What Project Management Software

I have really ramped up the number of projects I am working on for both myself and my clients.

For some time I have used Gqueues, and I love the simple interface, but there is no time tracking.

What project management software have other Warriors found to be useful? I don't mind paying a reasonable monthly fee for the right one.

Thanks,

Workflowy is actually an outlining program, not a project management system. It is a good outlining program but lacks project management features like time tracking, scheduling, assigning tasks etc.

I've used BaseCamp HQ for a couple of years and love
everything about it except that it doesn't let you control
the level of access to project details based upon roles the
person is... so you end up creating a separate project
just to coordinate with say your graphics artist or
copywriter, so that you don't give them access to all aspects
    of a large project.

Willie, I used to use BaseCamp years ago when it was called "Intranets." Back then, I loved the interface. But, when I tried it out now, the interface is dumbed down so much as to hurt its usefullness.

Good point about the level of access control. I will add that to the features I am looking for and check it in the software I am testing.

euraffiliates Workflowy is very nice but not a project management system.
its an outlining program for lists etc.
Another project management that is also free is trello

    Thanks attan.

But trello does not seem to be a project management system. I am looking for a free project management system to manage software projects that we undertake from our worldwide clients. I want option for PMs, developers, clients to log-in and make their inputs in the system. Different people will have different access levels to different resources.

    Check out http://wp-client.com/

You can use this wordpress plugin on your own business domain which looks really professional. It's got loads of features including access levels, billing, file sharing, upload/download areas, staff accounts, private messaging which can be logged and recorded for the record etc. Too many features to list here.

Definitely worth a look. I've used Basecamp but found it a bit inflexible. The thing I didn't like most was that sometimes you can end up with really long linear threads which can make it difficult to find critical pieces of information - this can easily happen when you have a lot of projects on the go. We are putting wp-client in place on a test site to manage a couple of projects to start, if it works as it looks like it should then it will become our project management tool. The coolest thing is that clients login from our own domain, this helps to keep our brand front and center throughout the process.

BTW - I am not an affiliate or owner of the software just in case you were wondering.

Thanks. How is Basecamp? Is it totally free or shareware? do you manage web projects with it?

Wp-client: Does it allow project management of all sorts of projects or only WP projects?

Basecamp costs something like $50 per month (at least that's what it cost me based on the number of projects I had).
WP-client is client management and project management software, it can be used for anything that involves you, a project and a client.

TeamworkPM is the best project management software I have encountered. I tried them all. Basecamp was my second choice, but they didn't allow enough privacy. There is only one issue with TeamWorkPM on my end, and that is that I wanted to make the list of team members private and was unable to do so. But each item can be made private or made so only a certain person can see it. Their website is .net, not .com

      Thanks Bizq,

In the end, TeamworkPM is the one I went with. Very clean interface, simple timing and the pricing structure makes sense.

I will be teaching my clients how to use TeamworkPM to manage their projects as well.

    Hey richwriter,

Thanks for chiming in. I did look at Smartsheet and liked it a lot but there was one feature it was lacking that I needed. I think it was time tracking. Other than that it looked like a very cool project.

    Very pleased with my choice.
