Newbies Are Finding It Hard To Make Money

This is exactly true. When i first started i was trying to do 10 things at one time and i would just fail hard on all of them because i would spend very little time on each method and do pretty bad work. Now i am successful because i focused on one thing. SEO is what interested me the most and it's been nothing but good to me so far.

I'm setting here shaking my head because you are talking about making money and a lot of responses to this, as usual, are ......get rich this and get rich that.

Also I'm seeing responses from others here stating that there is not enough room for everyone to be successful.

I'm almost certain those who say that, are not in tune with your definition of success. You said, " I didnt want to be rich I just wanted to be home more with my loved ones." This is a very reasonable expectation for online success.

Some even have lower expectations for success.....

As hard as it is for some to wrap their heads around success for some is $500, 300, or even less a month and I'm not only talking about those in third world countries.

Consider the happy employee who loves his job, however an extra $500 a month is the difference between a staycation and a vacation. $500 a month would be success for him and very doable for anyone.

How about the retired U.S. citizen living on a $1,800 a month SS income. Another $800 a month would make a big difference. Again very doable by anyone.

So I say newbies, if your goal is to get rich then yes, the "Market may be limited," however, if your "success" would be $1,000, $3,000 or $5,000 a month, take heart, you can do it. There is room for everyone.

Businesses require time and effort to build. What puts off most newbies who venture into this industry in my opinion is when they realize that the false promises they've been led to believe are just that...false promises.

And with most things it takes HARD WORK and CONSISTENCY to be successful.

Newbies shouldn't buy into the lies that make most IM product headlines. The only way you can achieve wealthy is when you stop constantly buying stuff (and chasing after shiny objects) and start selling.

Not necessarily. Some markets are impulse-based and the quality of the product being marketed is esoteric and determined solely by the perception created via the marketing. In such a market having a lot of competition can be an advantage because you have a lot of marketers creating desire in the public and all you have to do is try to be there when they are ready to buy.

You also can't compare the weight loss market to grape growing - the weight loss market is comparable to the growing plants market, while grape growing is comparable to the lose-arm-fat-after-40 market. Both are very limited and can only be expanded via building up lasting relationships with the original market and introducing them to new semi-related products (a lot of work and risk).

Meanwhile, people who want weight loss cures are endless and constantly refreshed, as are the people who need gardening advice. But it's a lot easier to sell weight loss products than it is to become a generic authority on gardening due to that impulse nature.

I've had experience selling extremely niche products and also mass-appeal impulse stuff, and it takes a lot less work after set up to make $100,000 through selling miracle beauty products than through selling a guide on how to raise rabbits (or lose arm fat).

That's because the market for generic impulse stuff has a ridiculous amount of constantly refreshed buyers who buy multiple times, while selling niche products requires constantly hunting new sources to get traffic and an inability to scale beyond a certain point because there is simply a limited amount of people who developed an interest in that niche.

If you're selling your own hand-made writing for $5, then you're not really a marketer operating in a market. The entire point of marketing is to create perceived value so you can sell things profitably.

Besides, the same attitude that leads to people pricing their writing so low is the one that leads to them selecting markets with little competition (and thus limited potential for growth) - low confidence. All things being equal (ie. you don't have a rep/talent in some small niche) I think almost everybody starting out would make more money (for less constant work) in a generic mass-appeal market than a limited niched-down market.

There is no best anything. There are dozens if not hundreds of viable business models for newbies to get started in.

As for getting a mentor or some training, there are so many con artists out there its hard for a newby to sort wheat from chaff.

That's a good point. But what one person calls a "hard thing" or problem - another man calls "options or choices". It all depends on your perspective.
