NY/NJ Lunch Anyone?

It's been a while since I organized one of these. So I am exploring the possibility of doing one (probably mid-October). Hinges on interest.

Location - not determined.
Date - Not determined (as stated, probably mid October on a Saturday)

Anyone interested, please suggest date and place. Open to suggestions.

Decided to go ahead and schedule something (as per my post below).

I'll say my old stand-by: Ruby Tuesday's at the Garden State Plaza Mall in Paramus, NJ. It's located at the intersection of State Routes 4 and 17 about 10 miles or so from the GWB.

This will be a "Buy your own lunch" event.

Date - Let's say Saturday, March 20th. That gives us just under 2 months to clear the day.

Time: 11:30am outside the restaurant (inside the mall). Go in at noon.

How does that sound?

    • Hi Mike --

      If the group is small, say ten or less, I can host a meet-up at my house. I have a fairly good-sized party room (complete w/ bar, pool table, and dart board--sorry no foosball for Mike Filsaime).

      I live in Melville, near NSP, rt 110, and LIE.

      If you want to do it on a weekend, Nov. 14 or Dec. 12 works for me.

  • Ever since they moved the lunch threads in this forum there's hardly any responses. Used to be I'd get 50 responses in about 4 days

    Still willing to set something up if the interest picks up.

    Awesome to find other people from the area too. I've been IMing for about 2 years now. Trying to learn and grow every day.

    I'm always down for meeting up. It's a great way to stay motivated and talk about what you do and how you do it with people that understand. My other friends, "just don't get".

  • I've been talking to a few Long Island Warriors and we're
    looking to get together sometime soon for a local meet up.

    Nothing big just a local meet up.

    A big lunch would be great to meet as many people as possible
    in the area but that might take more planning.

    I'lll update the thread as some of us get closer to a meet up date.

    It will be after New Years for sure though.

    So it's time to see how many of the people who posted subscribed to this thread. If you did, come in and let's schedule something for March. By them weather should start breaking a bit and it's far enough in the future to actually PLAN this.

      If possible, though, I'd like to meet up even earlier with whoever is around. If anyone wants to do a North Jersey lunch or go out for drinks sometime soon, let me know. PM me, and I'll plan it out.

      All kidding aside, you can talk marketing all day and not talk about your niche. These lunches are meant to meet, chat, talk about what works for you, find a partner...whatever you want.

      I credit these lunches for MUCH of my on line success.

  • Shoiab thats a valid point but this would be the same as going to any IM event or business lunch. You just meet people and start trying to network together if there is a match you jv or something. if not so be it. With that said I'm in to meeting in March.
    Mike Ambrosio this is your thread so why dont you take the honors and pull the trigger just shoot out a date, time and place.

    Also the NY internet marketing meetup on meetup.com isn't bad. They meet monthly at 23rd street & 6th ave in nyc.

  • Not to be rude, but I have never been to one of these.

    Is there a lot of brainstorming that goes on or are there a lot of newbs jsut askign questions.

    Love helping newbs out but just wondering what these things normally are like. Im from the jerz by the way

    • A little of both actually. There's nothing structured. It's simply a bunch of people having lunch chatting about marketing, etc.

      It could also be a good opportunity to partner up with someone. I partnered with another marketer as a result of the first lunch and we worked together for 2 years and made some good money.

      Bring an open mind.

    Although Ruby Tuesdays does not require a reservation, I do like to give them heads up if we plan on having a good crowd so they can reserve a section for us.

      I've been really wanting to meet other IMers in my area for some time now. Joined the stompernet list for north jersey but nothing happened with that.

      Would really like to make it this weekend, but I'm not 100% I can yet. Birthday party and Scout stuff this weekend...

    @mllnsgrl - well I think we should make this a monthly or bi-monthly event. Maybe even get somewhere where we can do a presentation, have internet access etc - it would be good to get the collective input from everybody...somebody mentioned there are some in NYC - maybe we can crash those!!!

  • Simon, I agree. There are a couple of IM Meetups in NYC, although for me, the drive wasn't bad - about an hour. It would be nice to meet in a quieter place where we could all share ideas, like a church basement or something

  • Congrats on getting together. Too much of a hike for me from Suffolk County (Long Island), and couldn't be out of the office the whole day.

    • Simon.. I would definitley meet up at those NYC Conferences. Will have to check it out on the web this week. That sounds interesting.

      Mike.. Also, in that mall is American Joe's which I used to go to all the time. The front room is a large bar with some tables - at least you could walk around and talk. There's not much mall noise there, but there is a tv going I think.

      Sometimes Libraries have back area rooms also.

      I hope you all don't meet for a couple weeks now, because I"m recovering from a broken ankle and can't drive yet :0
