Can anybody help me choose a product to follow that would show me the ropes to making money online. I am so overwhelmed with all the products available here in the forum that I would be broke if I purchased all of them. I want to follow someone who has made money and is still making money using the method they will show me. Would love to hear your feedback.....Help!!!! I want to make money and quit my day job. I need a product that will bring money in fast so I can replace my day job income.

    Hi D. Starr,
One thing to keep in mind is that you are reading copy from some great marketing people. This sounds harsh, but making money online requires work. It is a business. If I was new I would take a look at a guy named Chris Farrell.

A good membership site designed for new marketers at a low price is where I would start. I think he has a trial membership for about $5 for 2 weeks.

That is just my 2 cents.

Actually I would 2nd that. He is honest and down to earth
He explains everything in easy to understand plain english
no tech talk. Very affordable great place for a beginner to start.

Kim Roaches product is good but I would recommend Chris Farrell
1st then hers to add on.

      Also just my 2cents worth

I definately second the Chris Farrell recommendation. His membership site is paid, but lower than many. The thing about Chris is that he SPEAKS TO NEWBIES.

If you want to get a feel for his style for free; go to his site, download his free ebook, and sign up for his list. You will be getting his video newsletter "Success Grenade." It is very basic, and very good, and covers a lot of things that you need to know.

Plus he's a really nice guy!

Trust no-one! Nobody will show you all the pieces of the puzzle, all the big marketers just advertise each other's pieces of the puzzle.

You are prime picking for them as you are desperate to make money online, i really suggest starting a real business first from your main skillset rather than trying to learn everything at once, its overwhelming to try and do that all in one day. From that standpoint, you will have more freedom to experiment with what it is that you want to do when creating a product, and you will already have a business set up and ready, and something to fall back on if it all goes pear-shaped.

It is incredible how difficult it is actually to get someone's wallet out and give you money as everyone is really suspicious as to what is going on. I suggest looking at the big launches from the outside, watch and learn - you will learn more by doing this rather than buying loads of products that dont deliver - its you that has to deliver at the end of the day.

I will give you some free universal tips:

    Find out what people want
(google sktool and adwords keyword tool is the best way to find this online, or browse the magazine racks)

Get in front of them (either buy the traffic using adwords, or get them on your mailing list, or do some seo, use social networking, write articles and send them out to directories, blogging etc.)

Convert them to buy your product (play on their worst fears here - show them value)
using either a video or a sales letter

    - OR -

Use advertising / affiliate links, but with affiliate products still sell what you are promoting to your customer.

Its not easy - it takes a lot of determination, and a lot of investment in time - start small and go from there.

    Good luck!

The first thing you need to ignore is that "it's easy" to make significant money online, it requires very consistant work, much like running a business or working a day job. But you can make progress part time if you are dedicated and determined to succeed. The process is rather involved, thats why 99% fail, but it is doable for some. If you are looking for fast easy money, you won't find it on the internet, save what you have and don't fall for the hyped up sales traps.

You don't have to buy a heap of different products or the latest and greatest, what you need is 1 that works and then just repeat the process until you are making what you want, this could take up to 12 months or more if you keep at it.

You can spend around $200.00 and get a very detailed step by step course like Affiloblueprint 02 (I just had a good look at this because a close friend purchased it, I was very impressed with the detail and how the lessons and videos where put together, probably the best I've seen) If I was a newbie I would not stick with the monthly forum / newsletter offer as you would have your hands full with the 12 weeks of lessons, you would not need any extra info to confuse you at this stage or for many months going foreward, it's just an extra cost that you could use better elsewhere.

If you decided on this course or something similar, don't buy anything else (not even the affiloblueprint upsell offered during the purchase process) unless it assists the process, you don't need it. The basic principles of making money online have not changed, don't be sucked into buying the next best thing, it's usually the same process rehashed and often badly at that.

        Hope that helps

Thank-you for your advice. I do have a question for you if you don't mind, you mentioned sticking to 1 that works and then just repeat. What is your advice on that process I should start with. There are so many ways to make money from CPA, Articile Marketing and so on. You also mentioned the basic principles of making money online have not changed, what would you consider the basic, I'm sure this would help me out greatly. I have rread enough about IM that I have a good idea but I'm still a little confused due to all the products and different methods out there.

I meant choose and stick to 1 step by step program that walks you throught the whole process of selecting a niche, an affiliate product for that niche, the right keywords, building a web site (you will definately need one, most likely many) to make money, and how to get traffic to your site etc. Like I said it's a fairly involved leaning curve, if you are making your desired income after 1 year you are doing extremely well, most never make anything.

The repeat bit refered to building 1 web site in 1 niche, get it making money, then choose another niche and repeat the whole process over and over until you are making your target income. CPA and article marketing are part of the process they are not a money making process in themselves, you will still need to learn and implement all the things I mentioned above, you will still need a web site, etc, etc.

The basic principle is you need to sell something that people want, an affiliate product if you dont have your own products, a CPA is really just another form of an affiliate product, a bit like adsense but more lucrative. IMO the best way to get that product before potential buyers is to build an informative web site that genuinely helps people as well as offering the product. It's not a 5 minute process it takes serious effort.

The reason I mentioned "Affiloblueprint 02" it takes all that confusion you mentioned away because it teaches the proven priciples of internet marketing from A to Z, you won't need anything else, forget all the other crappy, confusing products, at the offered price I think it's extremely good value. I should mention I have no connection to program owners, but I have seen plenty of so called internet courses, this is one of the few that impressed me with what you get for your money. IMO if you can't make money after following the "Affilioblueprint 02" step by step training course, you will never make money on the internet, you would need to go try something else.

If you are serious you need to pick a proven training couse and get stuck in, I've made my recomendation, check it out or ignore it, the choice is yours. What ever you choose to help you get going you need to take action as there is a lot to learn if you really want to succeed.

              Starr,

I hope that all these replies will not confuse you more. But I certainly know how you feel. There are so much offers landing in your inbox, so many WSOs, so many different strategies...

Therefore it is really vital to pick ONE and follow through. What would you like to accomplish? Building a list? Having your own product or promote an affiliate product? Go with PPC or SEO?....

Think about this, make up your mind, stop reading and start acting. I'm sure the already mentioned Affiloblueprint is very valuable. If you have decided, then do everything that is in the course, follow it from A to Z. And then, once you start making money, your motivation and determination will grow.

Think about this: if you keep buying stuff without doing, you will not make money. Then why not pick a strategy and go for it?

Let us know how you're doing!

              Good luck,

My sister has been at this for over a year and just now got to the point where she can quit her day job and begin to support herself thru her business ventures, and I consider her a very lucky person, although "luck" is a bad word. She has been dilligently working for many hours each night after work to finally get to this point. She began getting involved more for fun than profit, then it just snowballed. My only advise is to do something you enjoy! "Do what you love, and love what you do!" Good luck!

Hi Starr, I agree with blogsy, don't jump from one program to another because it takes time to see result, like in any other business, get one program and stick to it for few months. Most of the programs offer money back, but the issue is that you spend time (I spend a LOT of time) to get to know the program, my advise spend some time to check the program before you join, google it, if you have the name of the owner google that as well. I tried many programs spend too much money and time until I bumped to MIB this is an honest & working program, the support there is GREAT all the way, it is free to join the MIB, you have to pay Traffic Wave after 30 days (by then you should have some success), in other words you don't pay anything before you see some results - isn't that nice. I am with this program 6 month now - there is some work involved, like in any business, as everyone (that is truly honest) says you won't get reach overnight and you do have to work at it. MIB is fun, the work there is easy as well great group of people to help all the way.

Absolutely agree about sticking with one thing at a time. Too many newbies dip into to too many things that promise the earth. You can have the earth if you stick at ONE THING. Find courses that have a lot of GOOD reviews from people who have been on them. There are loads out there, some work for some, others work for others. Go with the one that a. suits the way you want to work (do you like videos, do you want to read an ebook/course, do you want all the material up front or on a weekly/monthly basis?) and b. specifically tackles the areas you need to know about. It's no good going with a course that covers things you have already done and feel okay with. Get on a course that will teach you something you don't yet know about sufficiently.

    Good Luck!

No problem on giving you advice, i've made a few mistakes and really, nobody tells you anything more than you can figure out for yourself - but if you want to do a course i recommend going with the 30 day challenge - its free, i know someone who did it last year and managed to make some money. It starts in august, i will be following it - i've found out about a couple of useful firefox plugins from them.

I'm the opposite of most people in the internet marketing community since i'm not interested in selling internet marketing based information products, but i'm interested in marketing to sell my own products eventually - i have bought a couple of medium to high-ticket purchases to only return them, i really dont recommend buying anything and getting sucked into the hype.

Most of these products are just recorded seminars full of filler and are padded out big time, with one or two snippets of information. Meanwhile, you're getting emotionally bonded to this person and they try and upsell you / pitch you to their higher-priced ticket product.

If you do buy anything, make sure that it has a money-back guarantee and test their support before buying anything.

I just put my hand over my eyes and sigh with disbelief when someone else releases a product with 'the next big new secret method' blah blah yeah right. Just watch and observe, they will be using that technique when they are trying to sell to you.

Focus on building a business based on a service - look at what other people are doing for ideas either on here, sitepoint or digitalpoint forums. As with any business there is always support, maintainance, etc. to deal with so don't do too much at the same time.

Don't miss out the business model, as yourself how are you going to generate money?

Buy what services / software that you need, invest in domain names that you will need, save up some cash to put into your product and not somebody elses at the end of the day.

Come up with a plan of action then execute it, you only fail when you give up.

i started out not long ago and was severly overwhelmed by information.. free books, paid books. affiliate marketing, membership sites, article directory, seo, adsense, creating ebooks, list building,

1 word to sum my experience - confusing!

now my focus is on adsense and seo. learning to build traffic along the way. Seo applies not just to im, but to real life as well, for my own business.

there still a lot to learn about earning from adsense, so lets work hard together~

This is the problem ... you don't want to be thinking which product (or topic) do I learn first (like how to find the best niche or how to do keyword research) you don't want to be looking for bits and pieces of the process or a wso because they are cheaper. IMO, just because it's a WSO does not mean it's a good product, there are good and crappy WSO offers...You want a product that teaches you A to Z, a hold your hand week by week course with an end goal of making you money, that at the same time leads you to the start of your business, a real business, that with your acquired knowledge will grow over time to be making you a full time income.

As a Newbie, once you start looking for single solutions to tackle without the right guidance you are heading for frustration and confusion and eventual failure. Imagine you were building a house, I built my own house as an owner builder (at the time I was a freelance photographer) so now I understand what's required, but luckely at the time I had a brother-in-law who was a builder, he was my mentor, he taught me what to do and when. If I had no guidance, I would not have known where to start, you would not know at what stage do I get the plumber in, when should I call the electrician, should I to do this first or should I do it later, etc, etc. Learning the order of the whole process is as important as learning the process it's self, the same applies to Internet marketing.

Don't be scared to spend a bit of money on the right training course by a good mentor, I have made my recommendation earlier in this tread so I wont go there, my advice is there to take or leave. All I will say is most of the rehashed stuff I have seen does not qualify as good value or good training ... Good luck with how you decide to proceed.

Hi Starr, I think it's important to follow the people that are teaching you what you seen them do and have success in that area of expertise. Some are great at list building, product creation, PPC, SEO and other niches. I think that it is important to learn from those where you've seen products from before and you then Google to research the product and look for other feedback in the other forums and chatter on the internet.

If it passes this test I would then make the purchase if it fits your business strategy. I also would recommend what you're business strategy is and stick to it and your niche. Information overload happens to the best of us, but if you're focused you won't get distracted. Make your business plan, create the tasks that you need to complete each day and make sure that the products that you purchase are inline with your business plan.

Also search for a mentor that can teach you along the way. This can be done via the webinars, and email. IM is a business and you must be ready to plan , stratigize execute and it will have expenses and of course profits. I think that focuse is the best move to be successful just like any business.

        Hope that was helpful,

The best thing you can do is trust yourself !

This means trying things and testing them and seeing if they work. There is lots of information online for free that will help you start out.

Test one thing at a time and don't expect to make money overnight. It certainly isn't easy and it takes time to find out what works and what doesn't.

    Hi D. Starr,

The fact that most of us working 9 to 5 jobs and if given opportunity to retire early and rich , is EVERYONE'S dream. But lets stay in reality , most of the times things are not that easy. Same to the Internet. It is undeniable that this technology will have the potential of making you rich, IF YOU REALLY KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING.

If you really want to make money online , please remember that internet is the BIGGEST library in the WORLD. The problems here is , without proper guide , you will
be lost in this INFORMATION overload situation.

I am not trying to scare you but sincerely I had been in that situation. But don't worry, I was introduced by my friends to a guy named Brian Terry. What I can say
is that this guy is really good at teaching about this Internet Marketing industry. I hoped that when I first started, someone had introduce me to him . By the way , If I can benefit from his lessons , I know you will to..

    Hi Starr

There is some very good advice in this thread, but in answer to the question 'Who do I trust?' I would answer, trust someone who is willing to help you get started without initially selling you something. Act on their advice and check out the result. If it works, and makes you a little money then spend some of that money getting more advice/support from the same person. There are some really great people on this forum who have proved themselves willing to help without expecting payment, initially anyway

I also advise you to learn as much as you can about business before trying to become an internet marketer. It makes the going so much easier.

Don't make the mistake most IM newbies make and try to sell Internet Marketing stuff to other newbies, you can't sell what you don't know (and that applies to Affiliate Marketing too)

Cut your teeth in non IM niches first, initially stick to topics you know about either as an expert, or as an experienced customer and enthusiast. That way you know what people are likely to want and therefore to buy.

You need three things to succeed in any business, offline or online:

    1. A marketplace of people who either have problems they want solved or who are keen enthusiasts for a particular activity and are willing to spend money to get what they want. This market should be big enough to be worth spending time getting to know them

    2. A product or service that will not only satisfy their wants but over deliver to the point of sheer delight - that way you get recommendations and positive reviews. You will also get a loyal following who will buy almost anything you offer later. This product must be priced to be acceptable to your customers while at the same time being enough to cover all your costs, including marketing, and delivering a proft.

    3. A method of communicating clearly what you have for them, how you understand them and can serve them and why they should deal with you. In the case of internet marketing this usually involves having a website and being able to drive or attract your target customers to your website.

Your initial learning should be focussed on understanding these key areas. Most people who fail do so because they ignore one or more of these 3 key points.

Then choose a market, choose your product and start getting your message out there. Focus on just this one project and keep working at it until your efforts bear fruit. If you have done you homework as above, it will. When it is successful, try to automate as much as possible. Then you will have time to firstly provide more products to the same market and secondly look for more markets.

You can get all the education you need to help with the above for free both in this forum and all over the internet. When you need tools and support to help with implementing all the above, then is the time to go shopping because you will then know what you are looking for and what questions to ask.

I'll stop here as I meant to keep this simple and it is becoming a bit of an e-book!!

    Best of luck

    John

Hi I'm a newbie too and I decided to try "30 Day Bum Marketing Blueprint" you can actually find the pdf for free, just do a google search (I'd link to it but I guess I'm not allowed to yet). Obviously I can't give a full testimonial since I haven't actually used it yet, but I've been researching it and only read good things about it. The thing I like is it gives EXACT instructions on what to do each day, so you can just get to work and stop thinking and analyzing everything.....not to say you shouldn't analyze and learn, but this way you can start taking immediate action. It would be great to see how it's working for someone else too, you should give it a shot!

Bum marketing is ok to get the feel of driving traffic to a product, but if your aiming for a decent income your time could be better spent learning to build your own web site/s. To get the real money flowing a blog or web site will be needed eventually, the sooner you get one up, the sooner you take control of the content and your personal marketing approach in your chosen niche/s.

I agree with the vast majority of replies here, and here's my contribution...

      Don't start shelling out money!
Most of the process can be done for free, most of the info you need to get started can be found for free.

The big shiny sales pages are just that - sales pages!
For a total newbie, the info within them may be too advanced anyway.

My biggest tip if you do feel tempted to spend money on a product is to email the seller first.
If they don't reply, that tells you all you need to know.
Yes, they may be busy, but it's the busy ones who *still* reply that show they are probably the ones to go with.

Don't forget to use the free resources first though!

I agree with much of what has been posted. It can be very overwhelming and information overload is pretty much a guarantee online.

      Here is my 2 cents:

      1) Understand making money overnight online is a huge sales pitch, and this is where a lot of people end up spending money on program after program because the sales letter is tapping into your emotions and telling you everything you want to hear.

      2) Starting any business online is just that it is a business so treat it as such, absolutely you can make a great living online but it will take work.

      3) Start a business that you have a passion for, it could be gardening, painting, cars, it can be anything. Find what you love. What are your hobbies? Turn a hobby into a business. Maybe affiliate marketing could work for you. Bottom line do what gets you excited.

      4) Cut out the noise, ignore all the ads, and make money in 24 hour sales pitches, because that's what they are sales pitches, no more no less.

      5) There are people that truly want to help, but unfortunately it can be costly and become a full time job finding these people. Stay here at Warrior, people are here to help, it is safe here.

      6) My suggestion is I would go to a web site called Site Sell the founder is Ken Evoy and his program walks you through everything from start to finish. This is not a build your business over night program, it is truly designed for the beginner or novice. There is a great video explaining everything, scroll past the 2 minute video to get to the full version video.

I hope that helps and good luck on your journey, and keep us posted.

      To Your Success

I trust myself 100% but that didn't stop me from getting ripped off before I wised up. Looking for trust on the Internet would probably be the hardest place there is to find it. Everybody is trying to make a $ including me. The problem is you have the worst rip offs (which seems to be the majority) combined with some excellent products that offer real value.

But how do you figure which are good and which are crap, you ask for suggestions right here in the forum, then do individual searches on the product suggestions making sure that they are being used by other Warriors. If they are new, wait a while for user input.

Recently I was asked by a friend which of 2 products would I recommend, I hadn't used either so In an effort to help him out, I posed the same question here in the forum. There was a clear stand out, I did some more forum research and came to the same conclusion. So I suggested he give it a try (it came with a solid 60 day refund offer, so there was no risk). When he got the course I was keen to check it out, I was blown away with the detail and value, I could only dream of a course like this when I got started. They where asking thousands for half this info a few years ago, if you could find it at all. So the warrior forum was right on the money.

The interesting thing is the product creator and owner is an Internet marketer, his intention is to make money off you and hundreds, maybe thousands of others. He did not create this Internet course out of the goodness of his heart, he created it to make money, lots of it. Does this make him a bad guy that you can't trust "NO" ... You can still be a hard selling Internet marketer wearing 1 hat ... But still a trusted helpful person that cares about his customers and offer quality products wearing the same hat. Just use the forum to sort the wheat from the chaff because there will always be more recycled chaff than wheat.

I realise you can get a lot of free information by yourself, and that's ok if you know what to learn first, because starting half way up the stairs or at the top first is what leads most newbies to information overload. They don't have a study plan, they don't know what step 1 should be, they don't even know how many elements there is to the overall process, this is a very slow, frustrating and unproductive way to go forward IMO.

There is no doubt you can learn this game by yourself, but it will take you a hell of lot longer, with many pot-holes along the way and cost you more in the long run. Internet marketing training is no longer the stupid prices that it used to be in the past. Newbies have got it a lot better than what it was a few years ago, they should take advantage of those that have fallen in the pot-holes and now know how to avoid them and are willing pass that information on. $$ spent on good education is not wasted, it comes back many, many times over, year after year.

I want to echo the reply that encourages you to do the 30 day challenge. Ed Dale does an AMAZING job (and even that is an understatement) of teaching you, step by step, how to get started making money online.

It is NOT push button simple to get going. It helps to know these KEY things:

What niche do you want to focus on...and make it credible. If you've never sold on eBay, don't try to teach people how to do that.

Niches that are NOT Internet Marketing related can be HUGE goldmines. The 30 Day Challenge will likely touch on finding a good niche...it has in the past.

Then, choose a method and stick with it...just like everyone else is saying.

I have "shiny object syndrome" and tend to chase lots of different things, but lately have been focusing on Russell Brunson's Micro-Continuity. I suggest looking into that AFTER you go through the 30 day challenge.

If you can afford some type of coaching program, this is probably your FASTEST way to get going. There really are so many good folks out there, you just have to find one that you resonate with and think you could learn from. Some people just rub me the wrong way and I'd never work with them, but others are a good fit, personality wise, and I'd work with them in a heartbeat.

Worst case scenario, once you find someone you think you can work with, post something here and get feedback. If most people have something good to say, it's probably a safe bet.

    Hope that helps.

I used to buy all the how-to ebooks and courses, and classes...but it wasn't until i decided to create my own product, in my case an ebook to a hungry crowd, and i got the site made and the book and figured out the best way to get the traffic ( i will do article marketing, SEO and blogging to get my niche market traffic using my keywords from google)...anyway....you need to think of it as a business...not a quickie part time job, but as a whole business you run.

Learn as much as you can from this site here...so much info. Good luck, you can do it, but don't focus so much on BUYING any programs, or courses...i learned most of what i needed here or searching online....but thats just me.

Internet marketing is no different from 9-5 job. Well, at least at the beginning stage. Those products/systems that you come across that project to you their kind of life style is a marketing tactic to entice you to buy their products, is a subliminal thing.

The sales page is subtly inserted with marketing words that influence you to buy their products. In short, they play with your want, needs and desire.

Tell me who don't want an easy life. If you have worked in 9-5 environment with business targets to meet, you would know what I mean.

If someone truly want to try out internet marketing or any online ventures, I think having the right mindset and correct attitude are critical for success. Take it as a business, do up a business plan and set your targets.

And, don't forget....take action. I missed the last part too long. Having engrossed in reading one ebook after another and trying different system looking for a quick fix. Well, spent a lot of money, getting myself confused. So, take it from me that learned from the hard way. Please take action.

Hi Star welcome to Warrior Forum

As everyone is different & has different ideas if you are intending to build an e-commerce website i would strongly recommend you start with a subject you know something about.

If you are simply reselling PLR products it is different, but building a website or even a web store takes research, time, & dedication. If you are interested in & have knowledge of the subject it will help you stay focused & you will enjoy learning more about it.

Good luck with whatever route you choose

Take it from one who has blown more than afew dollars the last two plus years. Ignore all the hype of work two hours and then go to the beach It is a business like any other.

Decide first what kind of business you want. I finally have begun making a living by using niches that I enjoy. Decide if you want to be an affiliate or produce your own products.

I like Joel Comm and John Delavera. Their stuff works.

It is a great life but it takes a whole lot of work. I am more of a technical salesman and learning marketing methods is been a tough road. Was always easier have someone come up with the Marketing and then I sell it.

As someone mentioned earlier, Wealthy Affiliates is very good membership site but it will cost you a monthly fee.

If you are a total newbie and have no clue on where to start my suggestion would be to use PotPieGirl's OneWeekMarketing program, it's one of the cheapest you can buy ($47) and you do not need to spend a dollar more putting it to use (which is the case with most other systems, they just don't tell you on the sales page)

I would provide you with links to the two or three trustworthy products/programs but I'm not allowed to put in links yet

I've just got started on internet marketing a couple of months ago and is also going through the same prediacament. Info overload from too many offers and so called "gurus"!

I've also spent tons of money buying various ebooks, systems etc. I agree strongly with some of the above posts on how we should focus and just concentrate on 1 system at a time as we really need time to learn and take action to see results. There's no such things as achieving overnite success.

I've been looking at John Thornhill's system since I started and found his to be simple and easy to follow. His 90 day powerseller program was the first info pdt I ever bought. There are step by step instruction videos, suitable for a beginner. However, a considerable amt of time and effort is needed to execute the program.

Recently, I've also bought John's new pdt - Profit From PLR. This is a home study video course which tells us exactly how we could make money using PLR pdts and covers everything from niche research, to creating pdts using PLR, writing of sales page, setting up an affiliate program, listing in clickbank and so on. Simple enough to follow for a newbie.

Besides John, some internet marketers I feel are worth following include:
      - Mike Filsaime
      - Anik Singhal
      - Lee Mcintyre
      - Mark Ling
      - Russell Brunson

Right now, I'm doing my niche research and hope to come up with my own pdt in a month's time. Make do or die, I keep reminding myself that I have to stay focused this time!

Hope that I will have good news to share with u folks soon!

Most of the marketing materials and ebooks out there helps in building your business. If you are starting out, I guess the best thing you can do is to "move out" of traditional thinking and "move in" to business thinking.

Most materials are "marketing strategies" which can be used to build your business, however, you cannot depend on them alone to "get rich" or make tons and tons of money.

Think "business" then add "marketing" to it and you are probably on the right track.

Starting out is tough because there are many many things to learn but that is what entreprenuer does =)

Dan Lok and Yanik Silver are some of the best minds you can learn..

    Warmly,

From what I have seen most products promoted range from good to excellent.

The problem is fighting the urge to keep chasing after the next product launch and never implementing what you have.

Try to find a balance between earning and learning of I would say 4:1.

There is always more stuff to learn but take action and you will see for yourself what works.

Personally I really like the Nitro Blueprint program if you want to develop your own products and promote them on the Internet as a nice balance between quality and cost.

All depends on what you want to do. I would steer clear of dropshipping on Ebay as you have to deal w/ physical products and people being happy w/ what they get. PPC is good but beware of the Google Slap and there are so many courses to pick from that it makes your head spin. Jeremy has several and all of his have an excellent reputation. There are others also. Read the offers, find one that appeals to you, then get it and DO IT. Stick to it all the way through, don't jump to something else.

Bootcamps are designed to begin at the beginning, that's what a new person needs.

After that if you want to buy $200+ courses that's your business, but you may not need to, if you honestly go through a bootcamp.

Stay away from any type of "Get Rich Quick" ebooks and courses. They are "Newbie Traps". They cause you to have overinflated expectations.

They'll make you think you can make $10,000 or $20,000 per month within a month or two. This is not realistic and will prevent you from doing hard work for smaller realistic gains.

This will lead you into another "Newbie Trap" called opportunity hopping. If it looks too good, too fast or too easy to be true then use extreme caution.

I would recommend starting w/ article marketing as it has passed the test of time. I see that some have recommended potpie girl's program. Also might want to have a look at Travis Saigo as he and Potpie Girl are buds and I think that Potpie Girl was mentored by Travis.

Also as it was said before "Trust No One!" especially those that tell you you can make $300,000 + per month by following their easy system. Remember if it was easy everyone would be doing it and succeeding.

First thing a new person should buy is a warrior forum membership or live here for awhile reading and learning. Pick something you like or want the challenge of then research the right tools from there. And god forbide do not by every new thing there is.

I recommend Chris Farrell. I've learned more from him in two weeks than I have in several years of trying to figure things out from various sources. And, it really is step by step instruction, so you can build a good foundation of basic skills and remove some of the information overload. More confidence is the result.

He doesn't just teach what to do, but how to do it. For example; he doesn't just tell you to purchase a domain name and change the nameservers. He shows you, by video, every little step needed to do it. Same with autoresponders, etc.

There's a lot of good stuff out there, but I like and trust Chris. He waaay over-delivers too!

I would back this one all the way, I joined Chris's site two weeks ago and have really started to get referrals and sign ups, this after 18 months of struggling. He has a video for everything and the other members are a wide mixture of IMers with various levels of experience and skills, and they are all willing to help, no matter what question you ask of them.
I wish you luck on line, it takes work and dedication, but it is a great way to earn a living and I hope you make it.

I went from 0 to five figures monthly only buying a $40 script and shared web hosting. Granted I did make some custom tools along my way, but that $40 script is the only outside thing I bought.

I didn't know there was a 'warrior forum' or IM community until after I was already successful. Any sales letter I saw, I immediately closed.

I found my success by observation and being a bit clever, taking a system that somewhat worked and putting my own spin on it.

If there is one piece of solid advice it would be to not be attached to your sites. They are just there for you to earn.

    and more importantly
-if you find a formula that works, then automate and replicate.
meaning if you have a site that makes you $10 a day.

Why not put up 100 of those sites?
People forget this and it is so simple and how I have found my success.

and before... you go but, but, but..... just ask yourself.
Do you want to earn? or do you want to be idealistic?

Hi D, don't worry about being new and overwhelmed it happens to all of us. The trick is to pick one thing and stick with it. As far as choosing someone to follow I suggest you try out the thirty day challenge. thirtydaychallenge.com

This is off of the site:
WHAT IS THE THIRTY DAY CHALLENGE?
In a nutshell... The Thirty Day Challenge is about making your first $1 online. For a full 30 days we are going to be showing you exactly how to start your own Internet business and generate your first income online without spending a dime.

That's right, this is going to cost zip, diddly, nothing, nada, ziltch. The entire training program is free, and you won't have to spend a thing to get your business started and begin making money. No credit card required.

D,you can spend money signing up to different membership sites only to find out it's not for you. The end result will be frustration and money loss. Start out slow and cheap to get your feet wet. Then once you have a good idea of what exactly it is you want to do online you can look into those membership sites.

Good luck my friend and remember don't go spending your money on what sounds too good to be true. It usually is! It takes hard work and dedication to make money online just like in the real world.

Wow, all of these posts are overwhelming. I was hoping to get the answer to the trust question. I've spent a lot of money over the last 2 yrs on products and don't have much to show for it. My question in the trust issue is how can you believe how much people say they make?

As far as what teaching product to choose, I've learned to search reviews on the person and I won't get anything without a good guarantee.

Yesterday, I bought googlesniper (not an affiliate link) and plan on acting on it next week. It's described as a step-by-step relatively simple process and it has a 60 day guarantee. Now I have to write in my calendar a 60 day reminder to see if it's as good as George says.

Make sure that you work hard on the Sniper material. By far the biggest problem you see around here is people buying things and then not using them. Don't get distracted by the next product to come out.

If you stick around IM very long you will get burned once or twice ... but you'll also meet and establish some great relationships. It goes with the territory.

So ... who to trust: no one. Or, as Regan said, "trust but verify."

Whatever you do ... don't be afraid. Jump in and get wet. The IM arena is a great place to be and this forum is a good place to meet a few trustworthy people.

Well theres not too many people you can trust, but you can trust yourself. What you'll find alot of the basic internet marketing information which is being sold can actually be found on the net for nothing. Do a little research try one method first see if its working once you have mastered how to at least do it add another method and so forth then see whats taking the least effort and making you the most cash and stick with that.

    Good Luck And Don't Quit

The 30-Day Challenge is definitely the place to start. You'll learn a ton, and it's not overwhelming at all (unlike Wealthy Affiliate, IMO). All you'll get is one daily e-mail with your videos and tasks to watch and complete for the day. Very simple, concise, and free.

Once you start making money, I don't think it'd ever hurt to purchase any sort of eBook or other product related to the betterment of your business, as you'll almost always learn something. But - cashflow first, education second. And all the education that you need, to start, is available at no financial cost through Ed Dale's Thirty Day Challenge.

      Best of luck.

I am a member of Wealthy Affiliate. I cant say I need it anymore but the people are wonderful, they willingly transmit their expertise to noobies and the contacts, much like her, are invaluable. They are about $39 a month. There is a wealth of tools, lessons, and other programs very valuable to the starter-upper. If you cant afford it right now, keep them in mind

    Hi D.Starr,

I agree with of what is being said in this thread. Reason being that after about 3.5 years trying to market online I have been in the same situation you are in, confused looking a every program trying this and that up until just a month ago

What has changed for me is
    1. I found a great mentor who I am very comfortable with
    2. I Now have my own website which as you heard before is important and vital
    3. For the first time in almost 4 years online I am building a list and learning the importance of doing so among other things .

Lesson here for me is that you need focus, direction and guidance to even begin to make sense with an online business. The earlier you can get that the better.

Bottom line - I have accomplished more in one month than I have accomplished in almost four years online.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone contributing to the thread because I too am learning a great deal from your generous contributions.

      Hi Lylette

You couldn't have said it better. D.Starr let me tell you I have been doing this a while now and like Lylette said I'm just getting the hang of it, a little bit anyway this is a business and you must treat it as such, because their are a lot of scavengers out there just waiting to pick your bones, don't get me wrong this is a great business and their are thousands of great guys and gals that will help you but sometimes it's hard to find them. So find somebody you like stick with them until you get the hang of it, the last thing you want to do is jump around from program to program that's a surefire way to blew a lot of money and I am talking from experience.

Good Luck and be safe out there.

Great advice. Everyone needs a their platform ie website or blog in order to be successful in the long run. The earlier one starts on it, the better for them. Wishing you all the best

Kim Roach's stuff is good, Jimmy D. Brown is very straight forward, PotPie Girl, several others mentioned here.

The first thing I would ask yourself though, is what you want to spend your time doing? If you like to write, choose a system based on article marketing (such as Bum Marketing). If you hate to write, look for a system that uses other strengths.

You can probably learn as much from this forum (and Wealthy Affiliate) to blow your mind.

Realistically, I say, set a date by which you will move forward. Research, pick something, and really give it time to work.

Hey D.Starr let me give it to you straight. Don't be a such a hurry to quit your day job. I know it probably sucks or you're about to lose it or whatever, but from your post it sounds like your speaking out of desperation.

I too was always thinking about the money and financial freedom, but to really understand marketing you need to live it. Sorry, but there are no get rich shortcuts, no matter what anybody says.

I still work a FT day job and I've done this stuff for years - have bills to pay and family to feed. Just learn whatever you can: free tools, free methods, marketing in general. Buy an inexpensive ebook or surf this forum for tips on getting yourself starting in the right marketing direction. Sorry, I probably didn't answer your question the way you wanted but this is the reality of the game.

Hey there, D.Starr, there is no get rich quick formula to make money instantly online. If you try to establish your internet marketing business on your own, by researching on your own, it will take a long time and there is no guarantee that you will be in the right direction. From my experience I tell you success will come very very slow, after many failures. So join some good course or get some good book. Well, I have read both Who Loves Money and Beating Adwords and found them to be the best and a cut above the rest.

Remember - Hide your credit cards...! Boy, they all looked like the real deal for me at first! Then that was 10 years ago. I burned some plastic finding out most of it then was rehashed junk from one to another. Then I found the ones that were marketing the same thing they were selling me and telling me to earn by selling what I had just bought - I was a dope!

Look out there amongst the trustworthy and respectable - I despise the "$10K first day" junk.

Chris Farrell has good stuff. Bryan Zimmerman has a great newbie program as well!

Hope that helps - Stay on this forum and get good stuff!

I know exactly where you are coming from with this.

If you ever heard of Jay Abraham and Rich Schefren I can vouch for their programs 110% without hesitation. One is a offline business principles and systems strategist and the other is an online one. They are merging to help people leverage in the new web 2.0 environment and have the clout as well as the goodwill of all these never before compiled fortune 500 experts to give their analysis and insights live and give away free.

Check this and get your complimentary all-access pass for 6 week event - it will open your eyes in many ways and help evolve your perspective.

All I can say is it is not easy for just anyone to get this caliber of experts to come together and give their time and their expertise - not just blabbering about info and skimming off on generic principles - but to actually pull 'teeth' in terms of insights and applications relevant to businesses and entrepreneurs. But this jV of two of marketing's prominent people have their goodwill and trust too.

Have a look. Highly recommended. Then share with others here too.

If during the event you don't understand anything or want to bounce ideas off anyone, just PM me with your questions.

The advice here is good. Conflicting but good.
Trust noone, b/c everyone has something they want to sell you.
I have been online for over a year now and it has taken me that long to sift through what will and won't work for me.
I don't do clickbank, but lots of people do great with it.

The first thing is just RESEARCH, research, research. It's overwhelming, if you join programs right up front it'll be a waste of money.

There is no FAST way....but there are ways that will build your business. If you want to replace your day job...then that is what you have to do....build a business, not a get rich quick scheme.

    Starr,

I don't consider myself a newbie, but I'm no expert yet. I know there were allot of good answers, i didn't read all of them but I'm going to throw my hat in the ring.

I started a couple years ago and jumped on few products only to be disappointed. The reason was i was looking for a magic bullet that made everything work with little effort or time invested. I learned allot in past couple years.

    1. find your niche
    2. follow people who are successful in that niche
    3. have a plan
    4. focus daily on it
    5. be patient
    6. invest in yourself and business

get the basics domain name, hosting and auto responder and start building a list in your niche this will improve your results dramatically. Not trusting anyone is good advice but somewhere along the line you will need to take a leap of faith. Trust but verify.

    Good Luck

    Hi D.Starr

As far as a single product solution goes I don't really know of any, but as for services I'd check out Chris Farrell He shows you how to build a functional web business form A to Z. Then if you like, you can also promote his products if you do not have your own! I've learned a TON from him in the short time I've tried out his service, its top notch!
As for making money, it takes time to build a (web) business up, there's no quick solution. It's hard work, ya gotta put in the effort but if you're serious, hang in there and never give up!

    All the best to ya,
