What hosting company would you recommend?

I've received reports and info products from Mike Filsaime in which he states that GoDaddy is quick to shut you down with even the slightest accusation of spam, without even investigating.

He also said, the reports, that if you buy your URL from GoDaddy they are likely to freeze it.

I've been transferring the URLs that I purchased from GoDaddy so they will all be renewed elsewhere.

It hasn't happened to me, but I don't want to risk it.

I really like Kiosk - it seemed a bit complex at first to set up each domain. What I really like about it is that every domain has a separate cpanel with separate login. You can work on one of your domains without having to worry about deleting everything in one fell swoop. (have to admin I am a bit of a klutz on the keyboard.

I use Hostgator with a reseller account. I'm fairly new at this and only have a few sites, but the aluminum account is $24.95/month and allows you to set up accounts for each site, which means that each one has a separate cPanel, and you do not have to have add-on domains.

I find that a lot of marketers recommend Hostgator.

For registrations, I use Name.com, which gives private registration for free. Godaddy charges for that.

Definitely HASTYHOST - affordable web hosting | shared, reseller, and vps. Fast response time, easy to use, 15.95 for a reseller account and they always let you know regarding upgrades or issues. So far, I've had not a lick ot trouble with them and have been using them since October.

Godaddy sucks yet cheap!

I use HostGator for all of my sites and I've never had any problems with them. I started out with shared hosting with them and now I have a reseller server account with them.

I buy my domains at GoDaddy (using a promotional code from FatWallet) but host everything at 1and1 ... I think their prices are good and the support has been superb. I particulary like how fast my sites load.

DO NOT host with GoDaddy. I sell a lot of websites so I get the chance to interact with a lot of different hosts, installing sites, uploading files and setting up databases. GoDaddy has the worst speed, the worst control panel, the worst features, and the worst everything in general. They even charge for access to the kind of webstats every other host provides free. When I install sites for people on GoDaddy, I have to employ special scripts and methods, because regular things like importing to a database just times out on GoDaddy. As a domain registrar, yeah they're all good because that's what they do. But for hosting, you need someone whose primary focus is their hosting.

BlueHost are not too bad, but they're not too great either. Everything at least works with them, nothing times out and their features are not too bad. I wouldn't say don't go with them, but nothing leaps out as being great about them either.

In my experience, the number one inexpensive host is Hostgator by a long long shot. Their speed is great. Nothing ever times out or fails. The features are great. The specs of their service support virtually anything you could want to run. They have the latest PHP, they have cURL support, ionCube loaders, SSL certificates - the works. Their live chat support is fast and helpful. And, even with all that, they are so cheap! I mean, one cent for the first month (with the ever present always googleable coupons) and then only ten bucks for a heap of space & bandwidth is pretty hard to compete with.

And that's a clue right there. Hostgator can give 1 cent for the first month, and can afford to pay affiliates anywhere from $50 to $125 per individual signup, even if it's just to a $10 a month plan. They couldn't possibly do this without going broke if they weren't retaining a lot of customers long term. This is a strong indicator of the kind of service they offer.

In a nutshell, don't touch GoDaddy for hosting EVER. BlueHost are okaaay. Hostgator, my clear preference and recommendation.

You might want to check Host4Profit.

You'll have free access to tons of video training about how to set up & use stuff online as well as many bonuses. Worth checking.

Host Gator (Reseller) and Name Cheap for me mostly. I also use 1And1 and Total Choice Hosting. Avoid GlobAt.

I'd vote for Justhost personally.

For VPS or Dedicated, Liquid Web is as good as they get- and they respond to support tickets in minutes.

for the Shared services, I like Site5 because they give MultiAdmin control on my domains (meaning that all my domains are NOT a subdomain of my main one and each has its own cPanel)

currently using 1 and 1. So far so good...

But will change if I can find better

For hosting - definitely HostGator
For Registrar - Dynadot. Great service, prices and they even sell IDN's in almost every language

Hostgator and 1 and 1 for domains. Found Hostgator's registry rocket didn't have automatic domain renewal (that might have changed now?)

Bluehost is great if you don't have a ton of high traffic sites...

I can always get in touch with support in no time at all, they're always helpful and kind. And you can buy domains right there unlike hostgator. (I think)

And it has 1 click Wordpress installation which is great when you have a ton of Wordpress blogs like I do.

Hostgator and Namecheap....... a combination that's hard to beat in my humble opinion-

i like hostgator and i hav never occur any problem . i m fully satisfied customer of hostgator.

I've heard nothing but good things about Host Gator plan on making the switch very soon..currently use godaddy and mediatemple..

hostmonster is good aswell. You can get cheap deals at $3.95 per month (min 3 years though)

I'm surprised no one has mentioned WebHostingPad. They're relatively new (a couple of years old) and they offer everything everyone else is offering and then some.

I made a technical support call on a Friday afternoon and was talking to an English-speaking native in Chicago in 22 seconds. I called the next day, Saturday, and had to wait almost 30 minutes, but they know what they're doing. I recommend them from personal experience.

I also have a LunarPages account and they're okay. I expect more for what I paid. I've used Lypha but closed the account within 30 days due to slooooow tech support. Don't go with GoDaddy for hosting! Good luck.

Bluehost or hostgator

I guess it might help to have someone actually mention why they do or do not like the particular companies. I tried GoDaddy because I figured they would be around a while and I had been getting my domains there for years. I was moving from setupsite which was not a good experience. It seemed they had one person on staff for support and they took forever to take care of problems. GoDaddy simply did not give us enough control over our database. Canceled the hosting (no problem with getting my money back - thats a plus). I then moved to IXwebhosting.com. They are cheap. I dont know of a less expensive host and you get 5 separate sites with the plan we have. You also get two free domain registrations and lots and lots of space. Unfortunately with some of our sites their email is not acceptable so we moved those sites to crystaltech. More expensive but a solid host when you have to be up. Now? we have sites accross ixwebhosting and crystaltech. Happy with both.

I just use Da web host and it's great for me. Always working fine and using it for 2 years now plus its affordable as well so i never used any others as of now

Definitely hostgator. Love their customer support and very reliable.

Godaddy for domain registrations and Blue Host for hosting works for me

PowWeb is very inexpensive with decent CS. I have used them for a year and the customer support is relatively good. No upsell, just solid. Month-to-month is about $4.50 and 2 year sign-up is under $4 a month with unlimited domains and up to 75 mySQL databases, AdSense credits like the others offer. At first it was overseas customer service with some difficulties, but about 6 months ago this cleared up and communication is fine. It's worth looking at.

Any recommends for best dedicated server hosting???

Here is my experience and I've hosted with a lot of places over the last 9 or so years:

Hostgator: Seems OK but they have an inode limitation on their 'unlimited' plan. IF you go over their inode limitation they will not back up your site. An inode is a file and wordpress, joomla, etc.. has a lot of files.

Bluehost / Hostmonster: Sister companies. I was with them for a couple years and found that they really oversold their servers. You can see how many other sites on your server (or, more technically share your IP) by going here: myIPneighbors.com Reverse IP Lookup & Domain Check DNS Tool

HostNine.com: Great for resellers! They have a number of server in various locations throughout the world you can choose to put your site. This is great because each location and each node on each location has a different IP. If your linking from blog to blog, this is very helpful. Support for me was great, although you can definitely tell when a new guy is brought on.

Godaddy: No. Decent for domains, no good for hosting.

This is just my experience. I used a lot of smaller hosts, but these are the main ones.

GVO is about to be the name for hosting that was Kiosk.

They have a Titanium package that has Reseller CPanel Hosting, Aweber-like Autoresponder, Video producing tools and hosting for the Videos, a 10-Seat Conference Room and more.

I use GoDaddy and ENameCo for a registrar and HIGHLY recommend HostMySite (which just bought Hosting.com) as a web host.

I use lunarpages for more than two years and it works well for me. It's simple to use and the support is good.

I've been using 1and1 for domains, and I've reconmmended them for a while because they have an affiliate program. I'm not really satisfied with them...so I think I'm going to stop using and recommending them.

I am using Hostgator reseller acct. everything goes smoothly the thing is they suspended my high traffic website under my own WHM account without any warning and tried upselling me an upgrade for a dedicated server. I like their service BUT I don't like their approach.

Hostgator's IP pools has been heavily slammed (read, banned and flagged by many services) - and they wont change your IP on shared accounts. Guess that what happens when you offer 1 cent hosting.

for shared, hostmonster/bluehost supergreen/justhost or even Site5 are pretty darn good. for dedicated/vps try liquid web.

I've been with Hostgator and many of my clients are too.

For domains I used domainhostess, which is an Australian company. Cheap as anything

Hostgator WAS fine until we had a billing issue. The site has now been down for over 4 days while we've jumped through hoop after hoop that they have put us through.

Every time we have complied with their requests - they have told us we have to do something else.

I'll say this - they have been great - for a year. Technical Support staff is good and responsive and knowledgeable.

But just PRAY you don't have a billing issue or you can just kiss it all goodbye.

I got online about a year ago was not even sure what hosting was but I knew I needed it. I settled on a hosting company name Knownhost and utilize a Plesk panel. Not knowing a whole lot right from the beginning their customer support was very quick to respond to my inquiries and questions from FTP to reinstalling my whole system after I accidently wiped out some important files. For my money they are terrific.

I have been using bluehost for 3 years and have not had any problem with them. The support is helpful and, for me, only 1 time zone away.
I have tried GoDaddy and 1 and 1 and found that the cPanel user interface is straight forward and uncomplicated. Thats why I have stuck with bluehost.

I have read through all the replies and it seems that there is a lot of good suggestions for good reasons. It really depends on what fits you best and what meets your specific needs.

Hosgator leads the way. I also vote it and I think it is more trusted by many. I've been using this for a year and I never encounter any problems with it.

Hostgator is extremely reliable and very quick to respond whenever I had a problem, particularly when I first started out online a couple years ago.

For domain name registration, it doesn't really matter. However I now use Namecheap as they are cheap (you can Google "promo code" for a discount) and best of all they have been offering free privacy protection (you're details are not shown on whois).

I really like Lunarpages! I have been with them for years and their uptime and support are outstanding!

although hostgator is the most popular here, i'm using bluehost. so far i'm satisfied with the hosting.

I host all my sites on HostGator and register my domains through Namecheap. Love them both!

I'm a "if ain't broke, don't change it" kind of guy, that's why I love these two companies.

We use Dreamhost. Their customer service is really professional and personal.

No doubt, Hostgator is the most popular and reliable.

Im surprised no one has mentioned this host before, so hopefully I can turn everyone on to another good choice.

I tend to spread my sites around, but I've used BargainVault with a couple fo sites for 3 years with excellent results. And they are incredible inexpensive - $.99/month for 500GB of bandwidth. And their reseller package is only $5.00/month. They have all the features - PHP, AWStats, cPanel, FAntastico, etc. I've never had a performance problem.

They have always been responsive, but their support is email only. So if you need a lot of hand-holding, they might not be the best choice. But if yopu're looking for the most features at minimal cost, they rock !

HostGator has provided an excellent hosting service for my sites, I am very happy with them.

Most of my marketer friends used HostGator until I showed them HostMonster.

HostMonster has unmatched customer service!

I called them at 3AM for a project I was working on, and their Tech Support team was extremely knowledgeable.

Their features and pricing is great!

For domain registration I use GoDaddy and NameCheap, but I am moving away from GoDaddy. No technical problems with them, but their customer support is lazy and lacking knowledge. Also, NameCheap gives free privacy.

Hosting, I use HostGator, KnownHost, Blue Host and Arvixe

Whatever you do, avoid 1and1 for any service. They are horrible in hosting and domain regsistration. Bad customer service, horrible control panel and nearly impossible to stop rebilling.

Hostgator have been great for us. Whenever we've needed guidance a quick phone call has always got things sorted. Haven't tried any other service and as things stand not likely to.

I would recommend the best hosting company you can find that is located outside of North America. I am saying this for safety reasons.

I use ResellerZoom because I own multiple domains and plan on flipping some of them in the future. I have a lot more control over the domains with a proper reseller account. They have great plans at great prices, and they are all fully upgradeable. Technical Support are fast and really helpful...I rate them 9/10

I have finally settled down with hostgator, they are fantastic, I do not have many problems but when I have they were sorted out super fast, the quickest resolution so far has been 15 minutes in total. Just love the fact that they keep everything simple and let me get on without putting hurdles in the way.

I hope 1&1 have sorted themselves out as during time I was with them it was horrendous, their faqs prior to sign up would illustrate the features forgetting to mention that these features were only available with certain membership levels, I think I had to rise up 3 levels before I got most of the features they had promised on their sales page, tough time and glad when I escaped.

The other I have tried is Hostazar and with this unless you are clinically insane, do not go anywhere near. I have been trying to cancel my account for 6 months, their customer service is appalling, in fact on the 1st of October I am going to take legal advice on the matter!

I suggest keeping your hosting and your domain registrar separate. I used to use bluehost but someone broke into one of my sites once and bluehost warned me that i needed to correct it in 3 days, then shut down my huge site the next day without warning. I told the story to hostgator and they said if someone broke into my site they would help me correct the problem rather than shutting me down. I have been with them ever since and have a few multiple website accounts with them. There service is very prompt and helpful, unlike other experiences i have encountered.

I have used Hostgator hsoting for over a year now never have had any problems. The support chat is top notch, when you need to get some additional informantion.
Also started to use GVO hosting what isnt bad either.

For domains i use mostly Godaddy, but have heard nearlyfreespeeh.com offers .com domains for 8.99$.
Namecheap - 9,98$, Hostgator 15$, Godaddy 11.14$. Only with Godaddy you can use some coupons to get some discount on the domain purches.

Im fairly new to IM and have found Hostgator to be very helpful and easy to get the hang of.

I would highly recommend HostGator if you want shared hosting. If you need VPS or dedicated, I would not look anywhere other than at WiredTree. We've had quite a few servers with them over the last 2 years, and they have been truly fantastic.

In all sincerity Hostgator has been great, with superb customer services cost effective, and 100% up-time. I recommend their services. As for domain registrar I have using Namecheap without much ado.

Hostgator is my vote, the customer support is really friendly, and instant! Cheap too. I have a shared hosting account so I couldn't really give my opinion on servers or virtual servers.
