Got A Paypal Alternative?

Hi Warriors,

Are you using any other payment processor other than Paypal?

I'm contemplating to "diversify" my payment collection with 2CheckOut. Is it good? (Other than the higher in fees as compared to Paypal)

How many payment processor(s) are you using?

Well, Paypal is the dominating player right now William, however you can also try Google Checkout, I think they give you some money back on Adwords if you use them, worth the check.

Hi jeremiasmunn, I've signed up Google Checkout but it doesn't seems to be available here in Singapore though.

Authorize.NET seems too expensive. Would prefer one without monthly maintenance fee like 2CheckOut though it got its fair share of negative reviews. Any warrior a merchant of 2CO?

    Of course PayPal!

You may consider Moneybookers.com - Send Money - Receive Money - Online Payments - Money Transfers. It accepts payment through both credit card and the payment email such as PayPal.

2checkout has high fees on a per transaction basis compared to paypal. Authorize.net is good if you have a higher volume. Authorize.net is also very customizeable regarding fraud. Paypal accepts virtually every credit card, but with authorize.net you can make sure that the CVV2 code is inserted correctly and that the address is the same. Paypal doesn't have those options.

I have heard great things about Plimus, but have never used them. You can accept paypal with them as well.

buy 2co many marketers will say their fraud protection isn't good at all.
Paypal is the one to go or you can try alertpay or moneybookers.

Today I accidentally typed paypay instead of paypal and www.paypay.com came up looks interesting. Never heard of them but research shows they are not new.

I've used Google Checkout in the past and didn't have any problems. Are you sure it's not available in Singapore? I was in Manila when I made a purchase via Google Checkout and it went through. It should be available in your territory.

I'm sure Moneybookers has improved since then, but it took me over 4 months to move some money from a UK account to one in Kenya. PayPal is fine if you live in one of a handful of countries. It might be 'available' in a country, but that doesn't mean you can withdraw money to your bank a/c there. Watch out for holdbacks to cover potential chargebacks. Anybody tried charge.com?

After reading about a million Paypal horror stories I shy away from them. Sure, when I get my website up and running they'll be an option, but I definitely would not put all my eggs in their basket.

I like Alertpay. They're pretty much like Paypal, pretty new, so far so good.

Exactly, somehow I do not feel like relying only on Paypal and would want to explore if there is other good alternatives I can use.

Authorize.net is out due to its maintenance fees and my volume doesn't substantiate it. So far, the list for consideration :

      - Moneybooker
      - 2CheckOut
      - AlertPay
      - Google Checkout
      - Paypay

I've checked out AlertPay, Credit Card spend mode is not avail in Singapore. Hence, this is out. Have used Moneybooker before but doesn't quite favour the system. Paypay .. hmm. Google Checkout ... seriously, is it avail in Singapore? (I'll pop this query in the Singapore Warrior Group).

It seems I'm left with 2Checkout?

I use Alertpay and have never had any problems with them for accepting payments. I tried setting up subscriptions with them that didn't work too well, but for normal payments they are good.

As I believe you're in Singapore..
If this is the case, you've the same problem of mine, I've been searching now for weeks to find a solution :

-First, Authorize.net is GREAT, just if it was available for us!!, you can't get an Authorize.net account if you're outside U.S.

-Moneybookers? I don't know but I came across them years ago and found their services amateur, did them improve it?

-I heard good feedback about Plimus, but still trying to figure them out.

I don't know why you don't want to use PayPal, if you can sign up for a business account (not sure if it's available in Singapore or not), you don't need to search further, go with PayPal, otherwise, check Plimus and 2 checkout, Plimus also give you the option to hire affiliates for your products.

While so many buyers are still using Paypal, i would NOT put all my eggs in their basket as I said before.

People getting ripped off, accounts frozen, and businesses halted because of Paypal's random and unjustified practices. Fortunately I'm not a statistic (knock on wood) but I'd rather not have my entire business ruined just because of a payment processor. Better to have multiple anyway - that way if one defaults, you'll at least have others working fine (and still have money in the bank).

I'm not here to defend PayPal, they have their faults, but I think this site contains very unfair opinions about PayPal, I've got problems with them before and I talked to them on phone, and their customer service was awesome, may be it took a little bit long to solve the problems but every time my complaints are being held to my satisfaction, it happened 2 or 3 times in 3 years, and I think this is a very good rate in comparison to what you got with a merchant account, I heard terrible stories about merchant accounts too..

Anyways, I don't feel comfort towards this site, attacking PayPal

this hard way to promote a competitive service??!!!!
          I can't swallow this...

Paypal used to hide their phone # to "save costs". I'm sure that not every single story is valid, but it is something to be aware of. "Paypal sucks" gets over 50,000 Google search results. Even though this is not a very big deal by comparison, I requested a check from them that I never got. Of course, it IS possible that the U.S. Postal Service is to blame for that, but I never heard heads or tails about it when I asked. Thankfully, that check was only 20 bucks.

I used 2Checkout, paypal, clickbank and plimus.

If you want someone other than paypal then plimus is really good.

    I wouldn't use 2Checkout

Lots of people don't like PayPal because of their erratic behavior. Paypal can freeze your account without any explanation and you will lose a lot of money.

However, I can confidently tell you all that there is no one single merchant that is perfect. So, you just have to make do with any merchant that soothes you and tolerate their weaknesses.
