WhatsApp joins the dark mode fray

In a recent The Verge , WhatsApp's latest beta version (v2.20.13) introduces dark mode. The new dark mode can be enabled in the Chats section under the Settings menu. Of course, users can have dark mode permanently on, permanently off, or follow Android's system-wide settings.

Dark mode is especially useful for devices with OLED displays, as well as being easy to the eyes when reading in dark environments (i.e. in a dark room). And with this beta release, WhatsApp is the third Facebook app to include dark mode - the other two being Messenger and Instagram.

However. WhatsApp Beta is only available for select users who opted-in to join the beta testing, and there is no announced date for its public release yet.

Found an article saying the exact opposite in terms of eye strain, I'm not saying I'm against dark mode on all of the apps I use, but the health benefits don't seems to be as significant as some of these articles claim.

I would think the screen brightness control
is all that's needed. Just saying.

I had a glitch just happen a second ago:

Your messages are in a light green colour and the text will be black and then the person you're chatting with has their text in a darker green bubble with white text

The green bar on top is replaced by a dark gray colour. The icons are still white. The wallpaper isn't changed because I use a picture as the wallpaper. I'm currently trying to recreate the glitch but we'll see how it goes. I'll post an update when I'm able to get a screenshot of it

    Very interesting text.
After reading it I wonder, do you think WhatsApp has already reached its peak as an instant messaging application or that it will evolve favorably more in the future?
    thnks
