate about the payment plan.(they never responded back)
If i tried it out for a couple of months at the payment plan and stayed on,
can i purchased it at the yearly amount or
does it stay at the monthly amount if chosen that way?

              Thanks
              Marty

              Sorry;

                Hi Marty

You can always upgrade from the monthly to the yearly, but it will be at whatever is the current price is for the yearly license at that time. So when we raise the yearly price and you upgrade from monthly then, you will pay the current price, whereas if you lock in now, you lock in for life at the price you start with

                Does that answer your questions?

Hi Greg!! I'm a bit confused. This product was promoted to me via email as something that will help rank my products in Clickbank.?.?

Is this the targeted use for the product? WIll it work for SEO? Also, must we drive paid traffic to these FB pages to get it to work most effectively?

Lastly, how will these pages (or system) effect my rankings in Clickbank or in search?

                  Thanks!

For me the price is too high and i think that's the case for many people here, also when i see a launch go from a high payment to a payment plan means to that it is not generating the sales so a monthly option is added but i feel that you are taking the mickey with it because you are basically saying because you can't afford $997. you can pay $197 a month instead, talk about kicking people when they’re down as they have already decided that they can't afford the high price but now they get tied to a monthly payment which equates to a yearly fee of $2364. Not such a good deal when you see it like that.

There was a thread started on this, one post and looked like it got deleted by moderators or moved somewhere. Thanks for the new thread and the information on it.

      I have a couple questions(found answers):

      1. In one of the videos(affiliate video I think) there was a mention of the length of time the program would be open to purchase. Will this program be taken off the market when a sales target is hit?

      Answer: Closes May 20th

      2. Is FB Red available with the monthly subscribers?

Answers: FB Red appears to be only available to Yearly Subscirbers

I see huge potential with emperor social in the MMO/IM arena.

      Thanks for your time
