Reddit rolls out new "Trending Takeover"

Reddit explains:
"Fads, trends, and movements get their start in Reddit communities every day. And as we invest in highlighting those trends for user visibility and participation, it presents a huge opportunity for advertisers looking to align with conversations in real-time. [...] With this new offering, brands looking to position themselves at the center of discussion on Reddit now have premium venues in two of the most commonly visited areas of the platform: Reddit's Search tab and Popular feed."

Takeover ads will last for 24 hours, and take the top block of the Reddit feed. They'll also show on 'Trending' search.
While that's good news for brands for more exposure and to ensure that their message is delivered, Redditors might not welcome seeing promotional messaging on the platform. But Reddit has to increase ads if they want to increase performance.
I'm a Redditor, and I'm fine with ads as long as they don't get in the way of reading. What about you?
