From my own experience (i'm not saying this in general), i have referred about a dozen people when i sold siteson flippa, and they either cancelled or were inactive before the payout date reached...

But i'm sure other people got paid yet, just not me...

What you can do to be more certain is not using their inhouse affiliate program, but sign up through commission junction. But that's just something i heard so i can't say for sure you'll have more protection going that route...

I've received commissions from HostGator, but it's been some time since I stopped promoting it. From my experience, they do pay, but there are lots of cases where the commissions became invalid due to non-payment and cancellations.

Have you tried contacting HostGator about this?

I Have been paid by Hostgator, but they will wait until all the terms are met, then payout a month after that.

Support are very helpful, good luck.

At the moment, HostGator's service isn't one I'd want to promote as an affiliate. But if wanting to promote it at all, I'd certainly do so only through Commission Junction, in an attempt to side-step all the notorious and longstanding potential payment problems involved in dealing with them directly.

I've heard horror stories about them for years in terms of their in house affiliate program so I always avoided it and went through CJ.com.

I've never promoted them too hard at any point so not huge volumes of traffic or sales but I have been paid by CJ.com for sure.

I've made several affiliate sales via HostGator and have yet to be paid.. But nevermind that.. Can someone please explain why their customer service has gone down the drain.. Have the customer service reps are completely clueless.. I have been with just about every hosting company on the web and I've had a few bad experiences. I recently purchased a shared and dedicated server through HostGator during their flash sale and it has just been disaster after disaster..

If it wasn't such a hassle I would have already been out of there.. They nearly cost me my top money site.. It was too large for me to back up and I contacted them multiple times asking them to back it up for me. After several excuses and different stories from each rep I talked to, they finally told me that they made a backup and everything was all good.

All of a sudden, I had an issue with my site.. I contact them to save my a$$ and they are arguing with me telling me that there is no backup.. After calling back multiple times, finally one of them told me I was right. There was a backup. I asked them to restore my site and then got an email telling me that the backup was corrupt.. A backup that they personally made for me.. I didn't even get as much as a "sorry"...

They are by far the worst hosting company I have ever used...

I have been paid by hostgator. They don't scam you without paying. But they'll scam you by eating 50% of your hard earned commissions by marking them as invalid.

I'm a small affiliate on the scale of a lot of you I'm sure, but I would advise strongly about signing up to the Hostgator affiliate network. I've had nothing but issues trying to receive commissions from them. All the purchased accounts were paid in full, one particular time it was because it was only the a record of the domain pointing over instead of the whole domain, so they marked it as invalid. This was also for a dedicated server so they earned some real $ for it, but never kicked me anything. Their rules are massively stacked in their favour to help them wriggle out of paying commissions they owe. I will definitely not be promoting their products anymore.

I've always been paid every commission I've earned. Sure, some have been invalidated due to non payment by the buyer or because the buyer previously had hosting, but that's all spelled out in the TOS.

    Never had problems with them.

As I said, that wasn't the case with me, I know the accounts purchased were paid in full because they were clients of mine. Seems a shame that they rip off the guys that help them out by putting business their way. I certainly won't be doing it again.

How much does the Host Gator affiliate program pay these days anyway? I thought it was something ridiculously low like 5% or something like that.

You're guessing like most others in this thread.

      It's easier to go look...

The pay scale is basically the same as most other host.
