Why HostGator Sucks on Customer Service

Hi Guys,

We pay $175 each month for Snappy 8000 VPS server - hostgator. They really sucks every time we have problems. They don't even answer the tickets or sometimes reply after 48 - 72 hours. I don't know they are going bankrupt or something.

We use HostGator, Hostdime, WPEngine hosting providers at the moment, but the worst one it clearly HostGator. They deserve the worst hosting provider prize.

If you want to build a big website, simply do not use their service. Because they will let you down as soon as a bitty problem occurs on your hosting or website.

I'm sure the net will be better and safer place without hostgator.

I hope you don't purchase their suck service and mess up your life.

    I don't think so.

I think it's just because they've been taken over by the Endurance International Group, with the result (as seen, apparently, with all the other hosting companies bought out by EIG) that the customer service and reliability are now pathetically bad, instead of being quite good.

Personally, I've gotten fast response and solutions to any problem I've ever had with Hostgator and there haven't been many. My sites are always up and running and support has always answered the same day whenever I did have a question or problem.

This was true for me, with Hostgator, for a very long time.

Even after the takeover, move, and so on: when so many other Warriors were complaining about their sites being offline, and unreliable, I had no problems at all and wondered what all the fuss was about. I've found out now, though. The wait for customer support/help seems to have trebled, and the value of the help I get from them has been decimated.

I had been thinking that I'll stick it out with them until my year's contract nearly expires, but I'm not even sure about that, any more. It's been really bad, for me. Just recently/suddenly, after many years of very good service from them.

After the buyout, and all the complaints here, I was braced for bad service and my sites going down. It didn't happen to me at this point, so I really can't say anything bad about them.

I agree with the consensus, I have been with hostgator for a number of years, mostly to be able to test out software products against customers that use host gator, (when I test our software with the most popular hosts, it is always hostgator that presents a problem) when you have to create logic for a host so you can debug scripts, that is a problem that is unacceptable. Just saying its a catch 22 for developers if you do not test using HG then you end up with support tickets and I subscribe to the Maytag philosophy of support.

Been with hostgator for a couple of years now.

Their downtime seems to be more frequent recently but never had any real issue with their customer service.

HostGator sucks, plain and simple... Good for sites that don't get traffic, but once you start having 200 - 600 simultaneous visits, they can't handle it (and deliver error 500 pages instead of sales pages).... not good for business.

Our move over to a BigScoots.com VPS was the BEST move we've made and not only is the server rock sold with all the traffic we've been able to throw at it, they answer tickets faster than HostGator could get a warm body on live chat....

I have a dedicated server and I cannot fault their up-time and support one bit.

If I get an issue, I get onto their 'Live Chat' and in almost every case the problem was solved there and then.

In 12 years online I must have tried at least 30 hosting companies, and they all let me down in one way or another.

They all started out ok, but as time went by, more that half closed down without warning leave me high and dry.

So now I've been with HG for 4 years

I am not 100% agree with your opinion but yes sometime hostgator not give positive response to their customer but still they provide quality based products means 60 good and 40 bad...
