****LONDON MEETUP****

Hi Guys,

I'm from London and being from England I find that there is not many Internet Marketers around. It would be great if a group of us could get together and hold a little discussion.

I'm going to collect numbers to see who's interested so just reply to this thread rather than PM me. This way other warriors will see who is going

I would be very appreciative (as would everyone else) if we could have a few speakers.

My areas of 'expertise' include:
Offline Advertising.
PPV.
PPC.
Basic SEO

So if anyone can add to those skills at this talk then that would be great. Or even do your own talk about one of the subjects mentioned above.

It will still be good to get out and meet up with some like minded people. I myself, used to find that other people brung me down a little who weren't into internet marketing. I always find that talking to people first hand about their experiences online is way more motivating.

It would be great to get this off the ground soon.

Any thoughts too will be greatly appreciated.

    That's cool. You don't have to speak. We appreciate speakers AS WELL AS attendees.

    Ideally I want a few more people to come so I will release a date when we can get this thing off the ground.

    Had quite a lot of PMs from people wanted to meet, network and discuss IM for new ideas and methods. So, the list is building.

    Again, please state whether you want to come within the thread so we can collect numbers and move this thing forward to a meetup.

    It's what I do - currently I work mostly with big business and I'm looking to see what big business can learn from IM/MLM and vice versa.

    Don't know where the notion that there are not many IM's in the UK came from. There are thousands!
    Now if the question was how many successful IM's that is a different story. But there are quite a lot of IM millionaires in the UK and it is growing all the time.
    Why not set up a first tuesday type informal meet first of all to get things started.

    To all who are interested in meeting up around the London area, I am thinking of organising a social meet-up for like-minded people sometime in early-mid December. I'm thinking of Saturday 12th December around noon.

    We could all meet up in a cosy pub or bar, have a few drinks and light bites (or lunch if you want) and chat about internet marketing and what we're all doing. What I have in mind also is to form a group where we can meet up regularly to support and encourage each other to succeed in our online ventures. Of course if the group grows large enough, there would be ample opportunity for some serious networking and JV formations. Who knows where it will all lead to?

    If you're up for it, and so long as we get at least half a dozen people to confirm attendence then I'll make it happen.

    PM me with your phone number and email if you're interested so that I can determine the interest levels! I will send you my details in return.

    OK fellow IM'ers. I've had 3 responses via PM so far...

    - Ashley Wright is OK for the 12th Dec
    - sarahstaar is OK for the 12th Dec
    - JimmyD wants to meet up but cannot do Saturdays!

    ...and 1 on this forum from nota-bene who wants to meet up but cannot do 12th Dec.

    That makes 5 of us in total interested, but only 3 can make the 12th Dec. Would be great to get a handful of more people to come along.

    Suggest you all let me know what days you CAN'T make in December. FYI, I'll be unavailable from 23rd Dec onwards.

    Therefore any of the following days are fine with me, although my preference is for a weekend, else a Friday as I think that would probably suit most other people here although I may be wrong:

    Weds 9th - Sun 13th, and Weds 16th - Tues 22nd.

    Let me know soon, so I can arrange something. We'll probably meet up for some coffee or drinks, either in at a quiet cafe (any suggestions welcomed) or some place where we can sit down round a table or two for some informal chat and a drink/light bite, such as the Royal Festival Hall. If you have better ideas, please give them to me!

    Will wait for your replies (either PM me or reply to this thread). I'd like to be able to arrange something by no later than next later week, say around the 10th ish?

        As you say I cannot do weekends but any days in December apart from, at the moment that is, 10th, 14,17th I can do. However it looks like quite a few can do Saturday the 12th so I would go with that if I were you and I can catch up with everyone in the New Year.

    Right everyone,

    Here's the plan:

    Whoever wants to come along, we can all meet this Saturday the 12th December at 1pm at the Royal Festival Hall. Suggested meeting up point is just inside the building, at the main entrance facing the River Thames. There's a café and some shops inside if you arrive early, you can browse around. There's a nice café / restaurant nearby called "Le Pain Quotidien" (The Daily Bread!) which we could perhaps sit down for a light bite and coffee, although I believe there are other probably smaller cafés and bars within walking distance nearby. I guess we can decide on the day, but first things first, let's get a bunch of us together to socialise and talk about IM!

    Nearest stations are Waterloo Tube / Waterloo International Train Station. It's very near the London Eye! You can also get there by walking across the Golden Jubilee Bridge from Embankment Tube station.

      I think everyone needs to stop messing about, someone take charge, pick a day, a time and just DO it!

      It is just a meetup of like minded people to talk about IM...

      If people get on, then they can work together, do a JV etc.

      All this, "I want to give a talk about this and that, blah, blah, blah"

      This is not a lecture

      I am a wheelchair user, so things may be a bit awkward for me...

      If anyone is really SERIOUS about a meetup, just to talk IM and whatever comes of it, comes of it, then send me a PM and lets just DO it!!!

          I recently posted just above about something I am working on with reference to setting up a event.

          I am nearly, there and aim to launch the first meet in the first week of April!! - Yay!!!

          This will be a proper structured event (with NO pitches) strickly knowledge based with regular monthly networking evenings... There is a clear demand for this and I am just putting together the finer details for where it will be hosted!

          I have been working on this for a while with a good friend!

          I know this will be a fantastic place for IM'ers to just get to know others! Shimples!!

            I don't want to curb your enthusiasm, Deep, but the first week of April is a) either Easter or just after, and b) school holidays. IMHO not the most propitious time to set something up.

            Meanwhile, as there seems to be interest, why not schedule another informal get-2-gether, say mid-March, so that Deep can get his ducks in a row in peace?

      I was there too from 7-8. I had printed the directions and had it in my hand at the bar hoping someone will ask but anyway... another time!

      Found myself 3 nice gentlemen who entertained me for the period.
      Had a good laugh. so all in all not a wasted evening, i will say, except for the long journey back to Banstead, Surrey!

            The next London Lunch is in 4 weeks time on Friday 26th March.

            Why not follow the link and sign up, last I heard there were a number of spaces left. It's a great place to meet other IMers and is usually well attended with numbers around the 40 mark. I have been to the last 4 and am booked up for this one already.

            It takes place in a hotel restaurant/lounge in central London.

                  It sounds like Deep is on it with the meetup. I think there's always reasons why one week would be better than another, but let's just start the meetups and refine it as we go. Doesn't have to be perfect first time.

                  If there's too little interest (which I doubt) we could always just meet up in pairs or smaller groups just to start the network growing. We're obviously serious about succeeding so let's find a way to all do that together.

    Several Warriors suggested another meeting in London sooner rather than later. So, let's have another go at it:

    Let's meet and talk IM on Wednesday, the 17th of March at 7.30pm at the

    Swiss Cottage Pub("Ye Olde Swiss Cottage"), NW3 5EL (click post code for Google map).

    It's a spacious pub on a traffic island that cannot be missed. It's served by tube and a number of buses from different directions.
    Parking: NCP next door, side streets have single yellow lines that are OK after 6.30pm.

        I have been to the last 5 or so London Lunches. They are well worth attending, I have met some great people there. I recommend signing up if there are any spaces left.

      I went to the last meetup on the 17th of March 2010.

      In attendance was me, max(macs09) and wesley(wesdag).

      We were there for just over 2 hours, it was nice to meet up with other IM'ers in real life...

      We talked over different strategies, tips, what was working for each person.

      We also talked about different business models, the need to just focus on one thing at a time etc

      All in all, a very useful evening

      I will definitely be attending any more meetups
