dollarseohosting.com Are they any good?

I struggle finding good hosting and am very hesitant to trust a site like this as even the name stinks of cheapness. Anyone ever used dollarseohosting.com and if so, are they good? Here is what I would consider a good hosting company:

1. At least 99% uptime. This needs to be an honest uptime not just another hosting company saying they are.
2. Customer service. Things happen, but are they accessible, easy to work with, etc....?
3. Are they fast enough? I don't need them to be the fastest host out there, but my sites need to load that's for sure!

Thanks in advance for all the help Warrior members!

dollarseohosting.com is BY FAR the worst host I've dealt with. There was downtime EVERY SINGLE DAY. When the sites were up they were extremely slow.

They didn't (maybe still don't) have any form of live support. Sometimes, I would receive replies to support tickets within a day (never fixed the problems), but other times they would NEVER respond. When they did respond there were times their replies were very rude. Avoid them at all costs!

I would give Bluehost or Hostmonster a shot (same company). There are some decent discounts floating around. I've had several shared plans with them throughout the years, and they were decent. I did have one incident with Bluehost around 6 months ago with a server that was really slow. They refused to migrate my account, but the server did speed up around 1 month later!

Thanks for the detailed response. I would love to hear from others as well. I've used Hawkhost and have been very happy with them. They are a fair price, but I couldn't resist asking with the low price. Sometimes cheap really just costs us money in the long run though

    Don't use
    - Godaddy
    - Yahoo
    - 1&1
    - Dreamhost
    - the 50+ EIG brands, including Hostgator, Bluehost, Justhost, iPage, Fatcow, and a crapload others.

Stablehost, Arvixe and Hawkhost are three of the best budget hosts for under $5/monthly.

Many of my past posts at WF have gone into more detail. Search for them. After reading those, if you have more questions, ask.

Those two sentences contradict each other...

Classful routing hasn't existed since the early 90's, 1992 I believe. Therefor, ANY company selling you "classed IP's" is selling you a bunch of B/S. Aside from that, IP's have absolutely ZERO to do with SEO - yes, yes, I know the SEO experts will tell you otherwise however, when IPV6 is standard, it'll sound even more ridiculous. If you're trying to "hide/mask" your sites from the search engines, IP addresses should hardly be your first concern.

What is it that you're looking for? Are looking for a good quality web host that you can rely on or are you looking for magical hosting that claims to be SEO specific? Pretty much, the only relation web hosting has to SEO is in the form of uptime & performance.

Choose your web host wisely, your website viewers or customers will thank you in the long run.

I can't say anything about the mentioned company but I'd advise you to use a time-tested companies like a2hosting, godaddy and rivalhost.
They know their work very well and prices are competitive.

99% uptime means that your website is down in average 14 minutes every day. I believe almost every web hosting company has better uptime. Most web hosting companies promise 99.9% or 99.99% uptime which is solid. Another thing is the promise vs. the reality.

Fortunately, there are some third party services which make independent uptime monitoring and the data are publicly accessible. So you can simply google for "company name + uptime" and you should to find some stats.

I have never heard of them, but then who can tell? They may be the best or the worst. So many of these hosting firms springing up, hard to know which is good and which is bad – definitely can’t trust the reviews online.

Hawkhost and Stablehost are highly recommended for shared hosting. BuyVM is good if you are looking for cheap vps hosting. You can do all your research on WebHostingTalk.

    My Honest Dollarseohosting Review

Support is pretty much non existent, taking days to get even simple things done, hours between replies like "are you still experiencing problems" and when i reply, it takes a whole day to get another 1 liner reply. so i had no choice but to vent it out here.

    Pros:
    price - 1$ per c class ip

    Cons:
    1. Slow server - been tested from UK vps, French vps and German VPS , all showing slow sever speed (keep in mind that dollarseohosting.com itself is hosted at a diffrent sever, so speed test of that domain will show diffrent speed results)

    2. Sites got hacked twice, they were proctected with Better wordpress security, 100 strength passwords (unique on each site). other clients got hacked as well, which means poor server security, the owner even stated that they now got a new server mangment company to "harden the security of the servers" which means before it wasn't secured.

    3. Slick pre sales talk, not backed up by truth.
    pre sales line example:
"We are sincerely trying to provide high quality SEO hosting for just $1/c class IP. We are in no way shortchanging you in either security or service."
    Truth:
"You sound like an American, you want to service and quality, but don't want to pay much for it"

    Bottom line:

if you don't mind slow support, and restoring (you must have backups on your local machine) your sites at least once a month. then you can go ahead and use dollarseohosting.com

but if you want to set it up all once, and then move to work on other things, then i would think twice before trying to save a 1$ and pay for it with your valuable time.

    Disclaimer:
This review is based on my personal experience and i got screen caps to backup everything that i have wrote in this dollar seo hosting review

That's not a great hosts, no.

But this item probably isn't their fault. That plugin is crap, and jsut does a few puny things to htaccess. It's not even close to securing a site. Even a harden server has to let port 80 traffic pass, and a vulnerable script simply can't be protected. The server admin can do what he can, yes --- and this host probably has crappy admin, yes -- but the site owner is almost always the weak link here.

That'll happen at pretty much any host.

I disagree, i have lots of sites spread over a few hosts, 90% run wordpress, and it's was the first (hacked twice on the same server) time any of my sites ever got hacked, everything starts with server security, then when the server is fully secured, it goes to the site owner, if it was that easy to hack wordpress (with no bad/outdated/nulled plugins or themes) on secured servers then most of the wordpress sites around would have been hacked.

i have around 50 wordpress "money" sites at another host for the last 2 years, no security plugins at all, didn't do anything to "secure" wordpress, and i have yet to be hacked.

99% of the time a plugin or theme is the culprit for Wordpress sites being compromised.

You'd be surprised at the amount of compromised sites that don't show signs of being compromised, even on properly hardened servers.

Most "security" plugins are mere band-aids attempting to mask security holes..

I'm sorry, but you're just wrong.

Saying "it happened at X and not Y means X = bad" is logical fallacy. You're essentially guessing hastily, and placing blame wrongfully. That was likely coincidence. If it was another host, I'm sure you say they sucked too.

Security has NOTHING to do with how updated things are. Most updates are for features, not security. Most security MUST be done on the account. WP couldn't do it if they wanted, anymore than the server admin (host). This is why WordPress is not an install-(and update)-and-forget code base. It needs hardening on the server.

Server security has little to nothing to do with WordPress security. That's for the server -- not the site. At best, a server can run mod_sec to thwart common attacks. But a gaping WP hole isn't something the server admin can stop.

No security isn't something to brag about.

Not hacked "yet" -- keyword = yet.

Do what you want, but I'm warning you that it will happen again, unless you either (A) hire a dev, (B) use a host that does this, (C) or learn to do it yourself.

Oh ya, I forgot to mention the whole "ALL OF MY SITES GOT HACKED", on dollarseohosting. Once I saw what ThunderC wrote it came back clear as day. As ThunderC mentioned, the only sites that got hacked were on dollarseohosting.com, and it happend within one day. I know that if you are using addon domains in a shared hosting environment if one site gets compromised the hacker can usually get to the other sites on your account, but why were all the sites on dallarseohosting (with separate C-Panels) compromised within one day?

I too have MANY other sites on MANY different hosts, and none of them were hacked. I transferred backups of my hacked sites to new hosts, and they didn't get hacked, so obviously something is not right with dollarseohosting.

Many of us in the industry have watched this trend and it's B/S over the past decade when it comes to "seo hosting"..... 99% of the internet is based on shared "name based" hosting.

There's nothing "SEO" about hosting or IP addresses.

People don't understand what the "techie mumbo jumbo" does, so they invent things in their head. SEO is SEO, IP addresses are just IP addresses. Nary do they meet!

720 hours in a month... do the math.
thats 3.6 hrs down in the worst case scenario.

          or 7.2 minutes per day.

Nightly reboot takes about 3 to 5 minutes. So its not so bad as you make it sound.

That's an identical amount of time. Why would you need to reboot every server nightly, anyway? I've had servers that would go for months or even years without rebooting.

"Nightly reboot" - if you're having to reboot servers every night, you're doing something wrong.
