VigLink loading scripts from ScorecardResearch

I've been using VigLink to affiliatize my outgoing links for a while now, and I'm generally very happy with them. However, I recently noticed that they began loading some scripts from other domains besides VigLink.com. These come from ScorecardResearch, a web tracking / market research company.

Now, I have no idea if VigLink is getting paid to tack this script on top of their own, or they're just using this for their internal purposes. I'm still not happy because on top of privacy concerns, these additional scripts slow down my site without providing any value to me.

Am I right to be annoyed, or is this nothing to be concerned about?

Also, can anyone tell me if SkimLinks is doing the same?

Hi there! Kasia from Skimlinks here. I checked in with our tech team to give you an accurate response to your question. Skimlinks absolutely does not do this, nor would we run third party javascript without first getting a publishers permission.

This effort with comScore was one of several proactive initiatives to measure the quality and reach of our exchange. We believe it is the responsibility of a premier exchange to have a trusted 3rd party to measure the volume of impressions managed. We do not profit from this, in fact this was an investment made on behalf of our publishers, merchants, and brands.

Any additional questions or concerns can be directed to support@viglink.com.

Thank you for being a valued VigLink publisher!
