  I would love to meet and work with others in the area. How does next Tuesday (2/10/09) 7-8:30pm at the food court in Lloyd Center sound? We could pull together some tables and start the PDX Warriors. I do tech support until 2pm in Tualatin and live in West Linn so late afternoon or evenings are usually best.

We have a meeting coming up this Monday, May 16th. It's at 6:30pm, at Panera Bread in Beaverton, Oregon, at Cedar Hills Crossing.

This meeting will have a short agenda at the beginning to start things off and then open to general discussion. We try to capture the large table when it's available. I will let the staff know where we are if you can't find us.

My schedule is very busy right now with some things in the works, but I would be open to meeting up with some people locally who already know what they're doing (at least somewhat) when it comes to internet marketing.

I would be willing to swap some ideas but I don't want to waste my time as I'm already extremely busy, so I would only be interested if the group had some real insight to bring to the table. But stating that, I would be open to meeting up with some like-minded internet marketers.

For those on the the South Metro PDX side or those willing to travel, a small group has been intermittently meeting at the Starbucks across the parking lot from Best Buy on Nyberg in Tualatin Wednesdays at 3pm. Hopefully we will get big enough that we will need to find another space! I have Cash in a Flash, I don't know how many other programs and a hard drive full of content, but need people to talk to, bounce ideas with and set deadlines as I transition away from a paid job. (it's moving to Salem sometime this year and I am not going to commute!) We haven't met for about a month so its time to get it going again. Don't worry about RSVPing. Just show up!

Good luck on getting anyone to meet or respond here in the rainy city. In the five plus years that I've been trying to get a regular meeting going I've had no luck.

Seems kind of puzzling, STRANGE actually! Is it because everyone is afraid of sharing their secrets or because they HAVE no secrets? Seems like a tremendous idea to me. I am also interested as well. Close to Haggen's also... Will be checking back here.

Ok, I've talked with a few people and it looks like we have some interested parties. I know it's the holiday season and it might not work for everyone, but the next best date that I've been able to gather would be this coming Tuesday, December 28th, 2010. I've thrown out a few locations and the one that seems to be a good fit for those interested is listed below.

I hope some of you will be able to make it. It would be nice to meet a few people in the Portland area that are on the forums. Let me state at the beginning, that this is an informal meeting. It's for both newcomers to IM and those who are old-hat's. The goal of this gathering is to give us an opportunity to see that we're not alone, share ideas and get excited and energized by each other.

We were somewhat successful last night. Had 3 of us show up and got to do some introductions. It would be nice to have a few more people show up next time around. I'll give it a few weeks and we'll try again.

One thing I did learn from the experience. Make sure you schedule the meeting at a place that actually has free wifi! So next go around, I'll scope out a better place in the general area.

We were able to meet last night at Panera and it went really well. I was very pleased with the turn out overall. We had 5 people show, counting myself, and then one more who wasn't a part of the original group. I explain that part later.

We had a good wide representation from both the Warrior Forum and from the Meetup Groups I posted the meeting at. Everyone who attended seemed to really enjoy and appreciate the opportunity to get together and meet with other Internet Marketer's in the area.

The best part of the meeting in my opinion, was just after we arrived, I had placed a folded place card on the table with the words Internet Marketing on it, so that those attending could find me quickly and not feel odd about coming up to the table. Just as we were doing introductions, a young man came over from a nearby table and said that he couldn't help not coming over after seeing our sign. He was an Internet Marketer also! He's in town visiting his sister, and came down to Panera to do a little work. He couldn't believe it when he saw our sign and had to come over and introduce himself. We immediately invited him to join in and he was a great asset to the meeting.

We had a wide range of experience represented and we had some excellent, engaging conversation. Towards the end of the meeting, we decided to do it again in Feb. I've got the next one scheduled for Feb 21st, same location and time. We also setup a Yahoo Group to provide a location to share information to those interested. We could meet at Big Al's, they have free wifi in their sports bar. Haven't been there ao I don't know how noisy it is but its only a little south of Haggans.

If you don't view Internet marketing as a "real" job you will most likely never make any money at it.

I think their point is that they can't meet from 4-midnight because they don't have enough cash coming in to quit their real job yet. At least for this next meeting, we'll likely be meeting around 6-7pm.

One issue we might have at that location is the noise level. I'd like it to be easy to hear and chat. I'll run through that area and pick a spot.

Yes, that was my point exactly! And actually I retired in 1998 with a full pension, now just working part time till I can get SS although I just turned 64 on Tuesday 01/11. All my earnings from the "job" are just pocket money for my wife and I. What I earn wouldn't even buy health insurance for the family through my employer. (Evening security at a retirement center). After you reach 50 it's REALLY hard to find places that pay much. I have the equiv. of a Masters in civil engineering and an AA in computer but still couldn't find any solid work that paid the almost $80,000 I was making at one time doing IT consulting.

  I'm sure that the noise level is variable at Big Al's based on when we meet. I would suspect that any time between say one and four or five during the week would be acceptable.
  
  BTW, I stand by my earlier statement. It wasn't meant as an insult but the simple fact that how you look at Internet marketing will affect your ability to make money.
  
  I to am semi-retired and work part time to keep busy and make money to pay for insurance but I view my Internet business as my "real" job and my other as a part time job until I make enough to quit not the other way around.
  
  Simply a different viewpoint.
  
  I shop in the Murrayhill area and am not aware of any other places that have wifi except for the Starbucks and there you have noise and lack of seating most of the time.
  
  Personally, I wouldn't mind some background noise so that other people don't eavesdrop.
  
  Maybe a better solution would be if someone has a personal hotspot? For at least the next meeting I could bring my Clear hotspot but I'm seriously considering dropping my clear account in February. I'd also have to test the clear signal at Haggans as it may not work there.
  
  Also, I have a friend that lives in Forest Grove that will probably join us, so keep in mind that we could need a place that will handle five or six people comfortably.

  I'd be willing to meet more in the Cedar Hills/Mills area. That would cut a 30-40 minutes round trip off time to Haggans or Big Al's for anyone coming from Vancouver or Portland.
  
  The Washington Sq. area would also be good. Have you checked The Thirsty Lion, it has free wifi? (its located at the south end of WashSq off Greenburg.) I've eaten a late lunch there a couple of times and its been quiet enough to easily hold a conversation. (Not to mention Beer.) Its also set up so that if someone is under 21 they could join us.

I've found a good location. At Cedar Hills Crossing, there is a Panera Bread right across from Best Buy and Powell's Books. It's in the same parking lot, right on Cedar Hills. They have free wifi plus you can grab some food or a drink if you would like. The address is:

3435 SW Cedar Hills Blvd. Suite A, Beaverton, OR

I plan on arriving around 6:30 and will stay until 8:30 at the latest. I'll be sure to wear my Florida Gator jacket and I'll have a Florida Gator laptop. That way you can find me, since I'll likely be the only one in Blue and Orange! <grin>

Just to clarify, here are the arrangements again.

We're meeting at Panera Bread in Beaverton at Cedar Hills Crossing, on Monday, January 24th, from 6:30-8:30.

The goal of this meeting is to give the opportunity to meet fellow Internet Marketers in the area. I'm hoping that we'll find a mix of experience. Both new and old IM'ers who are looking for encouragement and a little conversation with people of like mind.

If you are new to Internet Marketing, don't feel shy about coming. If you've been doing this for years, come out as well.

I mostly would like the opportunity to have some engaging conversation that will encourage me to keep pressing on and striving to do better. I'm new to the world of IM and I need a lift every now and then to keep my eye on the prize.

I look forward to meeting those who can come. And in the future we can do it at another time and location. I just wanted to get it started somehow and some way.

Sounds like fun! I just moved to Portland and don't know the area very well (or any people, for that matter). This will be a good chance for me to get out stop staring at my computer screen for awhile

I've been doing IM for over a year full-time. I don't make a ton of money or anything, but I made enough to run away to Thailand with my girlfriend for 2 months last fall.

Just a word of warning. I found 2 Meetup groups in our area that are focused on Internet Marketing. I extended an invitation to both groups about this get together. I hope that I didn't just make a mistake and have too many people show up at Panera. <grin>

Well worse case scenario is that we have so many people interested that we have to find a bigger location for the next one. I wonder if I should make up a sign for the table? I'll give that some thought over the weekend.

Anyway, just wanted to warn everyone that there might be a few more attending than just those people from the Warrior Forum. All of them should be Internet Marketing focused individuals. I'm really looking forward to Monday!

If your expecting an large crowd could I suggest that you create an agenda and bring copies to hand out. It doesn't have to be anything really formal, just a list of topics that you want to cover.

It will ake staying on course easier.

For a starter I'd suggest:

1: Introduce yourself as the instigator of the meeting.

2: Give everyone 1-3 minutes to introduce themselves. Three minutes if its a small group and one if its a large group.

3: Have each person say what they would like to get out of future meetings.

4: Have an open discussion.

Just my thoughts, feel free to add, delete or ignore.

Well I have been on Warrior Forum for a while now, and saw this thread a loong time ago. But, now I am getting more involved on WF with WSOs and list building and all of that, and so I think now is the time I should finally start going to mastermind meetups. So I'll watch this spot for the next one and I'll try my best to make it. I'm down in Salem but the drive is pretty quick.

I'm really sorry I missed the meeting with Gabe! I've talked with him on occasion, and I know he's a fountain of information. I'll be watching this space--unfortunately, though, I work full-time in Oly, so making a 1:00 meeting is all but impossible.

With New Years being celebrated on the first Monday of the new month we decided to meet on the second Monday at the normal spot, Panera Bread on Cedar Hills Blvd, Beaverton, at the last meeting.

Looking forward to seeing some new faces on the 9th @ 6:30pm

We do have one scheduled on June 4th. However, this will be the last one that I'm running due to I'm moving across the country to North Carolina. Unsure if the group will continue once I'm gone.

We are likely changing the location for this meeting and I'll update that asap once we decide. Otherwise expect it to be at Panera.

It's located on TV Hwy, just past Cornelius Pass Road. Nice restaurant/Pub.
