We all need to organize our finances and that’s why here at the Warrior Forum our job is to make your life easier… so today we are looking at the top 10 Accounting Apps for 2018.

To start we are going to go with SAGE ONE, that won our heart in our quick test…
SAGE ONE is a  cloud-based app that’s fit for small businesses, Sage One comes with two options, the Sage One starter which focuses mainly in invoicing, tax preparation and reports and Sage One Accounting which provides the full features like inviting multiple users when handling the business, it can create quotes and estimates and provides information and allows you to record your bills that you owe.  This is our favorite new comer . Although is not a “new app”, SAGE one has been revamped and it’s a very interesting option to consider.

This app is a great help with documentation and processes  as well as tax management. A great feature that they also have is a payment processor called, Sage Payment solutions which allows people to pay you faster (this feature requires an account to accept credit card payments). They offer a free trial only for Sage One Accounting for 30 days if you want to get a feel for this app. Cool UI, fast and excellent value for money. Good job SAGE!

If you’re managing a small business that’s either starting out or developing, Quickbooks would do you wonders. Cloud based, this software allows multiple users to view your entire business financial profile, view in-depth reports, and accounts of your company. This app connects your business bank accounts and provides you with features such as invoicing, expense tracking, inventory management, purchase ordering, payroll, and reporting. This app offers a 30-day free trial if you want to test it out, but skipping the 30-day trial gives you a hefty 50% discount for the first 6 months. There are a variety of plans to pick from, depending on your current needs for your business. The key features of Quickbooks lay with it’s easy-to-use interface and timesaving features. It can automate recurring invoices and bill payments, sync data from bank and credit card transactions, and reconcile and categorize expenses. They also offer electronic invoicing that you can even send via your smartphone when you’re on the go. If you run into any issues you can contact them via their phone and chat support.

If you’re unsure you can have a full demo of their dashboard via their website. It’s a must to checkout so you know if it’s the app for you.

Freshbooks is another cloud-based accounting app, though some may argue that it may just be an invoicing app due to the missing features like bookkeeping, Freshbooks is still reliable, with upcoming additional features. This app provides support and an amazing mobile app that’s available for both android and iOS which functions exactly like the desktop version, all key features available and doable on your mobile phone, great for people who are often on the go. The key feature for this app is that it provides customizable invoices, time-tracking for your team and a new feature for projects where all your collaborations with your team will all be in one place.

Xero is quite similar to Quickbooks, also cloud-based, it provides easy-to-use features and a UI that’s easy to navigate. Though made for business users and not accountants, Xero has made a pool of accountants that use their website to assist you. Though lacking on it’s own, this app is able to connect to 500 other applications that will fill in for what it’s lacking like payment processors, time trackers, inventory management, etc. It also provides an API that will help you have custom integrations created specifically for your business if you have a developer on board. Should any issues arise or if you need more information, Xero provides the best support through different options such as 24/7 email, live chat and outbound phone support.

Wave App is an accounting app that’s absolutely free (though ads are present). It’s great for small businesses that are just starting or freelancers and consultants. It’s nowhere near the paid apps that we have on this list but for people just starting out and have very little budget, this app would be great to start out on before moving on to better options. Wave App has timesaving tools such as invoicing which includes recurring billing, it allows you to schedule your invoices to be sent to your customers or subscribers. This app is also cloud-based and automatically syncs and backs up your data; they can connect to your bank, PayPal, credit card and other financial institutions. Wave provides a mobile app as well but with limited functions such as image capture of receipts which automatically translates into your expense transaction so you no longer have to input anything.

Of course, with the app being free there are drawbacks, such as, advertisement. All your invoice and emails through this app will have their branding. You are also required to use Wave’s credit card processing service if you want to accept invoice payments online, with a charge rate of 2.9 percent plus 30 cents per transactions. However, given that it’s free, this may just be a minor setback for a starting entrepreneur or Freelancer that doesn’t require all the other features provided by the paid apps.

If you have no plans of spending on such apps and is fully experienced in bookkeeping, then GnuCash app is perfect for you. This app includes everything that you need for accounting and keeping track of your finances for small businesses, but its interface is far from appealing. However, what it lacks in design, it makes up for with function.

This app has the following features: income and expense tracking, double-entry accounting, financial reports and calculations, scheduled transactions,  and statement reconciliation. This app can also track bank accounts, stocks bonds and mutual funds. However, a big draw back would be support.

GnuCash doesn’t provide any form of support other than the provided FAQ or Wiki which you can find on the product website, any issues you encounter that you cannot resolve through the FAQ may lead to issues being unsolvable.
