Tsunami Sites by Shawn Casey and Brian Koz

Anybody have any experience with this new product which launched this week.

It's called Tsunami Sites and it's supposed to be a wp plugin that will automatically post articles, videos, pictures. Basically an autoblogging system.

It sounds a bit hyped up so I wanted to get some real reviews from people that purchased this. Are there any upsells or downsells to be looking for?

Thanks!
Mike

And me, I would like to know also if this depends on any 3rd party server for licence validation etc, I am sick of buying software that stops working once they have your money because their server goes offline, not saying these guys will do that, I have just made it a rule that I will not buy anything else that relies on a third party to keep it going.

Strange how no one will answer my question, I have posted it elsewhere and asked the question by email..nothing!

        I have found this
Tsunami Sites Ultimate | Tsunami Sites
Look at these prices, is the $27 offer the complete thing that we are seeing demonstrated or a cut down version that then needs to be upgraded?
All reviews are just spun articles of the same text.

      Hi Michelle,
      How did you get on?
Any idea what the pro version is?
      Does it work?
Do they silence you after you buy? LOL Maybe not the last one..although I'm beginning to wonder, either they haven't sold any or it's the best kept secret on the net.

        Ok,
        I have some information.
See the email trail below, you will need to read it from the end upwards of course.
Now I just want to see what someone who has bought it thinks of it.
        --------------------------------------
We changed the offer path because we included the features of the pro version in the regular version as an extra benefit to all our customers!

When you build sites, the posts automatically include 5 links to other posts on your sites. All linking is internal. For people who take advantage of the network, the bottom 2 links on a post will point to other posts on other sites. And links on other network sites will point to your posts on your site. If you don't join the network, then the network sites will not link to you, nor will your site link to them.

Thanks again but isn't that a separate oto?
I am referring to the sales page
It shows an oto 1 which is the pro version and an oto 2 which is the ad network and an oto 3 which is training
Also, can you tell me, if I decide NOT to go with the ad network, do I still have one way ads on my site to people who are in the ad network?
        Thanks again.

        ahh

        that is the ad network

you can get your links out to others for backlinking

when you get to the upsell it will show it on the video

you do not need to buy it but it helps get you traffic to your site too

I must say, I am being taken in by the hype, if it performs like it shows I will probably have to buy its multi site licence.
I would be very interested to know what the upsells are, I hate all this cloak and dagger stuff, just give us the price and what it does and we can make up our own mind.

Would like to know what the OTO's are, as well. I'm guessing one would be a flipper's license, but not sure what the other two would be.

Personally, I'm skeptical of this hype. It's just another one of these big launches, intended to make the product owners richer with the latest and greatest software. Their main focus is reeling in top affiliates to see how much money they can extract for this from their subscribers during this launch period. If these guys really cared about your questions, why aren't they on this thread answering you personally? Because they're too busy staring at their stats, maybe?

Just my two cents...if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

    Hey all,

I just thought I'd jump in and answer a few questions:

First, there's a 30 day money back guarantee so there's no risk. And our support is one of the best in internet marketing where we always get back to you in one business day or less (and we have good support -- not crappy "barely speaking English" people.

Second, there is no "pro" version. We originally were going to offer a more decked out version as an OTO, but we decided to add that into the main offer for free. So it's not like you need to buy more or anything to get a better version or anything like that.

And there's no worries with something going dead or anything like that. Unlike a lot of others out there, we constantly upgrade our stuff and have a decent sized coding and support team for just that. I know it sucks when others launch stuff that is obsolete after a month. That's not us.

As for the OTO's, there are some, but none are required. One is for a $1 trial for an ad network. Another is for some advanced traffic and leads training (on top of the training we already have). And then there's an offer for a software maker which is pretty cool, but because we're almost full with users on that (we just wanted a select amount before launching that one separately), that might be swapped out soon before we wrap the launch up.

As for our reputation, we've been in the industry for a long time and have a great reputation. And as you can see, I participate in the forum and you can easily find me as well and reach me at brian@webfire.com (but please use the normal support e-mail for support related questions as they're on hand to answer all that stuff).

As for Shawn's voice if you have an issue with it, you guys are on a marketing forum first and foremost, and one of the things about marketing is that you do what works. People like that kind of voice, and we go way out of our way to make sure that everything is legit and we're not overhyping anything. All of our claims are true unlike many others out there.

And all in all, Tsunami Sites are very cool, and I was shocked when I first got the idea at how viral a lot of them actually can go (I knew it would work but some turned out even better than expected).

    Take care,

    Brian

I don't know if that's the norm or not, I just assume that's their choice to charge, It will either work for them or it won't.
I am the sort of person that will not haggle, if someone states a price I assume that's the price. I consider what is offered and decide whether it is worth it to me.
I have probably lost out on lots of deals because of this, used cars etc
Personally, If I buy I am going to take my chances without it but that's just my opinion and you probably don't want to follow me as I haven't made any money yet and I can show you my bank account details to prove it!..
I don't do this full time as I have a full time job already.
However, I am enjoying the ride and that's what really matters to me.

        Ok, I have purchased.
So far so good, no suprises.
I used Paypal to purchase, no problems
The download link was sent to my email immediately, it is a JVZoo product.
Upsells were the ad program for a trial dollar which I passed on and some training for $47 which I also passed on.
I have also been offered a free place on a training webinar but I will probably wait and get a replay of that as I will not want to ask live questions, at least I don't think I will at the moment
I am now going to create a blank wordpress site and install it Be back soon...

I would really like to hear more about experience with this product. The product video does not really say very much and leaves many questions unanswered.
That's why a "real" review is really helpful.

Ok, my first problem was I couldn't get it to return ANY results despite following the tutorials in order, it seems that later in the tutorials it tells you that you need to set up some api keys before it will work, not a big deal but I would have preferred a step by step guide in order.
Anyway, I set up the api for tumblr (it needs this to get text and image results) there is a tutorial dedicated to this so that was easy.
Then I needed to set up the youtube api to get video results. There is a dedicated tutorial for this too but I have got half way through this and the youtube api is not listed in my google account where the tutorial says it should be! I have raised a ticket so it will be a good test of the support, I will update again soon hopefully.......

Ok, 55 minutes have passed since I raised the ticket and I haven't heard from them yet but to be fair they might be trying to get an answer for me before they reply.
            Anyhow,
Ok, I have found that, just by trial and error, if I go to "big query api" at the top of the list (you'll know where I mean when you follow the tutorial) and click on it's settings tab (like a gearwheel) I can then choose "services" in the side menu, here I am able to turn on the youtube api.
I have sent an email explaining what I have discovered and asking for the ticket to be closed, I also asked that they email me when they close it so I am able to see how long they take to read the email/ticket.
This is where I am at the moment, I'll be back shortly....

                I'm impressed!
I haven't tried posting on facebook etc but I'm sure that will work ok.
I haven't tried timed post either, I have just tried various keywords in the test panel, there are not as many posts with thumbnail images as I would like but that is no fault of the software.
It does REALLY need to be run with a decent theme, the posts are poorly laid out on the standard themes that come with wordpress but, again, that is not the software's fault.
If I have one thing, at this point, to put on a wishlist, it would be that the search searches more resources, I am unsure of the legal side of that but at the moment it searches tumblr for articles with text and or images and youtube for video. I thought it was going to take content from facebook that was already going viral, I have to admit that I haven't set up the facebook app yet but I believe that is only used for posting to facebook and not collecting from facebook.
To sum up, I am pleased with the plugin at the price I paid, I doubt it is worth a monthly fee though, well certainly not from me anyway.
I will be keeping it, assuming they get the video search to work of course.
I will let you know when support contact me and how I get on.
If you want me to try anything particular I will be happy to do so for you, either send me a pm on here or leave a message on this page.
Also I would like to point out that I am not an affiliate and have no connection other than I have purchased it for full price. I think this is the most honest review on the web.
                Clint
Another thing for the wishlist would be the ability to time posts from the drafts section, this will give more control over the content although I suppose I could set tsunami to make daily searches on a keyword and put the results to draft, then I could just go in every now and then to weed out the crap, I could then use another plugin to time posts from draft but it would be nice if it was all under one program.
I think if you allowed tsunami to find and post to your site without any supervision you would end up with a site full of junk, it needs to be controlled but it will still be easier with tsunami than without I think.

I haven't been offered an upsell to developer rights and there is no licence file in the download.I cannot see anywhere that says you cannot use it for clients sites although I can't say for sure.

Support came back to me with a solution at 21:20, in the evening on a saturday, That is good support as far as I am concerned!
I think I just need to fine tune my keywords and see what gives the best results. I'm off to play now.

I don't have a proper site up yet, I am just playing around with the plugin.
Here's what I have done though..
On my wishlist for this plugin I wanted to be able to autopost from the drafts but this will not (at the moment) do that, so I have installed another plugin called timerelease which will take posts that are in draft and post them at a preset rate.
Now I intend to let tsunami sites hunt for content and put it straight into draft, then I will look at it and see it is suitable and timerelease will post it for me. ( actually I have changed timerelease so it posts from pending, this way I can look at the posts in draft at my leisure and when I am happy with them I change the status to pending and let timerelease do its job.
Sort of manual without all the effort of finding the content. I am not bothered about getting hit by google for duplicate content as I am targeting my visitors directly.

To answer some more questions here:

ClintK, it looks like you just didn't setup the API but are doing so now. It sometimes won't be an instant thing, but they're usually fast and can be active fairly fast. You should be able to get content or videos for almost any kind of keyword out there. If not, watch the tutorial or e-mail our support (they don't monitor other threads so make sure you e-mail them). They'll always get back in one business day or less to you.

Blazon1, yes, you have to pay the $1 to join the ad network. Every network that is legit and good that I know of you'd have to pay a lot more for. You can't get quality ads for free from such networks. And for the price that we have, it's a steal (and will go up after the launch period).

mKane, you can do anything you want with these sites technically within reason. You can't, obviously, give out our tool or anything like that. But you can make as many sites as you want with it and later sell them or whatever.

Brian, good to see you are responsive.

Rather than figure it out at the OTO stage or with the $1 trial, can you explain a bit more about the ad network and the links to other sites (2 per post).

Is their some control over the relevance of the niches that will interlink?

Most people will start with one site. Is it possible to buy the unlimited plugin, and the one site ad network, then upgrade to unlimited at the price it will be initially.

I presume adding amazon ads on sites is an appropriate strategy?

    Thanks CKventure
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[9483848].message }}
  • Profile picture of the author briankoz
Ckventure, the ad network, which is an OTO and completely optional, mimics what other viral sites like BuzzFeed and others do where they link to other viral stories at the end of the posts. If you're part of the network, you'll get lots of links to viral posts on your own sites too. This gives you traffic and links (getting backlinks is always a good thing for rankings and such).

It's only $1 to test it out, so that's why we made it a trial so you get the chance to do so.

As for buying one site vs. unlimited, the special pricing ends shortly, so the rates you see are the rates that the special price is now. After that date, you won't be able to go back and get the special rate as we'll be updating it all to reflect the new price. The ad network price was a special deal because it was new, but it's already grown to a decent size and with it the value has as well.

If you buy one and upgrade before the price changes, you can e-mail support and that'll be fine. But longer than that and it'd be the new price. But both have the trial period.

I picked this up a few days ago. I got the multi-site license and the syndication and picked up the 'extra' training as well.

The order process had an issue with my clicking- I managed to order two syndication licenses and only a single site license. Support was back to me in less than 24 hours and had fixed it in my account.

I have built (still learning) two sites to play with it a bit- I like it enough that I have reserved another domain for a new site, and I am contemplating more.

There are several features to this software/plug in that I really enjoy. I do have, now that I have played with it, a few 'wishes' for consideration in future upgrades. (speaking of which, one upgrade has been released in the less-than-one-week time that I have had it installed... so the developers are continuing to support it).

I'd be happy to provide a url to one of my sites- but don't want to try and milk traffic from here.
That said, one of them is a 'diet' type website and I would be happy to discuss it with anyone via PM.

The diet site is at www dot hcgdietvideos dot com (I figure you can type it in and see it and this way I won't be pulling links from WF)

Oh, and the buttons to share a post on face book work like a charm.

Have you any concerns about the videos that are promoting other products? I know you can approve posts first.
      {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[9485861].message }}
      • Profile picture of the author kartherma
Sure, I have a lot of concerns about what the videos/text/pictures have on them.

There are two options- one is to let the plug in 'auto blog' the posts without approval. The other is to funnel the posts into a preview page where you can go review them and approve as you see fit.

The method of delivery of the posts in the review section provides a 'preview' button where I can go see what the post would look like. If I like it (or not) I can approve it (or delete it).

The search feature does (in my experience so far) return some items that are not fully related to what I want to focus on and tend to stand out- meaning, easy to identify and delete. I have also found that items I might have posted previously can return in the search results.

Either way you choose to do it will probably require some review manually at some stage (either before approving a post -or- after a post goes live). The posts can be edited at any time, even trashed if you want to.

As far as being worried if the videos are selling something that competes with what I am doing with it- I don't think this will be much of an issue for me... If I want to market my own products on a site that I use the plug in on, then I would just make sure to include only the most appropriate content.

More to the point though, I don't think the idea is to build a site that is centered on selling more than it is better suited to building traffic (free) by piggy-backing on the nature of already proven viral content. I am quite sure it will work both ways (and I am targeting both ways in my testing/farting-around with it to see what works for me...).

        Hope this helps?

        Be Good!
        Curtis

Ckventure, you can pull content (with pictures), just pictures, or videos very easily or even automatically. For the video part, some niches with some keywords might be more or less likely to pull ones that promote other stuff, but that's why you can type in any keyword you want or manually approve of anything you want there. But overall there's a lot less promotional stuff of others in there, especially on the content side, if you target it all right.

I suspect that you and I are talking about two different things here. I have been a part of ad networks like Tribal Fusion, Burst, Advertising.com (not Yahoo Ads, I believe), all top ad networks and not one penny was paid to those orgs by me (other than those companies sharing in the revenue from clicks, of course). You do have to meet certain traffic requirements to get into those networks, of course, but again, no payment required.
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[9485991].message }}
  • Profile picture of the author briankoz
Blazon1, you're thinking of a different kind of ad network.

Those are ones where you put paid ads on and you share in the revenue. Those don't cost you anything to run others' ads, as others are paying those networks to have ads on your sites. You'd still need to pay if you were running ads on others' sites.

That's not what we're doing here. What we're doing here is more like your ad is going out onto others' sites. So just like with Adwords and the other networks you mentioned, you would have to pay to have your ads go out there (even though it would be free to list others' ads on those other networks, which is what you might be confused at).

Are we able to use this to post the generated content to a single category (ie. blog category) on an existing website? Or can this only be used to create an entire new website? I don't want of overwrite my existing ecommerce product pages, but I simply want to add content to a blogging category on the site. Is this possible with this product?

    I dont know about Clint...
But I can see that this plug in will help me build a solid set of earners... I've played the small adsense/niche game for quite some time and this is (for the time being) fairly unique.

The syndication feature is really the cat's meow in my opinion- any links built using that remain on my site until I delete the post or close the site down... That means any links built on other tsunami powered sites that point to one of my pages also remains. The links are built quietly and automatically in the back ground.

Both 'farting-around' sites I built were indexed nearly immediately. And both have shown slow but steady growth in traffic.

A two day old site that has indexing and traffic growth might not seem like a big deal- but these were built with essentially no promotion- and any promotion that was done was from the tsunami videos, free, and most important to me- easy.

I fully intend on building the third site out using the software and pulling out some stops of my own- with the intent of building an in-house case study for my list members. I like it that much. (true- it takes work and an appreciation that there are no push-button solutions).

    be good!

Curtis, that's awesome news! Glad that you're getting indexed fast and getting traffic. We got the same results ourselves with all the sites we've done with it. You should also be sure to come to our free training webinar tomorrow (Tuesday), as on top of some random prizes, we'll also have a separate contest for testimonials with proof such as yours.

Parisrose, first, you can use it on any wordpress sites and they don't leave any normal footprints that you'd have to worry about. But second, most of the traffic comes from social sites, so you have to worry even less about Google (although Google loves these sites as you can see).

Quincy, you can use this on just the blog side of things or even just under certain categories of a blog, so you won't have any issues there.

Terrymate, there's training in the members area, but there's also a free training webinar tomorrow (Tuesday) that we'll go into more detail on stuff as well for all members.

NewMedia, the sites aren't about arbitrage, but you certainly could use them for that. The main thing we teach is using them to get viral posts to get free traffic vs. paying for traffic in arbitrage, but technically you could do both with Tsunami Sites.

Yesyes, there's actually a link inside the members area if you're having troubles with videos, as it's an easy error that some people are getting because they're overlooking some of the training / troubleshooting on that part. 99.9% of the issues with that are fixed after watching that short tutorial.

As for the support ticket, you should be sure to double check your spam folder as I'm guessing you got a reply as all of the support tickets are answered within one business day or less. If not, feel free to pm me your e-mail and full name and I can have the support look you up in the morning.

      Thanks Brian,
I can manually or auto post with the software but I want to be able to auto post AFTER I have checked the results from a search, I want to be able to auto search and have the software put the results in draft, then I want to be able to examine the results in draft and weed out those I don't like. Then queue those drafts up for auto posting. I know it's not quite what the software is for but that's how I intend to use it, Using the additional plugin I can now do this, It would be great if this was built into your plugin but I realise I am using it for a different purpose than it was intended so I am happy to work around.

That would be great Brian, The plugin that I am using to do this is ok but it is very limited in options, it will only post one post at a time and you cannot choose when, it will just post 24 hours after the last post on the site. the plugin has been discontinued so it is difficult to find.

Eswere, all of our support e-mails are addressed within one business day or less. My guess is that you received replies to your spam folder and missed it. However, if not, you can e-mail me at brian@webfire.com and give me your name and e-mail and I can have them look it up and let you know. You didn't give any of that info here, so I can't really help without that first.

Betandallas, your statements are factually false. We didn't refuse a refund at all. We simply asked that you drop the dispute so that we can refund you then. Otherwise the affiliate system doesn't work properly with the instant payments. This action takes you less than 30 seconds to do, and we can process it the same day. And you didn't submit a request for a refund -- you went through Paypal, which is not us. Simply e-mail us instead of disputing on Paypal and we'll happily refund you -- no worries at all bud.

I am looking at a $47.00 price. Are we still in the "early bird" phase or is this the new and/or permanent price. If I missed the early bird phase.... I am going to have to review all the lists I am on. What good is it to receive so much drivel... only to miss the goo stuff???

      Cheers,
      chris

      Brian,
I was charged again for $19 today. Can you explain that? And No my accusation is not false, perhaps you should not take the payments through PayPal if you can't refund through PayPal. If I end the dispute through PayPal, they will treat it as if the dispute was resolved(Which obviously it hasn't). It will get resolved either way so I'm not worried. Thank you.

Chris, the introductory period is over, but e-mail me at brian@webfire.com and we can see what we can do for you.

Betandallas, yes, that can be explained easily. You signed up for a $1 trial on a subscription that rebills at $19 / month. This was clearly stated on the one time offer page, on the video itself too, as well as on the Paypal checkout page. To cancel, you just needed to either ask our support or cancel within Paypal. We obviously can't charge your Paypal without you signing up for a subscription first, which you did (note that this is only the one time offer -- the main product is just a one time price for the introductory period). The way the affiliate network works with real time instant payments is we can refund through the system, but we need you to drop the dispute or the instant payment tracking won't work as an affiliate gets paid in real time. Again, this can be fixed within about 30 seconds with your cooperation, which for whatever reason you seemed to either be confused on or not wanting to do that. Otherwise affiliates could buy through their own link, open a dispute, get refunded through the dispute and still keep the automatic payment which would be a double hit on our part (and a common scam). I'd be happy to resolve this within minutes, and you can always reach me at my e-mail above. Once you drop the dispute, let the support know and they can refund your payment the same day. Easy peasy.

Eswere, what is your name and e-mail? I responded to all my morning e-mails and don't know if you were among them as I don't know your name or e-mail. All of the products are automatically delivered, so first check your spam folder just in case. If it's not there, make sure that a payment went through, and then our support should be able to sort you out the same day.

Betandallas -- our support told me that they refunded the two purchases in question, but as for the $19 charge that you claimed was unauthorized to Paypal (even though it was a subscription as mentioned on the sales page, sales video, checkout page, and on Paypal), because you said it was unauthorized, Paypal has to complete their investigation before we're allowed to refund that as we don't have access to that until afterwards. Next time just ask us first before raising disputes and all that stuff which just gives both sides headaches.

Eswere, I forwarded your note to support so they can resend the welcome e-mail, which they just did. But as a side note, there is nothing under your name or e-mail in our support. Are you sure that you e-mail support [at] tsunamisites.com or used the help desk vs. e-mailing some other e-mail? Either way you should have the login now.
