I currently use Godaddy for all of my domains.

Godaddy & namecheap are reputed registrars that I've been using for few years now without any problems.

Namecheap for me. I always scream at people to stay a million miles away from GD.

Never had single problem with GoDaddy... however... never used NameCheap...

If your experience with GD is ok that's cool. Mine (over many years) has been reliably atrocious, I've caught them personally buying domains I searched for just hours before (using extremely unique names) and their interface and methods are a joke, a mess and I just find them repugnant, arrogant, insensitive, dismissive and the contempt they displayed was astounding. Never again.

Was you by any chance using GoDaddy?

Currently I am using Namesilo. So far, so good. In the past I used Namecheap and they worked fine too.

These are massive companies, they change. Maybe they got better but I moved on.

These days I just suggest Namecheap. I also like that if you have your DNS server settings already handy (and the domain account has already been built at the host level) a new domain will resolve almost instantly. I always had to do it in two steps with GD. First buy the domain, then login and configure the DNS settings which always caused a delay in resolution. I know there are ways to carry on working with an IP address but I prefer to start and finish an operation in one hit wherever possible. With NC I can get to work immediately which I like.

Every time I have ever read a post like this, when we eventaually hear the other side of the story, the domain registrar has always been within their rights and acted lawfully.

I've used Godaddy for several years without issue. Granted, over that time, I have used a few different registrars and never had a problem. The only one I ever had a problem with is Network Solutions. I know they have since improved, but I don't go anywhere near them because they were so disturbing when they had a monopoly. Pricing doesn't help any either, though.

Never have issues with Godaddy. Many people seem to have a problem but honestly if you keep good housekeeping (meaning you monitor any and all emails you use with them) you will NEVER be out of the loop.

That's an interesting discussion happening here. What I could say is that maybe it's time to start looking for small businesses which will treat you as a person and will provide better services for the same price?

The big players of web hosting industry like Godaddy, Bluehost or Hostgator don't care if you're using their services or not, simply because there are million others who are subscribed to their services and pay money.

They will never provide you personalized assistance, and guidance in simple and friendly manner.

For example I'm working in our own web development company with my friend and we have started providing web / email / domain hosting services, just for clients that we work with. And they are absolutely satisfied. Why? Simply because we are the guys who helped them to develop their websites and they know that all their technical side is covered by us. And it's not about hosting, but friendship between the people as well - they know you'll be there if something's go wrong.

The only registrar I can recall hearing a similar situation was godaddy.

I have used others, but settled on Name.com, because their interface was clean and fast and they are relatively cheap, I think .com's are $9.50 annually (with my discount) and privacy is free even after the first year, with a discount code.

Whenever I read a thread like this, it's usually Godaddy who is the registrar. I use Namecheap. Used to use Godaddy, but just don't like them much, so I transferred my domains out.

Most of the major registrars are reputable. I would recommend either Godaddy or Namecheap. They are both solid.

I'd definitely go for Godaddy or Namecheap.com they're good at costumer services. I said this, because I've been with them for quite a long time now. And whenever I need assistance they're pretty good at that.

when you register with them I suggest to call so you can tell them your past experience and ask them to make you forget that- it works..!

I use namecheap. Never had a problem with them...
