1and1 is also a good domain registrar. But their renew charges are too high compare to Goadddy and Name cheap.

I have used them and they are ok. I have found customer service to be a bit better with some of the other hosts that I have used. The best customer service that I have found was with namecheap.

I have used them before without any problems. Think they offer the domain at £0.99 ($1.60) for the first year then £10.99 ($18.20) thereafter. Excl VAT.

Cheap way to try out a domain for 12 months.

      Hi Faisal,

      (i) 1and1 is one of the very small number of domain-name registrars I would categorically never use at all, regardless of their prices. I think they're a fundamentally dishonest and extremely unpleasant company, and if you do just a little bit more research (using either Google search or even just Warrior Forum search) you'll quickly understand why so many successful internet marketers don't ever touch 1and1

Thanks. I googled and shocked to see their billing problems.

I agree! I have registered hundreds of domains and the only time I have ever had a domain swiped out from under me when registering is when I tried using 1and1. Supposedly they don't always register the domain(s) you order immediately, instead the domain order can go into a pool of domains that they batch register a bit later.

I will never try to do business with 1&1 again.

        Cheers

I have trouble understanding this obsession with saving pennies on domains.

The stability you give up by not working with one solid company isn't worth worth the extra cup of Starbucks.

This is a business asset, isn't it? You should really treat it like one.

I often use GoDaddy coupons that save me upto $5-8 on a single domain. I'm learning my trade in Domain Flipping so I often have to register a few domains every now and then.. can't really afford them at $10 a pop
      Well, thats my excuse !!

In my personal experience, they are thieves, plain and simple!

I posted before but many years ago I had a shocking experience with them. Basically I had my wallet stolen with all my credit/debit cards and needed to renew a domain. My father offered to use his credit card which I did but when I got a replacement business card I asked 1&1 to change the renewal details to this card - which they acknowledged. However a year later they debit my father's card. They had no permission to debit this card as the details they showed did not show this card. They said they always debited a card they'd before. Anyway my father was a lawyer for many years and wrote to them telling them they had 14 days to refund him otherwise he'd be opening a small claims case. 1&1 did back down and I moved a portfolio of domains from them as I didn't trust them. This was 8/9 years ago now.

Try namesilo. Nowdays most of marketers, move their domain host from godaddy to namesilo. For first year you pay for $7.99 with free privacy whois, and for domain renewal is still $7.99. I have moved my domain host from godaddy to namesilo as well.

I've never used them for hosting when the just launched in the US and
were giving away 3 free years of hosting. When that changed into
paying it was very difficult to get them stop charging my credit card.
You actually had to call and fax in a form etc.-- they just made it very
difficult to cancel. Apart from that my experience was good.

I would not use them, GoDaddy has been good to me and is very cheap. I see no reason to use anyone else.

I have domains at 1and1 (registered years ago) and have not had a problem - the 2-3 times I've needed customer service, it's been there.

They used to be very competitive in price and offered free privacy, too - but their prices have increased.

There have been complaints about 1and1 but many of them have complained about the hosting rather than domains. I don't think I would recommend them to someone due to those complaints - but personally I've not had a problem with them.

    Hi there,

We use 1&1 for a few of our domains. They are OK, but they did tell us that we couldn't buy a certain domain or that it 'didn't exist' when we just went to another domain provider and bought it lol!

We normally use adomainname4you.com because they are cheaper and have great customer service. Well worth a try!

    Hope this helps,

If you want to give a photo of your ID card, driver license for registration,

if you want to order the domain and get it registered 5 days later,

if you do not need one click wordpress install,

    then go with them.
