Can I host my sales page on shared hosting??

I am panning to sale a product in self-hosted site.

I doubt if there will be downtime problem in shared hosting.

You mention self-hosted and shard hosting.

Self-hosting (like out of your home) depends on the quality of your internet connection and the level of traffic that you expect. I haven't heard of anyone doing this for years. Back in the day I recall several people on the forums having a T1 line run to their home to host their sites themselves. I have no idea what kind of options are available today for that sort of thing, but hosting is so cheap that it can't possibly be a good idea for small sites.

Shared hosting is fine for just about everything online. Only a tiny percentage of sites need more than shared.

    in self-hosted site.
I assume you mean one you buy hosting for vs a free website platform?

If you have a reputable host then you'll have no problem hosting many sales pages.

Check out some hosting companies, contact them to ask about uptime guarantees, support response times and other pre-sales questions that might be important to you. Will help you to get a "comfort factor" around which one to go for as well.

As an IM expert like yourself will know, that depends what sort of hosting company you use, Manish.

You can never control it absolutely, but you can probably get the odds in your favor by avoiding GoDaddy, 1and1, and all hosting companies owned by the dreaded EIG conglomerate (whose business model seems to be to buy up previously good hosting companies and turn them into customer service and reliability nightmares.)

Go for BlueHost Plus plan or HostGator Baby Plan.

Either of them will serve you with a very minimal downtime.

    How do I know?

Been using shared hosting for years. Never ran into issues.

Please excuse my mentioning that these are two hosting companies to avoid, for sure, IMHO. Things change: they're both now part of the dreaded EIG. (I'm actually hosting at Hostgator now, and planning to leave, since all the recent downtime and grotesque deterioration in customer service following the EIG takeover of both those companies - as commented on so extensively here by large numbers of other Warriors). See post #10, just above.
