Local Meetups for Internet Marketers

Just curious if any of you do local meetups with other internet marketers? This would be similar to a mastermind meeting with other internet marketers.

If you do this, how did you find out about the group? What type of agenda do you have? How often do you meetup?

I'm looking for ideas to start my own local meetup group for bloggers, affiliate marketers and internet marketers. Any advice or tips would be appreciated.

    • Yes, there are Facebook groups, but I have never seen any for a local internet marketing group. I think meeting with people face to face is much more effective and fulfilling.

  • The best thing to do is just do it.


    Years ago, I used to announce "Warrior Lunches" in this forum. I am from lower NY State, so I would hold them in norther NJ at a restaurant in one of the malls. The first one had 6 people. The second had over 20. The third had over 30 and the fourth one had close to 100 so we moved it to a hotel.


    Where you're located there are 2 locations to consider - Tampa and Orlando. Orlando seems to have a few more marketers (at least the ones I know of). So, just announce one. Whether here or on FB. Announce it as a get together to share ideas, etc. NOT as a lunch and learn (unless you want to create slides or something). If you don't get a large response the first time, just do another. Like I said, my first had 6 people. BUT - in that first one, I met a guy who became my first partner and we launched 3 successful sites together.



    By the way, consider going to a marketing event. In Orlando there's usually a couple of them every year. One was recently announced for Sept. at the Orlando Convention Center, but no dates yet. Go to one and talk to as many people as you can.

    • One of the posters in upstate NY is looking to have one he has a thread in section running. If you are in NYC their are people from that area that might get together as Mike said in the post above yours.
  • I was keen on doing the same a while back, Where I stay in most of them use this site called Meetup to find like minded people. Alongside it as pointed out facebook groups, WhatsApp and LinkedIn seem to be viable options.

    • I've tried a few meetup groups locally, even one for bloggers, but it didn't offer very much value. I guess if I want something good I'll have to create my own local meetup.
  • Is this a proper event or just a casual meetup?
  • You can start a resource blog or an active website and give people useful information they could use to help grow or start their online business. Once you have a decent size with multiple topics that you could cover, you should be able to be the go to person in the area.

    Another option would be to go to local businesses and ask what they would like to know about bringing their business online and build a B2B online marketing group. You could also just search the net for what other people want to know and cover it locally.

    Places you could start may be in the library or maybe the chamber of commerce. You might be also able to go to a restaurant with a large group event room or maybe rent a seminar room from a local hotel.
