Can anyone suggest a popular 'guide' to build a website from the beginning and how to monetise it?

And advice greatly appreciated

    Hi Tyson,

    There are a thousand and one ways to set up your blog for success. I'm sure a bit of digging online and on this forum will uncover the information you need. I started out by paying the $1 fee for a months trail subscription with affilorama. This gave me access to Mark Ling's blog bootcamp. That would be my 'holy grail'.

    However, rather than regurgitate information I thought I'd offer a few things that you want to avoid.


    1. Some bloggers don't blog on a regular basis, and their blogs do not have fresh and unique content. Blogs can be powerful in driving traffic to a website if they have high quality and unique content which makes search engines visit them and index the content. After the blog is indexed by search engines, people looking for information on search engines that relate to your blog's keywords will be directed to your website, and you therefore get high volumes of traffic.

    2.     Lack of useful and captivating information on the website. It is important for your blog to have information which your visitors will enjoy and find useful. If you have high quality information on your blog, you will get many repeat visitors because some people will bookmark your blog and visit on a regular basis. If your content is of good enough quality it will be shared --- but only if you provide the functionality to do so. So many people forget this. Also, make sure that functionality works across all major browsers.

    3. Lack of keywords in your blog categories and blog content. This is a powerful way to increase traffic to your website. You must know and use keywords that relate to your niche when posting on your blog.

    4. Some bloggers fail to increase the earning potential of their blogs. If you want to earn money with your blog, you must sell your own products and services on the blog. You can also identify affiliate programs that match your niche and sell these affiliate products. All you need to do is to add your affiliate links on your blog. You can review these affiliate products and include the keywords in your blog content. You can also increase the money you earn from your blog by adding some Google Adsense adverts on your website. When someone clicks of the Google Adsense adverts from your website, you earn some money.


    These are just a few areas that will help you if done correctly. But your best tool is your own research. Check out Mark Ling's Blog Bootcamp though if you can front the $1. This will also give you access to the premium video vault for one month. There is some serious value in there.

      Do you even have a blog? You didn't really say what kind of a web site you were interested in. A blog may not be the best fit for what you want to do.

    Depends what you want to do bro.

    Figure out what you want first then go from there, many upon many free guides or do what i do and fork out as little as $150 for a website that in comparison looks like some of the worlds best, lol.
